What do you think of the colors? Which box / add-ons are you getting this month? I love the kick-off of fall, so I'm having a hard time picking just two colors!

Also, I got this email yesterday and wanted to share in case you haven't seen it:

Jane's Letter

I know there have been a few comments on this site about poor customer service experiences with Julep. It's nice to see that they are owning their mistakes, and I hope that they do follow through on their promise of doing a lot better. What do you think?

Wow, I wish I could skip this month. The colors are hideous. Unfortunately no skip.

The skip is in the drop down box that says “send it to me” or “send it to a friend”. They were trying to hide it! Scetchey!

I just downloaded the iPhone app and logged into my Maven account to get the free Jules for downloading/logging into the app. I noticed that I have a skip option on the app, and I wasn’t grandfathered into the skip club! Has anyone else noticed this?

I skipped this month before the window opened up. So I couldn’t see the choices. Can someone take a screenshot of the choices. I’m curious to see what I’m missing out on this month.
Thanks!

I totally customized by box this month – I am getting the Oxblood & gold polish as well as the clear coat! I’m super excited! This is only my second box – do you usually only get 3 products per box?

Serious management issues over there. August was a near-disaster and they are still doing major recovery to save irate customers from quitting. (Of which I am one. I don’t join sub boxes for extra stress and have to check my credit card.) Plus the costs to Julep of a mad-dash mailing just to get things to people, even though they are the wrong things, it’s some nail care! The sincerity of the CEO is clear, this is her dream. But she needs more heavy hitters guiding Operations.

Julep concept’s great – see, your profile determines the contents of your box, “Bombshell,” “Classic,” “Boho,” etc. But with the Monthly Open period it is easy to mix things up to personalize. The default choice based on profile will be in your box if you don’t go to the open 4 days. Most profiles are pre-set for 2 nail polish and 1 beauty product (like a base coat of lip gloss). Boho might get a funky green polish, and Classic could get a taupe or deep red. This is just a rough idea.

Do look in the left side bar on homepage (name, card, address) for a PROFILE line and click that. You can fill it out over and over, very simple, gives you an idea of the styles the will pick for you.

I don’t like the feeling of having to get up and dash to the PC at 4 am on the 20th and compete to get the goods. There’s another sloppy mgmt thing, why don’t they make it MIDNIGHT PRECISELY on the 20th like any other internet company? We on the west coast might get a jump, but anyone could set their alarm if they are fanatics, if the are told the precise time. Everyone would feel informed, and could decide for themselves. This whole Julep might be too chaotic for me, I like superior, not just good, customer service.

My understanding is that (minus add-ons and upgrades), you get:

2 polishes and a beauty product

OR 3 polishes

OR 2 beauty products

Thanks! I must have gotten really spoiled with my first box – I received 3 polishes, a hand exfoliator and foot polish!

I have not had dealings with customer service but haven’t contacted them after hearing all the problems. I really should have last month as my polishes were all wrong but I ended up liking most of what I got. Not sure if I will order or skip – I do have enough Jules for a free box!

I recently cancelled Julep (not for ANY problems with Julep, but just to save money and because I was up to my ears with polish!), and I was terrified with all the horror stories I’ve read about cancelling.

But, really, it wasn’t bad at all. When I called, I initially picked the option to cancel, and it sent me to a voicemail. So I called back and picked the “billing” option instead. She cancelled me in 5 minutes, gave me a confirmation number, and I got a confirmation e-mail, and I wasn’t charged for last month.

I agree they could make it easier – the fact that the cancellation option automatically goes to a voicemail is a little dicey – but as long as you can get to a person, they can cancel you, and it’s not bad.

I went with the Bombshell box but switched out the denim creme for Quinn – the purple charcoal satin. I’m not too crazy about the fall colors (much preferred August’s colors but got my welcome box last month). I added on the dry shampoo and Queen Anne. I used the app instead of the website and it worked great and was easy to use! I was so excited to make my first customized box!

They gave me 1900 Jules this month for the problems they were having shipping things. That is 100 pts away from a free box. I wasnt upset about it to begin with but the extra points are awesome!

I got 2600 Jules. I wonder how they decided who got what. Last month I cashed in Jules and got a free box. This month I got it free again & w/ add ons.

I went in and made my selection already, I was happy I could swap the lip stick for a gloss instead. I am hoping my box is good this month as earlier this month I purchased some stuff aside from my box and was missing an item. Shipping is just kind of slow, as I am still waiting for the missing item to arrive this week.

I have not had the difficulties others have had, but I think a lot of the problem is with DHL. Also, they launched a massive marketing campaign and simply did not have enough staff to handle the growth. They can avoid some of this by allowing the customer to control their account–why does one have to call to cancel? I will stick with Julep a bit longer, but eventually I will have more nail polish than I know what to do with.

I haven’t had too much trouble with Julep CS. I got this crazy deal for 3 months for $16.97. I thought I received my last box at the beginning of this month. So I e-mailed the “cancel” address and got a response back in less than 1 business day telling me I had two months left and to cancel before October 20. I guess I got 5 boxes for $16.97? I don’t really understand how they are counting things. Oh well. I have been over my account a few times and I can explain all the charges. My July (?) box was fine, I swapped out the eyeliner color and I received exactly what I chose.

I got online starting at 6AM so I could lock in my choices. Wasn’t actually able to choose until I got to work. But I read about a lot of issues people were having with out of stock stuff, so I didn’t want to take any chances. Because I seriously don’t want to be stuck with light pink. Which I hate.

Anyway, I took “Classic with a Twist” but switched out the purplish polish for Mary Lee. Then I added Karmen and Celia with Jules. I’m going to have kind of a red box. But nothing looks exactly like a duplicate of anything I already have. And I like red.
