I just joined the Swap site, and it is great. I love how the swap process is set up. The matchmaker is a fantastic function too. I’ve noticed a few technical glitches:
1. When going through someone’s list to add items to a swap request, it randomizes the entire list of items every time you click ‘next’ or a page number. It makes it really hard to see everything, as they are are always moving around, and you’ll see some items many times, and others not at all. I’ve gone through each numbered page of someone’s list in order 3 times, and still had new items, but had to see other items 12 or more times.
2. A lot of things that people have listed are not showing up as available. Several items which I’ve been stalking say not available when I’m looking at the item page to follow it, but when requesting a different item to swap, I will see them listed on people’s lists of available items. (This isn’t a matter of the same item having multiple names, which does happen of course. When I click on the item from their available lists, the item page shows it as not available.)
3. You can’t search for a phrase or multiple words. Any two-word search will give you a ‘there aren’t any items available’ response. The work-around is to use the most distinct word, which is what I’ve been doing, but it is a little frustrating when something has a name made up of common words. (For example, to search for eye cream, you’re going to have to buck up and either go through everything with ‘eye’ somewhere in the name, including eyeshadow, etc. or everything with ‘cream.’) The other work-around is to type in the phrase and wait for items to show up in the dropdown menu below the box. The frustration there is that you have to click on them each individually. Any you have to re-perform the search for each item. There isn’t a “open in a new tab” right-click option either, which would at least allow you to go down the drop-down list and open a bunch of new tabs.
You are providing a fantastic service and I really appreciate it! I realize that the above may seem like a lengthy negative description, but I thought more details would help explain the glitches better. (I use Google Chrome as my browser, if that information helps.)
