Julep Maven Review & Free Box Coupon Code - June

Julep Maven is a monthly nail polish and beauty subscription box. They make all their own products, so subscribers get a good value each month – over $40 retail worth of product for $24.99 a month. (Julep recently raised their prices, but apparently there will be more customization too. Current subscribers will keep the $19.99 rate).

And, if you sign up for 3-months up front, you also get the $19.99 rate!

Each month Julep releases a new collection on the 20th, and you can decide which box you want, you can upgrade to the entire collection, or you can skip that month. (They recently changed their skip policy – If you’re a new subscriber, you earn a skip every 6 months).

This month I decided to go with the Bombhell box!

Julep Maven Review & Free Box Coupon Code - June 2014 Polish

Julep Nail Color in Colette – Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Sera – Value $14

If you're new to Julep polish, it's vegan and 5-free. I personally like the formula, (I know some people love it and some people don't), and I've found that the Freedom Polymore Topcoat has made all my Julep shades even better. (It's like a gel finish without the hassle of removing gel polish).

I'm really happy with both of my picks this month - Sera is a beautiful micro glitter that will look great on its own or layered over a different color, and I don't have many purple shades so Colette is a great addition to my ever growing Julep collection!

Julep Maven Review & Free Box Coupon Code - June 2014 Pixi

Wonka Pixy Stix - Bonus Item

Julep Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat - Value $18

I'm very interested in this smoothing base coat - especially because I hate when polish stains my nails. I've been impressed with most of the other nail treatment products I've tried from Julep so I have high hopes for this!

(If you are wondering about the pixi sticks - for every box Julep usually includes a little bonus item - candy, chapstick, hairpins, etc.)

Verdict: I like getting beauty products from Julep, but I'm kind of glad their extra item this month was another nail care item - I think it is what they do best. I'm happy with my June selections - what did you get from Julep this month?

Juleps Mystery sale is going on. I got some nail polishes for only $2 – they seem to be selling out quick. I tried a few coupon codes none worked. I’m glad I waited for the sale 🙂

I went with the Boho Glam box and added on the 2 pack sponges, Performance top coat and Sera (which is beautiful, I am wearing it now in two coats). Because I got three add-ons, the surprise gift they promised was two polishes; Madison and a bright, shimmery orange polish. I always wanted Madison so I was pleasantly surprised because I did not pick three add-ons “just to get” the surprise. 🙂

So glad your items came in the nice Maven packaging we all love. My items this month were individually thrown in the bottom of a giant standard brown shipping box with some crumpled brown paper for packaging on top. Did anyone else have this issue this month? Besides that, love the colors this month and am super excited to try the new base coat!

I had this issue not with my monthly box but the order containing two of the Game Day mystery items. The one mystery item contained two polishes and some buffing blocks inside one of those small mesh drawstring bags and it sort of shuffled to the bottom of the large box.. wasn’t even wrapped in anything to keep them from breaking. The other mystery item was inside a gift box but it was like they just threw both items in and placed some paper on top.

I went with the Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat, Oxygen Nail treatment and buffer blocks this month. I just signed up and had gotten a few colors so I went with this option. Sometimes I need my nails to look nice without necessarily having a lot of time for color so I am hoping this give a nice natural finish.

I did like the gel coat. I am new to Julep and I did try the coral color I got in the intro box. It was a bit more fluorescent than I usually wear, especially in the office 🙂 My daughter will enjoy wearing it. I think it lasted about 4 days without a major chip but I am pretty rough with my nails. I am a fan of Zoya polish, that lasts a good week for me without major peeling.

I subscribed and the first free box came with three polishes plus I also ordered eye pencils. Eye pencils flaked off pretty fast. The one pink polish is my favorite all time because it starts out bright and after being in the sun fades to a beautiful pearlized light pink. Its like having a new color everyday. The Flora purple color is beautiful but will not dry. Ive tried everything!!! Contacted customer service Nell and she acknowledged but never got back to me after initial email. I cancelled subscription after all the new policy confusion and lack of concern but still ordered a mystery box that should arrive soon. Maybe they put in another polish to compensate. I feel they messed up with new policies and customer care.

I guess I’m confused about the new pricing scheme. I’m a Julep Maven, but I was under the impression that current subscribers had to upgrade to the $24.99 price in order to be able to customize their box. Is this the case? Julep has not done a great job explaining the new program, IMO. I read on one blog that they were doing away with Jules — does anyone know if this is the case?

You can keep the $19.95 price if you agree to a 3-month plan. I did this, and I was only charged for this month’s box. So it seems like they don’t charge you the whole 3-months up front (unless they change it again!) I hope this helps!

I think that’s correct – to be able to customize your box you would have to get the “new” membership at $24.99. Also, I did get an email about jules going away and instead if you refer someone you get a $15 discount code. Hope that helps – and I agree, I don’t think they’ve done a great job at explaining it either – maybe in part because it seems so complicated!

So far I am very pleased with Julep and excited that I could choose my box. I got the nail oxygen treatment and the charming lip gloss. And the little buffer blocks are soooo cute

The oxygen nail treatment is the one thing I DO like from Julep!

I can’t remember where I saw this earlier today but if you use the code freebox with the $19.99 a month/3 month deal, you get your welcome box free without paying shipping. Not sure if this a new thing?

I loved this box! Natalia is my favorite.

How long does Julep polish usually last for you? I got my free box and used a shimmer polish and it lasted for 5 days before chipping. I was very impressed. Then I used an OPI glitter polish and it barely lasted 2 days before chipping horribly. I’m not sure if the finish is a factor or if all Julep usually last that long. If they do, I will be done with OPI and jump on the Julep band wagon full time.

I’ve never gotten candy. 🙁

They never include it in my boxes either. This month, I did receive a small card that listed the ingredients in pixie sticks, but there were no pixie sticks! Lol I don’t care for the sugar, but it still seems a little unorganized on their part.

The candy was no big whoop. I got 3 REALLY small Wonka pixy sticks.

Do they send you shipping information for maven boxes? I just was curious when I was getting mine. I haven’t yet. My order I placed last week is suppose to be here this week, so I don’t know if it is coming separate or together.

I agree, I liked this months box ( I just got it today ) I especially liked the candy, it was fun, also the beige paper, verses the standard gloomy colored of paper I’ve been getting made it more cheerful. I’m only sticking with the nail polish boxes ( unless I get a mystery box ) I’m not fond of the beauty items they make. The only beauty product I found okay so far from them was the cool lip gloss that goes on cool. Otherwise not impressed. For june I selected 2 mystery nail polishes, not so bad a pink I would have normally purchased, an orange that is interesting, and I got an extra grey purple one I think called Whitney. It is my favorite new neutral. So overall I’m happy with this box.
