New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Review

New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full size beauty samples, a Beauty To-Go bonus sample pack, and you also get a subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general the value is usually incredible. (FYI – this is a different subscription from the QVC New Beauty Test Tube which ships every quarter).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Tarte

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Forever Flushed – FULL SIZE! Value $25

YBF Perfect Prep Face Primer – .5 oz Value $10

I absolutely love Tarte products, so I was thrilled to discover this blush in the New Beauty Test Tube! (Their makeup is formulated without parabens, phthalates, etc. and it works great too). Subscribers will either get this shade or Naturally Sunkissed – a bronzer.

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Simple

Bioxidea Miracle 48 Mask in Gold – Value $25

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes – 7 wipes Value $1.50

These Bioxidea Miracle Masks seem to be in every subscription box lately! I guess it’s time to finally try one!

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Hope in A Jar

Professional Solutions Triple Action Vitamin C Antioxidant – FULL SIZE! Value $40

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In Lite – 2 oz Value $9

Philosophy Hope in A Jar – .4 oz Value $8

This Professional Solutions serum is new to me, but I’m excited to try it, and I love that the sent a full size version! (One of my biggest pet peeves with skincare samples in subscription boxes is when companies send out tiny samples that won’t last you long enough to see if the product works for you!)

Verdict: I am so happy with the March New Beauty Test Tube! Based on the last two boxes I was worried this box was turning into a drugstore brand box, but the brands included this month are exactly what I want from New Beauty Test Tube! And the value this month was amazing as well – $150 worth of products in the tube, and I lucked out and got another $100 worth of samples in the Beauty To-Go bag! Definitely worth the $39 I paid – plus I love the magazine that comes with this subscription.

What did you think of the New Beauty Test Tube this month? And which Beauty To-Go samples did you get in your box?

  1. I just cancelled my subscription. I’m not going to deal with a company that says one thing in an email and than says another thing when you call them. I also won’t deal with a company that does not replace broken items which is what happened here. I was promised by email a replacement. Now I read that if you call them they say they don’t replace broken items. Which is it Test Tube? Also disappointed that my test tube was not what was pictured above. Not even close.

    • I thought I was the only one dealing with this problem. I used to love this test tube and was so excited to open but now its boring and not what it used to be. I think we are getting next to nothing before we would get lot’s of stuff full size things and now its junk. Also, I did not receive my full size lotion value $40 on the last tube and I called and talked to a “live” person she was very friendly and said I should receive in about 3 to 4 weeks, well guess what? Nothing ever came. I am not renewing my subscription. I have now been getting “POP Sugar Must Have” and love it.

  2. My tube was similar, except I got the Tarte oil roller, which was totally shattered and had leaked all over the contents of the tube. (I’m pretty sure the heavy nail polish bottle in the tube collided with it during transit – the oil was in a little piece of bubble wrap but the polish was loose.) New Beauty’s customer support leaves something to be desired, they were somewhat rude and a replacement item still hasn’t arrived.

These tubes used to be awesome, not sure if they’re worth the money (and hassle) anymore.

    • Do you have any recommendations on the best way to contact them about this? My oil arrived totally shattered also. The glass didn’t stay contained in the bubble wrap, so all of my items were covered in oil and shards of glass. Needless to say, that was not a very fun unboxing! It also said that I should have a mascara in there, but there wasn’t one. I e-mailed them about this and I still haven’t heard anything back.

      • I called them, thinking it would be better to speak to someone in person. The woman I spoke with made it very clear they would not replace any of the other items, even if they were covered in oil (the oil had soaked all the way under the cap of the nail polish bottle, which they refused to replace.) They did agree to replace the mascara, but only after I made a big production about feeling unsafe using contaminated eye makeup. It’s been almost 3 weeks and the replacements haven’t arrived, I’m starting to think they just blew me off. The level of customer service is seriously lacking considering the price of this subscription. I’m canceling as soon as I get this resolved.

That really sucks about the broken glass, I guess I was lucky mine stayed in the bubble wrap. I would call them (especially if they haven’t responded to email) I hope you get better service than I did.

        • I agree with less. I emailed them shortly after receiving the shattered Tarte oil. They emailed back that they would send a replacement which so far I have not received. I will give them this week and if I don’t receive it I will cancel this subscription. I’m not going to waste my time calling them if that’s the response you get. This is not the way to run a business and I will make it known that this is why I am canceling. I can easily live with them.

    • Well after waiting over a month for the Tarte pure maracuja oil replacement it did finally arrive. So if customer service told you they would not replace broken items they are wrong. I emailed shortly after I received the March test tube about this and they said they would send a replacement. I had given up on them and canceled my subscription but I’m happy to say that although it took over a month they did send a replacement as they said they would. I will see what the April test tube looks like and than I am sign up again. Although what one person gets is not always what another will get. I found that out with the March test tube.

  3. This is the 1st Test Tube I’ve signed up for and so far haven’t received it. I signed up on March 5th. This past weekend I contacted New Beauty and they located my tracking. My New Beauty Test Tube was shipped out on 3/12 and is still in the hands of FedEx as of this afternoon on 3/18. They are using FedEx SmartPost. It’s been 12 hours since it departed Chicago to either go to another FedEx sort center or hopefully the Post Office in my town that’s less than 2 hours from Chicago. The tracking doesn’t even say where it’s headed.

For the $10 shipping fee, they could have sent it straight through the Post Office. We should not have to pay shipping and due to this experience, I don’t think I’ll keep this subscription.

