Swap Site Updates & Wait List Reminder

Subscription Box SwapsFirst – if you haven’t signed up for the wait list yet and you want to – make sure to get on the wait list ASAP – we’re opening up the next round today!

Next, we’re working on all of the feedback we’ve received for site improvements and new features. (We had some issues with the site in IE and Windows, so we had to prioritize that work first, but hopefully now the swap site looks good for everyone and we can get back to new features!)

If you have more feedback on how to make the swap site better, you can post it in our feedback forum, and you can also view other swappers ideas and vote for them!

  1. I have a question how often do toy guys open the waiting list for swapping products ?

  2. Hi
Just curious how long you are normally on the waitlist? I saw this post from March but was just wondering when you might be opening up another round 🙂 So excited to start swapping!!

    • We will be opening the next round within a week!

  3. Liz, how do we go about contacting someone about an issue on the swap site? a user left me a negative rating by accident back on the 7th, she immediately sent me an email apologizing and said that she had contacted you about fixing it. I also emailed through the ‘help’ feature on the 9th. I then made a post on the Forum just a few days ago. none of these attempts have gotten any response whatsoever. I would really like the feedback rating to be fixed as I know people will avoid swapping with me because I have a negative feedback. How do I make this happen?

    • Hi Annie,

Sorry, I’m a little behind in emails – I’ll look into this today.

  4. Thank you for creating this! Although I’m starting to see an influx of people posting non box items. .which I thought was prohibited?

  5. Hi Liz. Would you consider adding Influenster to your list of swappable subscription boxes (although I know it’s not, strictly speaking, a sub service)? Thanks!

  6. First, I want to say thank you for creating the site, as it’s been massively helpful. Like someone mentioned above, some sort of FAQ or policy outline would be great for a future expansion. I’m seeing more and more listings for items I’m pretty sure didn’t come from a subscription box, like this listing for a popular YA book:

Book Riot never included that in its boxes! I also doubt that Stitch Fix includes Forever 21 products in its shipments, although I’m not subscribed to that box so I can’t be certain:

There are other general swapping sites out there, and I like that this one has such a specific focus, and would like to keep all of these random extras out of the system!

    • I totally agree with this! I noticed that book and wondered if we were allowed to just post anything. If so, that’s a whole different ball game.

      • The swap site was built for subscription box items only, and unfortunately that hasn’t been clear to everyone. We’re going to post an FAQ page to the swap site very soon so it is 100% clear that listings are for subscription box items only, and then also build in a flagging feature so that if you’re browsing and find an item that you know is not from a box, you can flag it for us to check.

      • Love this idea. I’ve seen too many items that are random and not from sub boxes.

    • I agree. All of a sudden I see Peter Pilotto in “Target Beauty Box” which isn’t true.

  7. Liz, Will you send an email when I am no longer on the waitlist? Thank you, D

    • Yep – we’ll be sending an email out. Make sure to add [email protected] to your email contact list to make sure it doesn’t go to spam!

  8. Liz, is there one source that has a detailed breakdown of how to use the swap site? I’ve seen a few posts with some details here and there, but I can’t find all the details in one place like a FAQs. I’m a member, but I’m hesitant to get started since I don’t really understand the shipping guidelines etc..

    • We’re going to be putting up an FAQ page hopefully later today. If you have any questions you want to make sure I answer in the FAQ page – please let me know!

      • Thanks! Yes, please clarify our account info page. For example where can I see all my items up for swaps listed on one page? I don’t see that in my account section.

What should we do when the item is not from a box on your list? (Like the Australian Her fitness box.)

Also, please put in guidelines for shipping. Either specifically who we should use to ship, or helpful links to discounted shipping options. Also, expectations for how long the member actually has to ship the option once the swap is approved. Also, what is the recourse if the swapped item is never received?

Thanks. This is all new or me and sounds great, but I’m getting caught up on the fear of shipping cost and details. (I’m not a huge fan of going to the post office, things always seem to cost more to ship than I expect them to.)

    • This is the page I use for shipping my swaps. You have to have a Paypal account (and you have to sign in before it will take you to the page) I’ve noticed I spend a lot less on shipping than some of the people I’m swapping with…

      • Loren, which page? I didn’t see a link. Clarification on the whole shipping thing would really help me out. It’s the only thing that stops me from swapping. Seems like it could get pricey.

      • Loren, thanks so much for that link. I was trying to go through Paypal, but it was requiring a cash transaction before it would let me ship! So I ended up making a trip to the post office and spending $4.08 to ship a nail polish! And all I’m getting in return is a deck of cards! I thought “maybe this swapping thing isn’t for me :(”

Does shipping it that way give you a tracking number option? That’s required for shipping through swaps right? Because that cost me an extra $1 at the P.O.

Sorry for all of the questions. I really want to participate in this amazing swap group, but the shipping costs seem outrageous and not worth it unless swapping high value items.

  9. I love the site and have done many swaps myself. It’s so much fun to just look for stuff I want and will actually use. Thank you so much for coming up with the idea! One thing I would suggest is coming up with some sort of notifications tab, informing us of new messages or swap requests that just shows up on the main screen. Also, there should be a chat option to start off a swap to see if another person is even interested in swapping, instead of just starting the swap outright, if that makes sense. Like I said, this is absolutely awesome what you have done here and thanks so much!

  10. Liz – Just want to reiterate how awesome you are for doing this! I’ve done a massive amount of swap and am still getting through all the items I’ve hoarded through my subscription box addiction. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

    • Thank you so much Lina! 🙂
