Club W Wine Subscription Box Review

Club W is a monthly wine subscription box. I've always been jealous of this box since the website looks really slick, the prices seem fair, and the selection looks really interesting too. (The reason for the jealousy is because they don't ship to PA!). Luckily for me my sister-in-law agreed to bring a box back with her next time she visited, so of course I placed an order!

Club W Wine Subscription Box Review - July 2014 Unboxing

The Subscription Box: Club W

The Cost: $13 a bottle (free shipping with 6 or more bottles)

Coupon: Use this link to get a free bottle with your first order!

The Products: Wine recommendations based on your palate preferences

Good to Know: You can skip any month from your account section - no need to call in.

FYI, when you first sign up you take a quick 6-question quiz to determine what wines you would prefer:

Club W quizI really liked this quiz a lot because none of the questions were directly about wine, so I could easily answer all the questions. (I am by no means a wine expert!)

My first box came with a Welcome to the Club card that outlines benefits of Club W (I believe they have an app).

Club W Wine Subscription Box Review - July 2014 Rose

2013 Coquine Rose - $13

2011 Emsworth Cellars White Blend - $13

I sometimes (almost always) judge wine bottles by their labels, so I thought this rose wine would be a sweet one, but it's actually dry and light - I'm a fan!

2013 Akoya Chardonnay - $13

2010 Dandy Chardonnay - $13

More evidence that I pick wine bottles by labels - the bowtie on this Chardonnay! Fortunately I've been lucking out so far as I loved this Chardonnay as well. (I'm so sorry I don't have the wine expertise to break down the scents and flavors in each bottle, but Club W does have videos on each bottle that explain the origins of the wine, tasting notes, etc).

2012 Patera Aghiorghitiko Red Blend - $13

2012 Ombre Pinot Noir - $13

You can go all-white, red or mix it up, and I decided to add two reds to the box. Out of all the wines I selected the Patera Aghiorghitiko Red Blend is the only one that had any Club W marking on the label:

Not sure if that is relevant info for most, but I thought it would be worth mentioning!

Verdict: I'm a big fan of this subscription - I love how easy it is to use the website, I think their curation is great, and so far all the wine recommendations they've made for me I've really enjoyed. (Once you take your quiz they will present you with recommendations, but you can select the wines for your box from their entire collection).

Have you tried Club W? What do you think of the wines?

So since you live in PA too… did you know our Fine Wine & Good Spirits Stores have a monthly wine club? You can even pick up your selections in-store. 🙂

I probably wouldn’t do it myself as my hubby & I are fairly handy at picking out our own wines, but just an FYI for anyone new & interested in starting out!