  4. I just received mine today but I had different samples in the to go bag except for the Rodial foil which had leaked all over the other contents. Mine included a Philosophy love sweet love shower gel bottle (1oz.) a phytomist instant hydrating conditioner (50ml) and a NeoStrata Skin Active Cellular restoration sample (.5 oz tube). My blush arrived with a broken mirror too. I reached out to them but last time I got a damaged item they offered me a $5 credit rather than replacing it so we’ll see. I just resubbed so I don’t know if I will keep it or not.

  5. Use the coupon on the mask, and you can get another mask free–just pay shipping and handling!

  6. I am also a little disappointed with my box which is different than your review. It is the same as some of the reviewers here (like the one Judy posted); I got the one with the Tarte oil. While I found the box okay in general but I am disappointed in the beauty-to-go samples, I got one Boost it complexion enhancer, 2 Nip+Fab serum packets and one jar of “beat- up” looking lipgloss. The worst part is that it took 3 weeks to get to my house. If they charge almost $9 for shipping, I expect better service than Fedex Smartpost!

  7. I just got my March beauty test tube. A few of the things were the same but many were not and I am disappointed. Not only were they not the same but one of them the “tarte pure maracuja oil rollerball came brken in pieces. So people should be aware that you may not get what others get. I received the following –
    It’s a 10 miracle leave in lite
    Glamglow youthmud tinglexfoliate treatment
    Lumene night cream
    It cosmetics powder brush
    Mally liquid lipstick
    Orly nail lacquer
    Bioxidea miracle 48 diamond
    Grandelash -MD Grande mascara
Tarte pure maracuja oil rollerball (broken in pieces)
plus bonus small samples of Boost it complexion enhancer,Perricone MD hi potency eye lift and nip + fab no needle fix serum

While I always look forward to this tube of goodies I am disappointed in the selection and may not continue. I will see what they say about the broken Tarte.

    • I noticed the same thing!! I signed up specifically to get the tube shown above because I was told everyone receives the same tube, just different bonus items. Im going to be really bummed if I get the tube your received. No offense of course, I was just under the assumption I would get the one I had seen. I really wanted that Tarte Blush and the Vitamin E.

    • I got the same tube as Judy. Except different bonus samples and all 4 very tiny: single use Sothys mask, Rodial facial oil, Memorie Liquide perfume sample and 0.017 oz Perlace primer

    • I got the same as Judy as well—–almost completely different than Liz’s, and my to-go bag was completely different from both of yours. I’m a little disappointed as well, at least at the value factor. Lots of items I’d like to try in mine though, so maybe I’ll try another month?

    • Any luck getting a replacement on the broken Tarte oil? Mine was smashed to bits as well, still haven’t received a replacement.

      • They sent me an email saying they would send a replacement but I’m still waiting. Will let you know when I get it. Let me know if you get yours.

  8. Can I get an invite as well! This box looks amazing, I love everything in it. I might drop ipsy and sub to this instead.

  9. Hello! Could you please send me an invite? Thank you!! 🙂

  10. Would love to get an invite for this tube.
I have been wanting to try it and I have been wanting to try the GlamGlow!!

  11. You can find a lot of what’s in these boxes on eBay for pretty cheap so if you get something you love then check out eBay for another for usually under $5!

  12. need an invite!

  13. Could you please send me a referral as well? I must have! Ipsy, BB, and Julep just aren’t enough boxes! ; )

  14. This looks great, could I get an invite? Thanks!

  16. could I please get a referral …I belong to blush and ipsy but would like to try this box!

  17. Hi ladies! This is by far one of my favorite subs. Unfortunaly due to their lack of organization, their double billing, and poor customer service I have to cancel. FYI I refered my sister in July, just got my free tube in feb. and that was a huge huge hassle!

  18. let me jump on this band wagon- Can I have a referral too!?

  19. Can you send me a referral? I’d love to try this subscription box!

  22. I enjoyed TT when they first came out back in the early 2000’s. I lost the feeling for them and the products that they started sending me back in 2011ish. Whenever it was that birchbox came on the scene. But, this box is amazing and I resigned up yesterday. Liz, did you get the magazine yet? Or have they stopped sending that out with the tubes???

    • I just got my first magazine from them a few weeks ago. (At that point I had given up on ever getting the magazine!) So it will show up eventually 🙂

      • Thankyou, for all you do!!!:)

  23. Liz, please send me an email as well! Thankb

  30. Sarah Jo…..I signed up on January 31st and Mid-February they sent me the January box (even though I called them and they said I wouldn’t get my first box until March…but no biggie I wanted January). Not sure if this was a mistake, but they may send you March’s box still. Hope that helps.

  31. Although, I’m afraid my sample pack won’t be the same. I know all tubes are but I want that hydroxatone! If u want to trade let me know lol

  32. Oh my!!! I so hope I get that color of blush in mine! That is exactly what I use every day! How awesome is that and the rest of the items are great too. Can wait to get! Like you I was afraid they were going to have drug store stuff and cancelled and something in the back of my mind said reorder and I did and now I am glad I did, can’t wait to get my tube!!!!! Thanks Liz for the positive review today, needed that!!

  33. Wow! Between the Tarte and the hydroxatone I rly want this! Oh and the glam glow!

  34. Can I Still get the March Box?

    • I’m not sure when their cut off date is. I recommend reaching out to them to make sure before you order. Their customer care email is: [email protected]

    • I emailed them and they said you can order the march tube until the first week in April! 🙂

      • I called them and they told me the box wasn’t still available. I wonder which one is accurate?

        • Hmm that is interesting… I received the email today. Now I’m hesitant to order

  35. do you have any coupon codes for this box?

    • I think they may send you a coupon offer if I refer you, so I just sent you an email. Let me know if you get a discount!

      • Liz, can you refer me as well? I have been looking for a new box to replace my SS box for awhile. This looks perfect!
