Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May

Tandem Lane is a monthly subscription box for the elderly. It's basically a way to send loved ones a care package each month and include some personal touches. Tandem Lane kindly sent me this box to review.

Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May 2014 Info

Each box has a theme, and this month's theme is a Trip to the Farmers Market.

On the flip side of the card are details of each item included in large text.

Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May 2014 Photos

If you choose to, each month you can email Tandem Lane photos and a letter to include with your box. (I love this touch!)

(FYI - those photos and letter pictured here are samples - sadly I have not yet traveled to Paris!)

Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May 2014 Notepad

Pocket Posh Large Print Sudoku

Grocery List Pad

Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May 2014 Book

Live Laugh Love Photo Book

With every box you send a few photos, so I like that Tandem Lane includes a way for the recipient to keep them all together!

Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May 2014 Snack

Nutri Gran Fruit & Oat Harvest Bar

Chia Squeeze Vitality Snack

I'm going to share this box with my Grandma, so I'm trying to think how she would like each item, and while I think she'd be happy with this Nutri Grain bar - I definitely don't see her drinking chia seeds!

Tandem Lane Subscription Box Review - May 2014 Tote

Canvas Tote Bag

Verdict: It's hard to put a value on this box since most of the items don't have retail prices I can look up online, and there's also the part of this subscription that includes your letter and pictures. Overall, I think this care package subscription is a great idea, and I can't wait to see what my Grandma thinks of everything! (If she likes it I think I'll buy her a subscription - I want all the ladies in my life to love subscription boxes!)

What do you think of Tandem Lane?

I am a bit confused now. I assumed that this box, which has been reviewed by multiple websites now, would be what my mom gets as her May box. I just got an email though that says:

“Your Tandem Lane gift is on its way…Our Mother’s Day themed package includes items specifically selected to help your loved one feel appreciated. Contents include a beautiful diary, aromatherapy bath salts, an embroidered handkerchief, craft tea and a tea infuser, an indulgent brownie and themed puzzles. And, of course, your photos and note if you chose to include those!”

oh, I am not upset or anything–just surprised. Thought I’d share the contents of my mom’s May box though. (Not that I’ve seen photos, juts this text)

I think “elderly” is a bit off wording with this, I could see my mom who is 65 enjoying it, although I talk to her so often the photos and letter thing is kind of silly, my grandparents who are in their late 80s though would hate it, as most elderly have specialized diets my grandma wouldn’t be able to eat the nutrigrain bar because of it’s high sugar, and both would be grossed out by the chia (i put chia in like every thing and have offered it to them so I know for a fact)

My grandma is 94 and LOVED her May box. The bath salts were the only item that was off for her.

When subscribing, they have dietary options so you can select that the food items have no added sugar.

I don’t mean to be off topic in the comments Liz but I’ve emailed twice with no response I want to add swap items from the Cocotique subscription box but it’s not listed.

Those Chia squeezes are my favorite! Mamma Chia also makes a chia drink (basically the same thing), and I buy them by the case.

I bought the three month subscription for $40 via Gilt City for my mom (she’s 65) for mother’s day. They’ve not shipped the May box yet, but I was able to email them up to five photos and a note of up to around 300 words, I think. I sent photos from our honeymoon but now I don’t know what I’ll do for next month… I don’t have kids, which would make it a lot easier.

Anyway I don’t see mom liking the Chia Squeeze Vitality Snack. AT ALL. I don’t think she’s ever done Sudoku, but hopefully she’ll give it a shot and like it!

I think this is a great idea! Love it. May have to do this. I have a mother in law in another state I was thinking about and an elderly Aunt.
