Beauty DNA Subscription Box Review – July

Beauty DNA is a new monthly beauty subscription service that sends you one full size beauty item each month based on your preferences. Right now they have three categories of items: skincare, hair, and body.

FYI – This is a very new service, and they are still in beta. (I’ve found that their customer care is very responsive to issues and feedback though!)

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum - Value $90

I think this is the best selection Beauty DNA has made for me so far for two reasons: 1) It's free of all the types of ingredients I like to avoid (especially in skincare). 2) It's a brand that's completely new to me - so this was a wonderful discovery.

Verdict: I'm really thrilled with my beauty item this month - I paid $25 for this box and received a $90 full size product! I'm really hoping this night serum works for me, and I have enough of the product to find out if it does!

What did you get from Beauty DNA this month? Are you happy with their selections and the value?

I got the same serum! It was my first box from them, and my first subscription to any box (welcome to the dark side of more boxes I’m sure). I loved the serum and the ingredients etc, so much I went and bought the C Day serum from the same company as it looked good.

I got mine today. Orlane Paris Absolute Anti-Fatigue Eye Contour Creme. Retail value of $125 (I think that’s the highest I’ve seen yet, for me, anyway, though this is only my third one). Sounds like something I will like, too (is supposed to help with eye puffiness).

I hope I will get that as I have eye puffiness (but not dark circles). Dark circles seems to be the thing most products target! Glad to know it’s out there and I might get it!

I don’t get dark circles, either. Have been using the product for a few weeks now and I think it’s helping.

Can’t give any guidance on the profile quiz, though. There were very few things I marked as “never send.” I was excited about or OK with most of the choices except there were a few fragrances I opted out of.

I was thrilled to receive the Skin Ceuticals Phloretin CF secrum this month.

Well, this month’s selection was great! I received the SkinCeuticals Redness Neutralizer. It’s a moisturizer that’s paraben, alcohol, and fragrance free. I really like this moisturizer. It’s light and it’s suppose to calm the redness and I think it has. (I’m really bad at noticing differences in my skin.) It’s retail value is $66 which is a awesome value, but what if I want to continue with this product? I wouldn’t pay $66. I think they should have some kind of discount with these products if you buy them from their site. Overall, this sub has been my favorite.

I wanted sunblock so I set my profile up as such and did receive one. I got the Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Defense Sunscreen. It’s not bad, but still skittle greasy for my face (it says it can go anywhere), but ok for my arms. It retails for $42 so still a good deal for the sub but not nearly as great as yours!

Haven’t gotten mine yet (they usually ship for me very late in the month, I guess because of when I signed up). My first product seemed like it would be a good match but didn’t end up working with my hair (not their fault, it was just one of those things you can’t know until you try it). My second product was wonderful. I’ll stick with this sub for awhile because I would never be able to spend $65 on one jar of skin cream.

After three great months, this month was a fail for me. I have everything ‘rose’ possible marked ‘do not want’ because I am allergic to roses. This month I got a sunscreen that contains rose hips.

In their favor, I did contact them to report this and ask if it is possible to mark my profile to indicate the allergy. They apologized and said they would so mark my file and also try to match me with another product to replace the one that I am unable to use. They also reported they are looking into finding a way to include allergy information in the profiles (which I also suggested).

So, I am reserving judgement for this month until I receive the replacement product.

I want to report back that today I did receive a replacement product for the item I could not use. I was curious as to whether I would receive something in the same line, something similar or just flat out something different. I did receive a different sunscreen in the same line.

Very pleased with their customer service.
