The Tyler Florence Fancy Box is a monthly subscription box curated by Tyler Florence and the Fancy Team. If you’re looking for a mix of cooking tools and new ingredients to try, I definitely recommend this box.

(We’ve been subscribers to the Tyler Florence Fancy box since the first month, but this month Fancy offered to send me this box at no cost for review purposes).

Tyler Florence Fancy Box Review - Jan 2014 Garlic

Garlic Fresh Pod - Retail Value $11

I didn't know this product existed, but I love it! It's already on my kitchen counter keeping garlic fresh!

Tyler Florence Fancy Box Review - Jan 2014 Pizza

GripEZ Pizza Wheel - Retail Value $10

Meat Baller - Retail Value $11

I can't believe I didn't know this meat baller tool existed! (I absolutely hate touching raw meat, so I don't think I've made meatballs in over a year). I think I'll be spaghetti and meatballs very soon!

Tyler Florence Fancy Box Review - Jan 2014 Strainer

Wooden Spaghetti Spoon - Retail Value $8

3 Qt Stainless Steel Colander -Retail Value $25

I already have a colander, but this one is nicer than my IKEA one, and it will be good to have a spare.

Tyler Florence Fancy Box Review - Jan 2014 Salt

Acacia Salt Cellar - Retail Value $16

I love the design of this salt cellar! I don't think we'll use it for salt, but I'm thinking it will look good in the bathroom for storing cotton rounds.

Verdict: This was a great Tyler Florence Fancy Box for me. I got some great products that were new to me, and some kitchen upgrades. The only thing I didn't need is another pizza cutter, so that's going in the swap/gift pile. I do love when Tyler includes some food items from his line, so I'm hoping he gets back to that in future boxes.

What did you think of the January Tyler Florence Box?

As I understand there are two versions of the Tyler Florence box… the regular US version which often(always?) features food items and an International Version in which there are no food items and instead extra non-food items. I was told this by as I sent a query to the Fancy CS team..I’m a UK subscriber and so didn’t want to have missing items each month! (Food can’t be shipped overseas)

I wonder if they sent out the international box to US customers this time due to shortages with the food items? I’ve been unable to find another ‘International’ reviewer of this box so i’m not sure how it will differ in practice….

I’ve only just signed up so haven’t received a box yet, I will definitely check back to compare my March box with what you receive!

I got the box with the pasta and two sauces. I haven’t used them yet. I much rather get the gadgets.

February’s box arrived today. I love the lemon zester.

For the people who subscribe to this, is there any survey to fill out for personalization purposes? Because it sounds like there are several different variations on boxes floating around.

The reason I ask is, I love kitchen gadgets (not like I need any more, but that’s beside the point) but I went back through Liz’s past reviews for this box today and there are some things like pork rubs that I would have absolutely no use for (I’m a vegetarian).

There is no way to personalize the box that I know of.

I would guess the reason there were variations for January was because the box was very delayed due to damaged items, so guessing whatever was intended for the box just didn’t have enough to go around. But I haven’t been subscribing for long enough to notice if contents vary.

It wouldn’t hurt to ask try asking their CS though!

Thanks for your answer. I don’t mind if there’s something in, say, Ipsy that I won’t use because I only paid $10 for it, or back when I still got Bestowed and got chicken broth, I just gave it away. But if I paid $40+ for a box and shipping, I would be bummed if there were multiple meat-oriented items.

Maybe I should just take the $40 and buy a couple of kitchen gadgets per month on Amazon or at TJ Maxx HomeGoods or something!

I got a completely different box. I got a citrus sestet/peeler, a spoon/spatula, maple syrup, a French press, two little cook books one on eggs and the other butter.

Laura, the box you are describing is the February box. I got the same things! Love the breakfasty theme. This box is the long-delayed Jan box. 🙂

That’s the Feb box. I got the same stuff except my books are strawberries and eggs. I however did not get this Jan box. I got the one with the pasta and sauces, I would rather have had this box, the garlic thing is cool.

I was much happier to have the pasta sauce & noodles in my box! I use an all purpose scoop to make meatballs and I won’t use wooden cooking utensils!

What a nice box! I have a strange obsession with kitchen gadgets… Plus I tend to cook a lot of dishes at one time so it helps me to have multiples of certain things.
I might have to consider this box… Oh, and I have one of those garlic keepers! I found it at tj Maxx for like $3. Thought it was fun and useful:)

I didn’t get that TF box, unfortunately, but I’ve seen a couple of reviews for it and there are several items in your box that weren’t in the other boxes – the garlic pod, the meat baller, and the spaghetti spoon.

The other ones had 2 jars of pasta sauce and one box of pasta I believe, which I don’t see in yours.

Much as I’m sure the pasta sauce was yummy, I think I would have rather had the garlic pod and meat baller, just cause I didn’t know such things even existed. 🙂

I’m sorry I missed this one, likewise the pizza cutter would have been the only thing that didn’t instantly get thrown in the kitchen.

Matt

I was reading a review elsewhere of this box and theirs was slightly different, omitting the pasta spoon and the meatball we and instead they got 2 jars of Tyler Florence sauce.
