Julep Maven Review & Free Box Code - July

Julep Maven is a monthly nail polish and beauty subscription box. They make all their own products, so subscribers get a good value each month – over $40 retail worth of product for $24.99 a month. (Julep recently raised their prices, but apparently there will be more customization too. Current subscribers will keep the $19.99 rate).

And, if you sign up for 3-months up front, you also get the $19.99 rate!

Each month Julep releases a new collection on the 20th, and you can decide which box you want, you can upgrade to the entire collection, or you can skip that month. (They recently changed their skip policy – If you’re a new subscriber, you earn a skip every 6 months).

This month I decided to go with the Classic with a Twist box!

Julep Bare Body Milk – Value $24

This body milk is lightweight and absorbs quickly – perfect for a summer lotion. I also like that it’s sulfate and paraben free – I’m just not sure that I love the scent.

I love sparkles, shimmers, etc. with nail polish, but I always come back to cremes as my favorite nail polish finish. And these shades are gorgeous, and great for summer pedicures!

Verdict: I’m thrilled with my nail polish choices this month, and I’m still on the fence about the body milk. It’s still a pretty good value for me though. (I pay $19.99 a month). What did you pick from Julep this month?

  1. I got the Foot lotion and stick stuff this time. I am not terribly impressed with the Callous file thing they have. Maybe I am not using it right. But the Lotion was really good for my feet. I have yet to try the stick.

  2. I just received my (delayed) box…there were no beauty products at all, just two tootsie rolls and a couple of coupons. Super disappointed. I’ll be canceling ASAP.

    • That sounds like an error. You should try calling them (faster than e-mail, especially right now since it’s not selection time). They should make that up to you. I’ve always gotten everything in my box that I was supposed to get.

  3. Got my box today. I like the polishes, but I think the lotion stinks :/

  4. I still haven’t received my shipping information – granted I did have to update my billing info (I haven’t taken a box in quite awhile) and it was confirmed that my order went through and I was charged, but no shipping information as of yet. Anyone else have this issue?

    • I received my tracking information on 6/30. Try checking your SPAM. My Julep emails randomly started going to spam recently.

      • Thanks Kristina! I ended up being able to reach someone on the phone and they said I should receive my shipping information by tomorrow.

        • I e-mailed about a regular (non-sub) order and finally got a reply today that said “the shipping information on our site is not accurate.” Not kidding, it really said that.

          Oh well, the order in question arrived today. My Maven box came almost a week ago, by the way.

  5. This months box is taking FOREVER to reach me! Excited for the polish colors, hoping I like the lotion formula…

    • Mine is too! I got an email saying there was a delay and they were crediting my account 100 Jules. ($1?) it said they were having issues shipping polishes first class… My box doesn’t have polishes this month! Lol

      • Did you get your Jules? As of today I do not have mine.

        • I got my box (see comment below) but the Jules have not been credited to my account, either.

      • I wouldn’t doubt all this complete change had anything to do with, some girl and everyone else telling them to get rid of DHL. They showed her. This will be my fourth month my box has came late. No sorry s or anything. They never tried to charge my card in the first place till the first. They said there was no funds which was a lie. Then finally they send me a track email on the 7th. So for a fifth time i wont receive mine until after the window. And I live one state over. I have been with julep over a year and a half. I feel this is just getting worse. My items always come missing or broken now. And I feel like they want me to leave.

    • I got mine on Thursday. (Did all polish and no lotion, though.)

  6. Has anyone had issues with the customer service. I ordered one box and shortly after called to cancel. I was suprised to get a voicemail and had to leave a message. I left a message to cancel my membership and left my name, email and phone number and asked for someone to call back. I never hear back and next thing I knew I got an email that a box was being shipped. I sent an email 5 days ago and never got a response.

    • They are usually great when you call and talk to someone. Never had to leave a message. I had to skip a few times. Even cancelled before. Try calling them.

    • I’m trying to cancel too and am always on hold. For like 20 minutes or more. Plus my box didn’t come with any candy. =(

  7. I’m kind of over Julep, I have enough Jules for a free box so I’ve been waiting for a good box to redeem them – but even with that I’ve skipped 3 in a row.

  9. I did the upgrade to the full collection of polishes this month — there were a lot of shades that I didn’t have. Did some add-ons and got the “surprise gift” which was two polishes, the names of which I have already forgotten.

    Gonna be good next time and only get the regular box with no extra cost. I’m out of room in my nailpolish rack already!

    Was thinking about canceling when my 3-month sub is done but now I’m kind of on the fence about that — I do like the polish formula a lot and I’ve canceled a lot of other things lately.
