Elizabeth & Clarke Subscription Box Review - June

Elizabeth & Clarke is a women’s clothing subscription box – and they specialize in just shirts and tops! They make all their styles in house, and only do a limited amount of new designs each season, so they are able to keep the prices very reasonable.  Each season you get to preview the tops and pick your favorites. (There are usually 3 new tops, and a few classic styles they have available every season).

Elizabeth & Clarke Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Shirts

Elizabeth & Clarke kindly sent me this box to review, so while I didn’t get to pick my tops, paying subscribers get to!

Elizabeth & Clarke Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Tee

The Hart Tee

This is a simple black tee, and I love it! (It flares out a little at the hips and is long - exactly what I look for in a tee I will wear all the time!)

Elizabeth & Clarke Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Blouse

The Orton Blouse

I had to look this one up on the Elizabeth & Clarke facebook page to realize it is supposed to be oversized! You can roll up the sleeves and tuck in the waist for a more defined look though:

Elizabeth & Clarke Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Top

The Truman Top

This top is lined and very fitted. They show it styled with skinny jeans and I think it looks very chic.

Verdict: As always, I'm very impressed with the quality of materials, craftsmanship and design of these shirts - especially considering they are only $20 a top! I also love that every item is washer and dryer safe. (FYI - In my experience Elizabeth & Clarke pieces shrink a little in the laundry).

Which tops did you pick for the summer?

This was my first order and have always loved James Perse fit and quality. Made the choice to order all 5 shirts (which they allowed me to add on for $20/Sshirt) since I couldn’t decide and to help justify shipping to Canada. Very impressed with the quality and fit which even though they are a bit long I am quite short at 5’1”. If they shrink a bit it would be fine but over all very pleased.

I had to return mine again. I ended up cancelling. I’m 5’1 and all the shirts seem to be for longer torsos 🙁 I really do like the quality but the shoulders are either too big or the torso is always to long, which is a bummer because they have such cute styles for a great deal. I emailed them asking to let me know when they started doing petite sizing 😉

The June shipment was the first one that I received from E & C, and I ended up exchanging two of the three shirts that I received. The sizing was bananas…everything was way too big! I kept the Hart, but I’m exchanging the Truman for an entirely different shirt…it was so ill-fitting, huge in the bust and super tight in the hips. I’m also exchanging the Taylor for the same shirt, but a smaller size. I will say that the tops are very well made, though, and I’m looking forward to the autumn shipment. I think that those shirts will be more my style.

I got the Truman and loved it until I wore it and my husband said it looks like a baby “onesie” that didn’t get snapped together at the bottom. Lol – there goes my confidence in that one!

I received my box, and all three shirts are huge even though I ordered the size suggested by my measurements. I was disappointed, so I’m hoping that customer service can help me figure out the sizing issue.

Personally, I think these shirts fit so oddly. I am 5’6 and used to order a sz 10, but went down to a size 8 this round. Got 2 of the t-shirts and also The Orton blouse. I did not notice a difference between the 2 sizes at all. The shirts are all incredibly long in the torso and arms, but cinch in so tight in the waist. I know they say they make their clothes for the average girl, not a model.. but to me.. I think otherwise. If I were 5’10 and about 10 lbs less..these would would fit perfect.

I think this looks like a pretty interesting sun. The one thing that I draw issue with is how they identify the content of their tops. “Crepe de chine” doesn’t really mean anything unless you call out the content. Crepe de chine is typically made out of silk, but I don’t think they are using silk on a $30 top. It’s probably polyester.

I have all 3 and already wear the Truman and the Hart to work. Love it. I cannot pull off the Orton look, feel very expose when i wear it.

I got the hart and the Truman, too. I LOVEEEEE the Truman. I think it’s such a classic piece. I’m glad you say they’ll shrink, cause the hart is a little big.

Great minds think alike – I got the exact same shirts! Well, not that there are many more options. That’s my only complaint with this sub. I wish they had a wider selection and fewer past season repeats. If you’re a regular subscribers eventually you’ll run out of options. Hasn’t happened to me yet but it does limit what I can choose to not duplicate. All that being said, I absolutely love the shirts for both the high quality and the overall design and appearance. And you can’t beat the price. Especially considering I got in on the deal for 3/30!
