I think people have the wrong idea, the £48 is for three months. It’s £16 a month.

I just cannot wrap my head around subscription book club boxes! I’m a huge bookworm and I know the point of a book club is to try something that might be new but you’re paying for it. There are no take backs if you hate the book. I usually get mine from the library or amazon. As for this subscription, it sounds fun but a little weird because you don’t get a book. I’d like to see a review before I consider the box.

Why oh why don’t they just include the book? I get trying to be different but that would be like Julep sending nail tools but omitting the polish. Except in that situation you likely have other polish to use. Not so with a specific book. $25 USD + shipping (based on my UK shipping experiences and depending on box size/weight, it could be another $15) and no book = ridiculous. That would be around $40/month for some chips/cookies, a bookmark and what, a reading light? It’s sad to know lots of teen fans are buying this (well more likely their parents are). It’s rather shameless self promotion, as in “I’m so fabulous you should copy my personal preferences, including buying the books I read. But go out and buy the book for this book club sub yourself. I’m only sending some extras that are useless as standalone book club items.” I’m convinced that everyone wants to get on the sub box train, no matter what they have to offer. They don’t need longevity as a company, just a few months to make a tidy profit. Sigh.

I can understand that people might have different preferences for the book (Kindle or other e-reader, hardcover, audio book, whatever). But you should be able to mark that when you subscribe to the box and have it included (or a promo code to download it, or even an Amazon gift card to offset some or all of the cost).

Turns out the $75.00 is for the 3 month sub. I didn’t know anything about the person behind the sub. Now I can see why her sub is sold out. I learn a lot on this blog.

I meant to type, 1 GBP = 1.62$ sorry

Umm, it is $70+ and not $25. 1 USD = 1.26 pounds. So, when you multiply, you actually get $79 for this sub. Pricey!

Yes, but that’s for the 3 month sub, so each box is a little over $25 + shipping 🙂

Oh & it’s only $26 a box, not $75

Although I absolutely love Carrie & McFly have been my favorite band for years, I still would not pay this much. Luckily, she has a very large & very young fan base who is going nuts over this. For those of you who don’t know, she also plays Eponine in Les Mis at the Queens Theatre in London. Very talented.
BUT if McFly were to start a subscription box, I’d be all over that 🙂

I believe the 48 pounds is for a 3 month subscription, making it 16 pounds per box?
I still don’t think I’ll be getting it thought, considering there’s no book.

If that’s true, it’s much better. But still $25 per box (plus shipping) and it doesn’t include the book…

This is a joke, right? It costs $75 plus shipping and she sends you, maybe $5 worth of stuff. I’m guessing she won’t get a lot of subscribers but, considering the profit, she won’t need too many. It would be interesting to see a review even though I have no intention of buying. Excuse me, while I grab a snack and read a book which has a beautiful bookmark that I got free from the book store.

Went to the site just out of curiosity and believe it or not, it is sold out!! I was wondering what you would get for $75.

The book she’s reading this month has HORRIBLE reviews and sounds like this is better suited for ages 13-17.. sounds totally worth $75.00… : /

I love books and reading but…$75? And you don’t get a book with the box? And you have to pay for shipping? And I don’t know who this person even is? That seems very excessive. There are other book subscriptions that seem like a much better plan. Still, I generally just check out books from the library.

Yep! I get my books from the library too! I reserve them online, they sende an email saying they’re ready and I just walk in and pick them up. Easy, convenient and free!!

Oh and I’ve been reading the books from the Birchbox Book Club, also free. 🙂
Sara
Me too! Love the free books at the library.

The whole premise is just daft! And that’s the polite version, lol.

I think $75 for a monthly book subscription is nuts! Especially when it doesn’t include a book, what’s the point of it?? For $75 dollars you can buy yourself a ton of snacks, a ton of bookmarks and a few books. I love reading, but this is just nuts, I don’t even know who Carrie is.

With all that being said, I love Carrie (almost as much as her brother) and think she has fantastic taste and reads interesting books.

I think I’ll pass on this one, wouldn’t mind reading a review though. If I join a book box, I want a book included. Plus, I can’t justify the price as it doesn’t include shipping to the US.

I feel like an idiot asking this, but who is Carrie?

Valerie
Carrie Hope Fletcher. She’s Tom Fletcher’s sister and a musician in her own right. She’s also very famous on YouTube.

Who is Tom Fletcher?

Isn’t that around $75.00 USD for food, bookmark, and a gift? I will enjoy reading a review on it, but not to purchase.

Yes, $75 PLUS whatever it costs to ship from the UK to the US. I love SBs, but will pass on this one… I don’t really see the point of it?

$75 plus the cost of shipping.
Plus the cost of the book! You’re looking at $100, at least, I’d guess, or pretty close to it.
