GoodeBox Eco Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Info

This month is a special box featuring brands from A Night For Green Beauty. The product cards also include coupon codes if you want to buy more products from that line.

GoodeBox Eco Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Lipgloss

Juice Beauty Reflecting Gloss in Fig - FULL SIZE! Value $15

Beauty Counter Lip Sheer in Plum - FULL SIZE! Value $28

I love Juice Beauty lip glosses - getting a full-sized one in a subscription box is always a win! And this Beauty Counter lip sheer is new to me - and I'm so impressed with the formula. I love the amount of color it provides, and it's very moisturizing and shiny. (I was surprised though to see that the lip sheer is made with lots of artificial colors).

GoodeBox Eco Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Cream

Province Apothecary Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator with Lavender & Green Tea - Sample Size Value $5?

Kahina Giving Beauty Night Cream - Sample Value $2?

This exfoliator has an amazing lavender scent, and it's a dry powder that you mix with water so I should be able to get about a week's worth of uses out of this little container!

GoodeBox Eco Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Alima

MUN No. 1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum - 1 ml Value $4.75

Alima Pure Eyeliner Pencil in Coffee Brown - FULL SIZE Value $18

I love the Alima Pure brand, but I had not tried their eyeliner yet, so this was another great product in the box for me. It goes on very smooth, and you can smudge it quite a bit after it's applied. If you want it to stay in place I would definitely recommend using it with an eyelid primer.

Verdict: I wish they did special boxes like this one all the time! I love that there were 3 full size amazing products in this box! I paid $18 for the August box and I received almost $75 worth of products!

What did you think of the August GoodeBox?

Is anyone planning on swapping the Beauty Counter Lip Sheer? I would’ve loved this box but didn’t sign up in time and Goodebox said it’s too late to receive one for August 🙁

Looking for input on the different eco boxes. I was hit again today with an allergic reaction to something = very swollen eyes and lots of itching. (got the allergic reaction under control but not fun.) I think it was some Simple face wipes – parabens likely.

What I am really looking for is good moisturizer and more skincare aspect than makeup. No parabens or fragrances. I seem to be doing pretty well with the boxes I am getting (Birchbox, Blush, Sample Society, Glossybox and Julep.) But I am debating switching some to Eco boxes. (Dropping Sample Society and Julep probably – Julep mostly cause I have gotten quite the collection of nail polish now.) Got to stop going to the local Walgreens for stuff though….

Any input on the best boxes for those with sensitive skin? And whether they lean more to makeup or skincare… Thanks

Petit Vour and Vegan Cuts Beauty are both great. They send a good mix of both!

I am going to look into both of those, been eyeing Petit Vour for a month now. Will have to check out Vegan Cuts Beauty.

I just received an email from Goodebox advertising a one-time August box for $22… It states the following: “These are single Goodeboxes. Purchase of a single Goodebox does not create a membership nor does it alter a current membership. These are the products Goodebox members received in their August Goodeboxes. Very few boxes will contain La Bella Figura, Josh Rosebrook, One Love Organics or Zoe Organics due to limited quantities. The special offers included are valid and are not to be shared or publicly posted. Orders will be shipped within 7-10 business days.”

I am totally confused. Why did Liz pay $18 and get over $70 worth of products? Now they are offering another box for $22? What if you’re already a subscriber and paid $18 for August? That’s double profits for a box they should have sent to everyone, to be fair. I understand the customization; however, the values of boxes should NEVER differ from person to person.

Hi Ashley – Goodebox here. The recent $22 boxes are single boxes we make available from time to time, intended really for non-members or perhaps members who might want a second box, which is why they also cost more. The product mix they are made from is the same, and they will vary box to box as well. The value of boxes between members will vary because we customize them, so not everyone gets the same products because profiles indicate different interests, needs and the like. Over time, box values tend to even out even if in a given month, they are somewhat different. We are working toward trying to ensure a more even value across the board, but as you can imagine, it’s pretty complicated given al of the potential product combinations. I hope this helps clear things up and feel free to drop us a line any time with ideas. We’re always open to feedback 🙂

Cheers,

The Goodebox Team

Hi! I was so excited to receive my Goodebox after all the awesome reviews I’ve seen. Finally it arrived and I was sadly disappointed. There were 5 items the value of which was less than the $18 I paid for the box. I think I will give Goodebox one more try but if that box is anything like this box, I’ll have to try something else.

