I have been interested and $5 is great but is it easy to cancel? Will they charge me $15 for a month in advance. Please someone respond with experience so I do not make a mistake. Thanks! 🙂

I subscribed for the first time yesterday (9/9) and got an email confirming that they charged me $5. From their website, it looks like as long as you cancel 24hrs before the next billing date (10/8 for me) they will not charge you. So, if I only wanted one month, then I would sign up now and cancel before a month minus a day from now. But that also means I would have to cancel before most likely receiving my first box.

From their website:

“How do I cancel my subscription?
Last Updated: Aug 20, 2014 01:56PM EST
You can cancel your subscription by logging into your account at http://www.lipmonthly.com/login and going to the “Subscriptions” tab the top right of your screen. From there, you just need to click “Suspend” subscription to be able to cancel your account. Please note that all subscriptions auto-renew and in order to cancel future renewals and avoid receiving an extra month or set of boxes, you have to cancel 24 hours prior to the renewal.”

I really enjoy lipmonthy I cancel this month because I was going to Disney and need to save every penny. The subscription had different items and all where full size. I say check it out its only 10.00 dollars and if you don’t like it at least you can base that on your option not of others.

Does anyone know if its easy to cancel? Can you just do it online or is it more complicated?

I am very leery of this company after the charging issues I’ve had. They are unclear of their charge dates as far as I’ve seen. They charge you a month BEFORE they ship your box out. Also, if you change your plan before the new month starts you still get charged for your box (lovely right? -.-). I ordered a box in July, didn’t know about their policy and was charged for August. Changed my August plan to bi-monthly to see if I’d like the August box enough to maybe stay on. Was charged in September for my October box (if it was bimonthly I would have been charged in November!). I contacted customer service and they basically stated that they charge a month in advance for the box and the new plan won’t kick in till the next month if you change it mid-month. Seems a bit shady to me, the CSR did say they’d mention to the site creators about putting more info on the charging deadlines but we’ll see. They also require you to use their payment check out instead of paypal so getting your money back for the charges without canceling your current card is basically impossible due to their no refund policy. I understand no refunds on already sent problem but no refunds on boxes that are never shipped? After I receive my next two boxes I will no longer continue using their service. I do not like how strict their plan is. I want to be able to cancel anytime unless specifically stated about when they charge without risk of being charged.

Wow, super shady. So I won’t have my first box in hand before I’m charged for my second? I don’t like the sound of that at all.

I’m still leery since their website still shows pics of MAC products. Very, very, very rarely does MAC ever allow other non-affiliate (i.e., limited department stores) sell their product. So when you see a sub advertising they will be sending MAC products, it’s a sure giveaway they’re buying from third party resellers, most of whom deal in counterfeit and/or expired-legitimate products. If that’s just a pic for “inspiration” I’d recommend they take it down. Or MAC’s legal team will make sure they do. They’re pretty good about going after those misappropriating their product line, at least in the past year.

Be VERY wary, I ordered for $5 and got email confirmation of it but was charged $6.99 anyways plus .21. Thinking of failing a claim with my bank, is this fraud?

I’ve seen mixed reviews here and elsewhere, but for $5, this is worth a gamble to me. In case anyone else is considering, my e-mail confirmation says my first box will ship between October 10 and 15.

Here is the info I found on their website about discontinued items:

“Do you include discontinued items?
Last Updated: Aug 13, 2014 03:21PM EST
Lip Monthly does NOT include discontinued items. Given that we are a young company, our first box in June had a discontinued item. We have made a promise since then not to include discontinued items. ”

Also, it looks like if you sign up this month they will bill you now but the first box we will receive will be the October. Here’s their info:

When will I receive my first Lip Monthly Bag?
Last Updated: Aug 12, 2014 01:35PM EST
If you sign up in a given month, you will receive the following months box within the first 2 weeks of the month. For example, if you join in August, you will receive the September box within the first 2 weeks. Typically, your box will be shipped out around the 8th or 9th of the month and you will receive tracking information thereafter. If you don’t receive tracking on the 8th or 9th, please don’t worry – you’ll receive tracking shortly after. You can also log into your account at http://www.lipmonthly.com/login to check your tracking number.”

Amanda – I used the deal for August, and then I moved and didn’t get my bag. They have quit sending discontinued items. I reached out to customer service about my missing bag, but it took them two tries before I got a response. That said, once they did respond they immediately mailed me another August bag. I had the same issue with Ipsy, who respond immediately to customer service. However, I just now got my replacement bag today from Ipsy, almost a month since I moved into my apartment, and I only got one of the fabulous items originally meant for my personalized bag. Granted, lip monthly doesn’t yet send variations. But that gives you an idea of two flip sides. LM takes a while to respond, but they didn’t scam me. I would say they are working out their issues!

Liz – Essentials and Jetsetter bags are back up on Total beauty for sale! Code 2for30 still applies. The MUT ladies have posted contents for both.

Thanks for the info! I’m glad to hear they’ve quit with the discontinued products – that was my biggest worry.

Well, they SAID they’d quit with the discontinued products. Actually they had a discontinued product in their July box too (Stila Lip Glaze); May and June were almost completely discontinued products. In August they sent out a repeat item from July along with a product that was either discontinued or unreleased; you couldn’t find it online anywhere to buy. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth even $5 with the quality I’ve seen in reviews and the comically bad billing and customer service problems.

Amanda

Even though this looks like a fabulous deal I’m a little nervous about this service as I haven’t seen good things about it. Do you think they’ve worked out the issues?
