Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May

Blush Mystery Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box from Blush.com. I’ve been very impressed with this subscription in general because of the value (usually over $100), the brands (typically at least a few high-end  lines), and the size of the items (everything is usually full sized or deluxe sized).

The Subscription Box: Blush Mystery Beauty Box

The Cost: $24.95 a month (or $34.95 for a one time purchase)

The Products: Over $100 of beauty products.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May 2014 Curator

Each box has a new featured curator and featured product – this month is Ronda Wilkin.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May 2014 Info

The flip side of the card details the rest of the items included for that month.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May 2014 Peter Thomas Roth

Peter Thomas Roth Oilless Oil - .34 oz Value $12.60

This oil gets mixed reviews from Sephora, but it seems like the issue is that the oil doesn't absorb very quickly, so it's probably best only for night time application.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May 2014 Mask

Bioxidea Miracle 24 Hand Mask Pack - Value $18.60

I was about to complain about getting another Bioxidea Miracle face mask - but these are hand masks! (AKA gloves). I'm excited to give them a try!

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May 2014 Purlisse

Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 in Medium - 5 ml Value $5.50

Purlisse Pur Moist Hydra Balance Moisturizer - FULL SIZE! Value $55

This Purlisse moisturizer is a win, even though I think I have quite a few of them due to subscriptions! (The Miracle Skin Transformer is a win for me too since I love the product and can use a shade darker in the summer, but I'm always disappointed to see when a subscription box sends a skin tone specific item but doesn't offer customization).

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Subscription Review - May 2014 Blush

Laura Geller Cool Lids Cream Shadow in Silver Sands - .17 0z Value $10

Glo Minerals Blush Duo in Bare/Hibiscus - FULL SIZE! Value $27.50

Yay for full sized makeup! (This eye shadow cream is over half the size as the full size version, so that's good enough for me!)

Verdict: I paid $25 for this box and received about $130 worth of beauty products. I'm very happy with the value this month, the amount of full size/deluxe size items, and the mix of makeup and skincare products. Overall this box is a success for me! What do you think of the May Blush Mystery Beauty Box?

My skin transformer was expired, and I e-mailed Blush about it. I received the replacement today, and it was a full-size Skin Transformer. I thought that was awesome that they not only replaced the expired product, but upgraded it to the full-size. I’m excited to try it out!

Hey everyone! My replacement Miracle Skin Transformer just arrived! Blush made good on the issue and actually send me a FULL SIZE which is $48!! Now I feel bad that I cancelled. I am not crazy about the June box so I think I will resub starting July.

Yay – so happy to hear great subscription box customer service stories! 🙂

Before I ordered my box subscription with them ( June is my first box ) , I called them a few times and asked questions, and everyone was very nice and helpful, I also ordered from their parent company the dermstore before and the product was well wrapped shipping was in a timely manner. So far everything is a win – win with them.

Just got an email from them with code: SAVE20 a 1 time purchase is $27.96 or a monthly subscription is $19.96 ( 1 month only – then it goes back to regular price ) using the code. ( 20% savings ) code expires: May 26 – I know if you order in May you get the May box.

I just tried the code and it said: “20% off any purchase. Some exclusions apply”. I tried to click on the bit about exclusions, but no other information popped up! Bummer I was really hoping to try this box! C’est la vie!

I have an email from them with that code and with the box discounts with the code within the email. I tried the code yesterday, it worked. I tried it just now again and it did not work. Yet it is only for the May beauty box. Maybe it’s sold out. Not sure. — One thing I’ve noticed about some of these codes, is that they seem to expire quickly, or sometimes the code only works for a few hours because there was an error with the code.

Shelley

I emailed customer service about the expired Miracle Skin Transformer and was told that they’ll be replacing it with something. They said the product is currently sold out, but they’ll get back to me with what the replacement will be shortly.

