Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Rockstar

The Social Bliss Style Box is a new fashion and accessory subscription box. They guarantee a value of at least $100 in each box, so of course I had to sign up as soon as I heard about it!

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 First Look

They are a brand new subscription (this is their first box), so I'm hoping they work out some kinks in their site soon. (I never got a shipping confirmation email, and I wish the account section on their site gave you more information about each monthly box, not just that you have a current subscription).

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Rockstar Items

The Subscription Box: The Style Box by Social Bliss

The Cost: $39.95 a month plus $7.95 shipping

The Products: $100 to $200 worth of products. Each box will contain an assortment of popular one size fits all fashion accessories and lifestyle products.

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Card

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included. This month's theme is Rock Star!

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Fedora

The Hatter Company Fedora - Value $22

I don't think I can pull off the look of this fedora - it may have to go to a much more fashionable friend!

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Studded Clutch

Leather Studded Clutch - Value $55

When I first saw this clutch I assumed it would be made with faux leather given the cost of the box, but according to the card it's made of leather. (I can't find a brand or and labels in the clutch, but Social Bliss provides all values on the card included).

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Clutch Open

This clutch also comes with a detachable wristlet strap. It seems to be very well made, and even though the spikes were a little intimidating to me at first, this clutch is growing on me!

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 NYX Makeup

NYX Cosmetics Smokey Palette - Value $12

Even though I have way too much NYX makeup from subscription boxes - this palette is too cute! Plus I think the colors are perfect for the Rock Star theme.

Social Bliss Style Box Review - January 2014 Necklace

Shield and Honor Strela Silver Necklace - Value $60

This necklace is designed from a spent .308 caliber bullet and encrusted with various sized Swarovski crystals with a silver plated lobster clasp at the top. I thought the crystals looked a little randomly placed on my necklace, but I checked the site and the look is intentional.

The story behind the brand is very touching too - and the proceeds of sales support families of fallen war heros!

Verdict: I paid about $48 for this box and received about $150 worth of products - the value in the first box is impressive! I think they did a great job curating a Rock Star themed box, but some of the pieces just don't fit my personal style. If I could make any change in this box, I would love if they did a few style themes each month, and let you pick one. (That way you still get the surprise, but are more likely to use and keep all the items!)

I'm still impressed with this box though, and I can't wait to see what the February theme will be!

What do you think of the first Social Bliss Style Box?

Has anyone received their Feb box yet? I emailed them to ask what’s up and got a “be patient, we’re running late” response. They said they would ship last week. And still nothing. I suspect folks won’t be getting their boxes until March. Not a great first impression. If you’re going to be delayed shipping, then let your customers know; don’t make them have to ask you. Ahem, Glossybox. And keep us informed if the delay gets extended. I really hate having to send multiple emails to get what I paid for. Frustrating and very unprofessional.

I also emailed them and they said I should receive it by the end of the month. However, they also said I would receive a shipping notice with tracking info when it shipped and I haven’t received that yet. I’m really frustrated because I am moving on the 1st and really afraid this box is going to get lost in the mail/never make it to me. And they said it was too late to change my address even though it hadn’t shipped. :-/ *fingers crossed*

Wow, this is the best fashion box Ive seen. Love that its fashion forward and not boring. Bummed I missed this box, especially the bullet necklace and clutch. I checked the designer’s website and they are all sold out. =( I messaged them to bring the box back.

I just got mine today and I definitely was not a fan. Sure, the value is great, but I think for their first box they should have stuck with more classic style rather than branching out with fedora hats, bullet necklaces and spiked clutches. I will be returning this one. 🙁

Definitely not my style. The clutch was the only thing I would even consider, because I don’t need another makeup palette. So instead, I am going to test out how their guarantee policy works and return this box.

I REALLY wish I hadn’t ordered…I can’t use anything and I can’t even pawn it off on my daughter.

I absolutely love the clutch but was disappointed in the color. I got the blue one and since I wear so much black I was hoping for one of the other options. I would be willing to trade if someone prefers the blue!

Jessica- I received the maroon/red one and would LOVE to trade for the blue one! Email me: [email protected]

What a fabulous suggestion to have several themes for subscribers to choose from and still be surprised. I hope some box does that–I would definitely be up for it!

Thought the fedora was silly, and didn’t love the clutch – very young and past trendy, but was quite touched by the necklace. If the rest of the box was quality I would have ordered, but since it’s not I went to the necklace site. Everything is out of stock and there doesn’t appear to be any way to backorder or be put on a wait list. Sad.

I was so glad I did not get this month’s box since this look is just not for me, but I liked their bold choices, so I decided to risk it for the next one anyway. That’s what it’s all about for me. I agree they need some work on the site. I got the three month subscription, and my confirmation email did not confirm this or the price I paid anywhere; it only said my box would come in February. My account online also has nothing to indicate the three months. That makes me uncomfortable.

Correction** I was mistaken about the lack of indication of what I ordered. That is the FabFitFun box that does not show anywhere that I ordered a year. The SocialBliss site does show my subscription as three months. This may be a warning sign that I am also suffering a subscription box addiction – except I know I can stop any time I want to cause it says I can cancel at anytime, so there. I just don’t want to.

I might use the clutch now and then and NYX cosmetics are pretty cool. The Fedora and the bedazzled bullet necklace though… yikes. Not really my thing. I think I’ll pass on the next box.

I’m always super skeptical when it comes to hats, especially Fedoras, but this one looks really good on. Surprised me. I was pretty happy with this box

This box and the Nina Garcia box would be better if they told you the style theme ahead of time so you had the chance to opt out if the style didn’t fit you.

Katie

I felt the same way as you did about the box. This is just not my style. I do not know if I should cancel or wait to see if their next box is more my style. ahhh. I don’t know what to do.

This looks like a neat box, but yeah, not my style either. I’m sure it will vary depending on the theme though!

Wow, nice box. I wouldn’t be able to pull off the hat either, but the other stuff make up for it. Love that clutch!

Brianna

I wish they had an option to pay a few months ahead 🙁

Cassie

They do.
