From The Lab Beauty Subscription Box Review - May

From the Lab is a unique beauty subscription box – each month they send you a new beauty product that isn’t on the market yet. The idea is that beauty companies heavily markup their products, so by getting the beauty product after it’s created and tested in the lab, they can send you the products for much less than you would pay once they are branded in the upcoming months/years.

From the Lab kindly sent me this box to review.

From the Lab Illuminating Under Eye Treatment No. 628

From the Lab Hydrating Lip Primer No. 629

This was my first time trying out makeup items from this subscription, and I'm impressed. The Under Eye Treatment was the item I was most excited about since I hate the dark circles under my eyes! It adds some very subtle light reflecting to your skin, and even though From the Lab says you can use it alone or under makeup, using it alone wouldn't cut it for my needs! I used it as a primer under my regular under eye concealer, and I think the result is better than just under eye concealer alone. This may be a new must in my daily routine!

The lip primer is designed for making your lipstick last much longer. I typically just wear lipstain with gloss, so it wasn't a perfect fit for my needs, but I did try it as just a lip balm to see how it works and for me. It kind of feels like a primer, so I won't be using it for lip balm needs.

Verdict: I'm impressed with the offerings and the value this month. I'll probably end up buying more of this under eye treatment from their shop too. The only thing I'm wondering though is if they make their products in one big batch, and when they sell out they are gone? Or if they continue to make new batches? I'll have to look into that!

What did you think of the May From The Lab box?

I loved that body serum…I think of it more like a treatment than a cream you know? It has good stuff in it too 🙂

I really love the under eye treatment as well!! The lip primer was OK and I would defintiely not pay what they claim the full price is. But I am excited to continue to use the eye treatment! It is fantastic!!

I agree about the body serum. I, too, tried this sub because of the great deal and was disappointed. Who wants to walk around feeling sticky? I won’t be continuing with this sub.

yeah, i am really confused about this sub. It seems like its just their own product. OR it could also seem like we are lab rats testing random beauty products. Is that essentially what it is? Are you expected to give detailed feedback on all the products you receive? I was reading on their website about how the actual ingredients have been tested, but not necessarily the mixture of ingredients that comprise each product.

I gave this sub a try because of a great promo code. I had the choice of a few different products and chose the body serum. It was not good at all. It was like putting hair gel all over my body – not moisturizing, too much fragrance. I was curious about this sub and glad I got the opportunity to try it so cheaply – am not interested in trying any of their other products, though.

This sub is so unappealing to me. Just generic products as far as I’m concerned, I don’t really believe this “we sell it before it gets to market!” business. Why would any brand name agree to do that?