I just called Blush about my Miracle Skin Transformer also expiring on 3/14. They said that they have already contacted the manufacturer and are waiting for them to re-stock the product. Once they do they will be shipping out a replacement. He said it should only be about another week or so. I have been pleased with the customer service in the past so I am fairly confident that they will make good on this. 🙂

My box came today and thankfully everything was there and nothing was expired. I am excited to try everything but the stand out product for me that i can not wait to use tonight is the hand mask. My hands are always so dry and cracked. They really need some love.
I was surprised that the blush was so small, I thought that it would be almost 2 times its size. My samples were just 2 foil things that i gave to my daughter to use, as they were the same as last month.

I am extremely disappointed in this month. The item I was most looking forward to trying is expired! I sent them an email about the expired Miracle Skin Transformer and to let them know how disappointed I was. I will wait to see how they respond to the issue before I cancel. Customer service us a huge deal for me so if they have a positive response and correct the issue then I’ll stick around to see if next month is better.

My skin transformer expired 03/14. Wonder what customer service will say when I contact them. I love this subscription but this box is so disappointing.

Overall, I like what came in the box, but I don’t think I got a full size blush which is the reason I re-subbed for this month. Mine is only a sample size unless this is the size that Glominerals considers full-size.

I was really disappointed to see that the Miracle Skin Transformer had expired in March! We pay for the samples so they should be usable for the next several months at least. Also, one of the foil packets expires 05/2014. So I won’t use that either. Last month was my first one and I loved it! But this one makes me question the company’s safety policies and procedures.

Yet another month that makes me sooo happy I cancelled. I don’t wear blush/eye shadow, so what a bummer this would have been! Not to mention I seem to rarely have 20 minutes to spend with a mask before bed…by the time I get there I am just too tired! *le sigh*

I was really impressed with this box when I first signed up, but the last three months have been underwhelming to me.

I have subscribed to the Blush beauty bag for well over a year. This is the least amount of product they’ve ever sent with the highest number of repeats in the bag. This bag included about half the number of items I normally receive; nowhere near worth the $27 I paid. I have canceled my subscription.

Hi Liz!
Someone posted on Makeup talk that their Skin Transformer was expired 🙁 Just wanted you give you a heads up to check the date on yours if you haven’t already 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Thanks for the heads up – I’ll make sure to check mine before I use it!

The writing on my tube was practically all worn off.

Wow, this is a small box for Blush! Especially for them to include so many “repeat” items. I’d complain about the Bioxidea mask, too, but mine got a lot of interest and went SO quickly in the swaps section!!

Sneaky Burrito

I haven’t tried the “hand” masks, but I used a Bioxidea face mask last weekend and thought it was quite good. Although I would never buy one because they go for $20 a pop, which is a bit steep for me.

Does the Blush Mystery Bag send the same things to every person or is it like some subs that send different things to different people? If I signed up, would I recieve this exact one?

Reply ButtonReply

Helen Whaley

The have variations in shades of cosmetics. Last month’s lip pencil duo came in 3 versions I believe.

I cancelled as soon as I discovered that the main attraction was the powder blush, which I don’t use. I’m happy not to receive yet another Miracle Skin Transformer and Pūr-lisse!
The boxes certainly don’t seem as bountiful of late.

This is why I plan to scale way back on beauty subs. I find the all the product repeats annoying. I want to sample new products, not get the same stuff!

Sneaky Burrito

This happened to me with food subs. I swear, I’ve had the same Beanfield’s chips in at least 3 boxes. (They’re good, but I’d like some variety.)

I’ve got a stash of Purlisse, too, and I’ve only been getting boxes for six months or so. But I am spending much less money at Target on beauty and skincare items (maybe that makes up for the $$$ I spend on subs?).

Funny how i like everything but the featured product

Did you receive a bonus item? Weird that they didn’t include one this month (the last few months I’ve received some fairly nice ‘extras’). Looks like a nice mix of products, although I’m swimming in Pur-lisse moisturizers. It makes me wonder if anyone actually buys that brand, or if they just supply subscription boxes . . .

There were two foil packets in the box but I didn’t think they were even worth including in the review! (I hate foil packet samples!)
