Julep Maven Review & Free Box Promo Code - April 2014 Box

Julep Maven is a monthly nail polish and beauty subscription box. They make all their own products, so subscribers get a good value each month – over $40 retail worth of product for only $19.99 a month.

Each month Julep releases a new collection on the 20th, and you can decide which box you want, you can upgrade to the entire collection, or you can skip that month. (They recently changed their skip policy – If you’re a new subscriber, you earn a skip every 6 months).

This month I decided to go with the Classic with a Twist Box!

Julep Nail Color in Mariska - Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Caitlin - Value $14

This month was all about bold colors, and I ended up picking the Classic with A Twist box because I thought both of these colors would be perfect summer pedi colors! I also didn't realize that the hot pink color has a nice shimmer to it!

Julep Glow Pore-Minimizing Blush in Peach Bellini - Value $24

This was the item that you could pick out which blush or bronzer shade you wanted. I'm happy with the choice I made - this color works well with my skintone. I found the color to be pretty highly pigmented, and I'm happy with it, but I didn't notice any pore-minimizing effects. (I wasn't really looking for a pore minimizing blush though since I rely on Miracle Skin Transformer!)

Julep Maven Review & Free Box Promo Code - April 2014 Brushes

Every month you can "Add-On" items to your box, and this month I decided to try out these powder brushes.  (So far I've been very impressed with Julep's brush collection).

And every month Julep includes a little bonus like candy or something better like hair ties. Hopefully next month won't be candy!

Verdict: I got to pick out my Julep selections, so I had a feeling I'd love this box, but it is always a bit more exciting once I have the items in my hands! The blush color is great too, so I'm happy with the whole box!

Which Julep Maven box did you pick this month?

My kids loved the candy and asked for more 🙂 I switched from boho glam to the same this month, LOVE the pink but the orange was a bit disappointing, the matte finish wasn’t too nice, although with a top coat it was cute. Overall 5/10 for that orange but all of my other julep boxes have been 10/10!!

I went Julep crazy this month too. I’m a product junky anyway, the last thing I needed was more stuff. But…well, you know, I needed this stuff, right? I got the IT girl box and then I ordered the brushes, and 22 bottles of extra polish and the lip repair set. I’m waiting for the blushes and bronzers to be available for regular purchase, then I’ll order those too.

I love their gift boxes too. I always check the box for gifts and buy the boxes. I have some of all 3 sizes now, large, medium and the small boxes. They are all nice quality boxes with magnetic closures and I use them for storage.

I wish I had have gotten this box but I have already bought so much nail polish from Julep. I got the free box and in it included a coupon for 50% off my next purchase. I obliged and now I have LOTS of nail colors. Still, I AM jealous! 🙂

I was having a bit of spring fever and those bright colors made me upgrade to the entire collection. I’m really happy with all of the polish shades except for the yellow metallic shade (just doesn’t look right on me). I also added on Felicia and I love it, I may do my nails in that tonight. Right now I have one color on each finger, lol. The brushes have a nice hefty feel to them, very high end like. I think both the peach blush and bronzer will look great on me, I am going to try those tomorrow with the brushes. Love that Julep has been stepping up their game!

Those brushes look really high-quality — I’m regretting skipping the month now! How are they working for you?

Does anyone know what type of candy they sent? I really liked it. It has a unique flavor…kind of a little spice.

I thought about those colours since I got Jelly Shoes combo last month, but ended up getting the lime green pair I think. I also got the Felicia add on because it looked so fun. I’m excited for the blush. The second I got the email I ordered so I could get the peach because I felt like everyone was going for it lol. I have a bronzer currently and lots of rosé blushes so I wanted the peach.

What colors were in the Jelly shoes combo?

I usually get the Bombshell, but this month I switched to Classic with a Twist for that gorgeous hibiscus. BUT I added Tatum, the Neon chartreuse chrome as an add-on because I don’t have ANYTHING like that at all. Can’t wait! (We get these boxes much later in Canada, I probably won’t get this until late next week.)

I got the same box as you did (except the brushes.) I think the colors are too bright for me. I wish I would have waited and ordered my surprise box from the secret store so I could use that code.

I didn’t know until today that if you don’t take that month’s box, you can’t even access the secret store. Figures since this is the only month I’ve skipped in a year! I think the code only applies to new Mavens buying the welcome box. I don’t see any codes for current Mavens.

The secret store really isn’t that great this month. Some repeats and a lot of full size/mini combos.

I cancelled this month bc I didn’t want another blush. I have so many that I like. I would’ve skipped this month if I could have, but I joined in December, like the day after they changed the skip policy! Anyways, I do love their nail polish and I may join again after taking a few months off.

I’m a little nervous that I got the bright blush – the peach one would have been the safe bet, figured I have some many blushes wouldn’t hurt to try something new!

I got the same blush and I love it! The packaging is great and a little blush goes a long way. I think it lasts longer than my Tarte blushes do 🙂 Definitely a keeper for me!