Goodebox

Hi Liz and the rest of you ladies 🙂 I thought we would chime in here to address and concerns and answer questions. Liz – thank you for doing a lovely review! Always detailed and straightforward. The box Liz has reviewed was not special because she reviews them (in fact, she is a paying member), it was built based on her member preferences in her profile. This has been a learning process for us with newer software, a growing number of combinations and greater ability to choose products better for members based on their profiles. The cost for this box was $18.00 which is the monthly member fee. The $110.00 box was a Limited Edition Deluxe Box that was sold separately and featured 6 full size products, the proceeds went to benefit Baby2Baby as part of the A Night for Green Beauty event taking place in Los Angeles this Thursday, August 7th.

We have well over 50 combinations each month, so often, members will not receive the same box. Several products may be the same, with others that are different and it varies month to month.

Regarding Beauty Counter and synthetic colors – let me start by saying we all know that just because it’s “natural” doesn’t mean it’s good for you (Ecoli, Poison Ivy, etc). If you take a look at Skin Deep, you’ll see all of the colors they use receive very safe ratings and as a beauty brand, their safety testing for every single ingredient they use and transparency is second to none. We just wanted to make that clear to alleviate any concerns and to help raise the level understanding on “safe” beauty ingredients.

We hope all members are enjoying their Goodeboxes and we’re always open to feedback, so feel free to drop us a line at [email protected].

Cheers,

The Goodebox Team

Thanks for addressing… Just a suggestion: Don’t you think all of the combinations sent out should be very close to or equal in value? Someone should not be receiving a low value box while others are receiving an extraordinarily high one.

Goodebox

Yes, it is a good suggestion and we are working toward that. Our assignment software that helps us customize is constantly being improved. Sometimes we have to choose between best product fit or higher value. For example, if a member indicated they are very interested in skin care and body care and only somewhat interested in makeup, we tend to assign them what they are more interested in even if the “value” of the makeup item is higher. Does that make sense? We could scrap customization in favor of equality, but then the instance of receiving something not right for your skin type or interests increases, so, we opt for best fit. Over a few months, the value should even out between boxes but we are looking at ways to make this more equal. Our goal is really to help people discover brands making healthy beauty and provide a chance to try products that seem to be a good fit for them for a few days at least. Thanks for the suggestions and support 🙂

Cheers,

The Goodebox Team

I think thats a great idea.

Melanie B.

I got this same exact box with all the same exact products-just different shades of the gloss and lipstick. I have to say I really wish I would have gotten the fig color! Would have looked much better on my skin tone than the color I got. I got the juice beauty gloss in pink though, so that was nice. 🙂 I hated that mun oil…smells like roses that have been thrown in a dumpster or something. NOT good.

Emily

I got almost the identical box, one of my samples was different. Maybe this is because of the customization? But this was my last box from them, most of my boxes have been much less good.

I think this box may have been a one-time special purchase box… this was the $110 limited edition box they had for sale… not their normal box: goodebox dot com/sign-first-dibs-night-green-beautys-limited-edition-deluxe-beauty-box/

Hm, I pay for a regular subscription and didn’t sign up for the Limited Edition boxes – plus it looks like the limited edition boxes are supposed to have 5-6 full sized products and a value of $300+. I’ll reach out to GoodeBox about the discrepancy in boxes.

I thought all Goodebox’s were the same? Why is Liz’s different?

Your box consistently looks better than mine This month was the worst as it was all samples. I read a lot of great reviews for this box so I really had high hopes. I think I gave it a fair chance…might be time to move onto something else.

Mine was blah one full size juice beauty and the rest free sample ….unhappy … Your box looks fab

This was my first box of goodies. I received 1 full size product and no product cards with discount codes. I am disappointed, I hope next month is better.

Goodebox

Hi Michele – If you did not receive the cards, please email us at [email protected]. We strive to make sure boxes are complete, but sometimes errors happen :). It’s not common for boxes to contain more than 1 full size product since it’s a “trial and discovery” service. We sure hope you enjoy the samples included in your Goodebox!
