Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box Review

Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box

Even though I already have a ton of Julep polish, and Julep sends out off-season colors in their mystery boxes - I seem to never be able to resist buying a mystery box!  (There were three different options you could pick for this box and I picked Mystery Box #1).

FYI - the mystery box is no longer available, but the Free Julep Summer Beauty Box for new subscribers offer is still working!

Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box Review Items

The Box: Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box (No longer available).

The Cost: $24.99 (free shipping if you are a Julep Maven subscriber)

The Products: $100+ worth of nail polish and beauty items.

Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box Review Nail Polish

Julep Nail Color in Millie - Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Kristen - Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Ciara - Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Petra - Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Cleopatra (Black Latex finish) - Value $14

Sadly none of these are summer colors for me (maybe the Millie shade?), but I really do like all of them, so I have no problem saving them for fall.

Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box Review Seeds

Julep Konjac Sponge - Value $12

Julep Forget-Me-Not-Seeds - Value $1?

I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the sponge already has some moisture/water in it - I'm not sure if that's normal?

Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box Review Cuticle

Julep Hand and Cuticle Stick - Value $22

This cuticle stick is paraben and sulfate free, and I've used it before and liked it, so this item is a win for me!

Julep Golden Ticket Mystery Box Review Birthstone

Julep Birthstone Nail Polish in Coretta (Diamond for the month of April) - Value $14

This is the nail polish I picked out with the PERK2FOR1 coupon code - I don't have a logical explanation for it, but I just needed to have one of the polishes with the gold cap!

Verdict: I paid $25 for this box and received about $105 worth of items (not counting my bonus nail polish). In my experience Julep mystery boxes are usually a great value, but the items are often repeats from previous months. It's a very cost-effective way for someone just starting to build out their Julep collection, but if you have been subscribed to Julep Maven for a while though you may get duplicates!

I'm happy with the value of the box, but I was kind of expecting something special/golden with this box considering it's the Golden Ticket Mystery Box! (I would have loved to see an exclusive nail polish made just for this box).

What did you get in your mystery box?

I’m a sucker for nail polishes and ordered all three boxes. I already have a ton of Julep polishes so I was afraid of getting a lot of colors I already own. Thankfully I only received three I already had. Out of all the other colors I only didn’t care for one.

I probably won’t be buying any mystery boxes for a long time, but these were all decent boxes for me.

This looks even more disappointing than the “ice cream shop” mystery box last month. I say more disappointing because that mystery box only cost $15. It had 2 bland, not ice creamy pastel colors (basically it was a taupe and nude set) along with the same seeds (which are a complete waste for me here in the desert), and…nothing! Just 2 polishes and seeds. Talk about a letdown. I’m swearing off their mystery boxes for the time being, before I start hating a company I dearly love and often defend. The bigger they get the worse it seems. Sigh.

I am with Melissa – this box was a serious disappointment. I got box #3 and the $14.99 add on. My box had:
-forget-me-not seeds (which I actually thought were a cute addition)
-Halo gloss set with a red shimmer lip gloss and a sheer gloss
And the polishes:
-Nic (deep brown, almost black)
-Stevie (dark, shimmery grey)
-Glam Roc (brown glitter)
-Shoshanna (gold glitter)
-Scarlett (shimmery red)
The only one I would ever use is the Scarlett polish. The rest are way too dark and glittery for me and even if I liked them they are so not summer polishes. The glosses are cute and I love the little package they came in but I’m not much of a gloss person and would have preferred the sponge mentioned in the other box.

My add on “box” was just a few items tossed in the package I received and looked like an after thought. No cute packaging or anything. I received:
-more seeds (how many does one person really need?)
-a nail file (yawn!)
-a mini size of the polymer top coat
-Valerie polish (dark green with gold flecks)
-Gayle polish (purple)
It was a little less of a disappointment because I really like the Gayle polish and LOVE the polymer top coat.

I love Julep’s polishes and the current colors but this box was a major letdown. I highly doubt I will by any mystery boxes in the future.

I chose the Summer Mystery Box #2 and received:

Nail Polishes: Michelle (Dark Blue), Estelle (Black Glitter), Carol (Light Pink), Candace (Metallic Bronze), and Celia (Metallic Teal).

1- Full Size Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover

1- Full Size Ta Da! Quick Dry Drops

1- Pack of Forget-Me-Not Seeds

Review: What a HUGE disappointment!! This was my first box purchase from Julep and might be my last. There was not a single nail polish color I liked- I prefer more classic and traditional colors. These were too “edgy” for me. The two full size items also really didn’t work for me either as I don’t do at-home manicures. Needless to say, it is all for sale on eBay. The color I chose using the free code was Maren- which is a bright corally pink- and I definitely love this color!! I will be back to buy individual polishes, but not sure about becoming a Maven or buying another Mystery Box.

Really surprised you didn’t like Carol…

I only paint color on my toenails, and Carol looked very sheer. If I painted my nails, I would have kept it.

I just received box #3 which contained all the dreary coloured polish and lip gloss. I’m swapping everything except the gloss on a certain subscription box swap site. : )

I got box 3 too, I have to say 5 polishes and 2 lip glosses is not $100 value to me.
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
Especially after all the past mystery boxes I’ve seen

I love the Konjac Sponge! (ps 100% ok that’s its damp when you first get it as long as it doesnt smell) i’ve used them for years b/c they’re so eco friendly and when you’re done w/ it rinse it really well, cut it into small pieces, and compost it. It won’t it in a landfill for the next thousand years.

Wow! Now I know what could have been in the box, I just got lip gloss and seeds. The nail polishes are to dark for Spring and Summer. I do like the coretta though. The cuticle butter seems interesting. If anyone has tried it let me know …. so for I’ve not been that fond of Juleps non nail color items. I got the konac spong yet have not tried it yet. —- This was second julep mystery box, first one was just okay, this one they forgot to send additional items ( The value was $37 ). I’m gonna ( try ) to skip the Julep mystery boxes for a while. The spring box was dreary and so is this one, I wana feel happy when I open the box, yet when I see dreary colors and dreary gray wrapping paper, I feel bla, as the first impression. Yuzen is my favorite still when it comes to packaging, and just seeing the bright seasonal colors and seasonal specific items when opening the box, makes me feel happier when opening it.

I got a sponge in a previous box and it was also damp. It didn’t have any type of off smell though so I assumed it was supposed to be like that. When it is truly dry, it is hard as a rock so I’m guessing that would have turned people off? Not sure why they need to keep it moist.

Hi Liz,
It is normal for the Konjac to have some moisture on it already, so don’t worry 🙂
