Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box #ZIM03

Andrew Zimmern's box is one of my many Quarterly subscriptions I've signed up for. (FYI - if there's a curator you want to see me review, let me know! Currently I am also subscribed to: Threadless, Kath Younger, CreativeBug, GQ, RiotRead, BookRiot, Coco, Nina Garcia, Bill Nye (review coming soon!), Bianca Jade, No More Dirty Looks, Jordan Sparks, Jessica Comingor, and of course the My Subscription Addiction box!)

Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box Review #ZIM03 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator discussing the theme for the mailing, and details on each item they included. The theme for this box is the summer road trip!

Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box Review #ZIM03 Candy

Necco Wafers & Pearson's Salted Nut Roll - Value $3

These are Andrew's favorite candy snacks for road trips.

Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box Review #ZIM03 Jerky

Border Springs Farm Lamb Smoked Jerky - Value $5?

(I couldn't find the jerky on their site, so I'm guessing on the value). I couldn't sample this one since it had soy sauce (which contains wheat) as an ingredient, but my husband was happy to try it out. He loves jerky but wasn't a big fan of this one.

Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box Review #ZIM03 Cards

Hypertheticals 50 Questtions for Insane Conversations - Retail Value $15 (on sale for $11)

This is definitely an interesting card deck for road trips or as a fun alternative to board games. I'm excited to try these out!

Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box Review #ZIM03 Sticker

Glacier National Park Sticker - Value $3?

Barnacle - Value $8

This Barnacle suction tool is supposed to let you attach your phone or iPod to any solid surface like a windshield. It gets mixed reviews on Amazon, so I may just use it as a desk stand for my phone.

Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Subscription Box Review #ZIM03 North

North Cap - Value $34

I was surprised by how much I like this cap! I was planning on gifting or swapping it, but after I tried it on I decided I'm keeping it!

Verdict: I paid $50 for this box and received about $70 worth of items. I like the theme of the box, and it does kind of make me want to take a summer road trip! While everything in this box wasn't for me (food items), I still enjoyed it.

What do you think of #ZIM03?

Has anyone heard anything about shipping dates for the October box?
Thanks

I just received The CreativeBug Quarterly box, and I think it’s a really cool concept. Since that’s one of the ones Liz said she subscribes to, I can’t wait to see what she and others who received it think.

I also just got the Hitha on the Go box from Quarterly. I liked her first one, but didn’t get it in time. That one got a lot of criticism because it didn’t include many items. This second box was GREAT. I’m not a huge traveler, but these items will make life much easier for me when I do. Among the items in the box were a Baggu bag to use anywhere from the grocery store to the airport or the beach and this Missoni-like super soft eye mask for the plane or night time… either works . It was well worth it for me.

Did your husband notice anything off about the jerky? Ours was covered in mold. My poor husband ate a piece before noticing. I’m emailing Quarterly tonight with a picture.

No, he just told me he tried it and didn’t care for it – maybe that’s because something was wrong with it. Let me know what they say.

Quarterly just got back to me and it sounds like there were some defects in other packages as well. They’re reaching out to the company, but in the meantime they gave me a credit on my account. It’s kind of funny, I enjoy the Zimmern boxes but it seems like there’s always been one thing off in each box I’ve received. The first one was missing the paella recipe, the second one had two back labels on the soy sauce, and then this one had the moldy jerky. I must say that they were great with the liquids they’ve shipped and I haven’t had any issues with leaks. I subscribe to a bunch of other quarterly boxes and haven’t had any issues with them other than delayed shipping times.

I thought the first couple of boxes were ok but I totally don’t get this box and it would be a disappointment to me had I subscribed.

I’m super interested to see what’s in the Creative Bug box when you receive it. I’m currently taking Whimseybox and Derby Smart but am always open to new experiences, lol.

I would like to see what’s in the Jordan sparks box!! Have you reviewed that one yet?

I would love to see a review of the Rosario Dawson and the Hitha On The Go boxes. Thanks for making such awesome reviews! You’ve definitely gotten me interested in some new boxes.

The question game looks fun. Re Quarterly Boxes, did they give you a hint what is in the CreativeBug? I go back and forth on it.

No idea on what’s in the box – sorry!

I poked around their Facebook and now have an idea of what is in the box. I think I will wait for your review and buy it if it interests me if still available.

Melanie

You could make a fridge magnet with the sticker. Just stick on one of those thin advertising magnets that come glued to phone books (if your community still produces paper phone books!), then just cut it out. 🙂

That’s a great idea, thanks!

What’s funny is that I got this box, after just returned from a road trip myself (and went into couple national parks too). If it come about 1.5 weeks earlier, it would have been perfect. I am keeping the hat too, that is much more cuter than the Nina hat. Snacks are going to be eaten, and I will use the barnacle at work. I will be swapping the cards, won’t be needing them. I’m not sure what to do with the sticker yet, any takers?
