FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Review

The FabFitFun VIP Box is a quarterly subscription from Giuliana Rancic and the FabFitFun team. Each season they send you a box of $100+ worth items in categories like beauty, fashion and fitness.

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Unboxing

FabFitFun kindly sent me this box to review.

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 First Look

The key necklace on the front of this card is their featured item of the box, and the spoiler item they teased a month ago!

The Cost: $49.99 a box sent every quarter

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing all the items included.

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Key Necklace

The Giving Keys Never Ending Necklace - Value $55

I wasn't too excited about this necklace when I saw the spoiler, but seeing it in person I like it more.

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Close Up

Each necklace is unique and has a word engraved on one side. From The Giving Keys: "Wear this key and embrace its message until you meet someone who needs the message on the key more than you."

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Headphones

TruEnergy Inspired Earbuds - Value $40

Simple Foaming Facial Cleanser - Value $7.49

I always enjoy my fitness and healthy subscription boxes as a fun reminder to workout and be healthy, so I like that FabFitFun always includes fitness items like these earbuds designed for activity. (Also, the card lists this cleanser as a bonus item - some of the team's favorite drugstore finds).

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Me Undies Gift Card

Me Undies $20 Gift Card - Value $20

I'm always super skeptical when I see "gift cards" in subscription boxes . (Often they turn out to be coupon codes, and require you to spend money). Fortunately this card doesn't require you to spend any money, but it is a unique coupon code and not technically a gift card.

I just tested it out and made a purchase. I bought two pair of socks for $10 each, and applied the code in the coupon code field in the cart. It deducted $20 making the socks free, and shipping was free. I was charged $0 for the order, but I did still have to enter my credit card info.

I like the quality of Me Undies products (check out my Me Undies reviews), so I'm very happy with this addition to the box!

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 MYX Makeup

NYX Eye Shadow Palette in Love in Florence - Value $8

Beauty For Real Lip Gloss in Don't Stop - Value $22

I swear NYX is in almost every subscription box lately! (This was another bonus item - the other drugstore favorite from the FabFitFun Team).

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Makeup

And the lipgloss lights up and has a mirror attached! (I don't know when I'l need to apply lipgloss in the dark,  but it's interesting!)

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Workout Bracelet

Lorna Jane Workout Bracelet - Value $30

This rubber bracelet is a little too intense for me, and I definitely don't like wearing any accessories when I'm working out, so I'll be putting this in the gift pile. (Or maybe the future swap section!)

This workout brand is completely new to me, and I really like the design of their clothes. (It reminds me a little of Victoria's Secret Pink Workout line). They included a 20% off coupon for FabFitFun subscribers, so I may try it out!

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Skincare

Bioxidea Miracle 24 Mask - Value $19

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream -  Value $45

I cannot wait to try this eye cream - it's free of parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrance and synthetic dye!

FabFitFun VIP Box Review - Winter 2013 Free Workouts

Physique 57 Workout Classes (5) - Value $25

I don't know why, but playing workout videos on my laptop always seems weird. It looks like these videos should work on my tablet too, so I think I'll try that!

Verdict: This box has a value of over $250 - not bad! I think right now I'm most excited about the Skyn eye cream, but who knows - maybe Physique 57 workouts will become a new favorite!

What do you think of the Winter FabFitFun VIP box?

Lorna Jane ROCKS, I prefer it over Lulu Lemon, but they are comparable.

The Icelandic Eye Relief cream is awesome, but can be kind of intense. I made the mistake a couple days ago of putting it on post-moisturizer and I literally burned the skin from under my eyes off. It’s still crusting off like 3 days later. But it feels really smooth underneath that so…whatever.

*Disclaimer calling myself “Anonymous” because of something I mention below regarding Paulette’s story (for my own protection).

Poor you, Liz (or maybe you don’t mind the earphone colours–I love yellow and orange but didn’t want that for my earphones because I was so enticed by the spoiler colours). I am NOW SO ELATED that I received the blue ones!! I assumed everyone would receive those!! YAY!! I probably would have been happy with the others (my phone case is yellow leather that I had specifically made and well those would have worked nicely–although I haven’t been using the case anyway).

I love the inspirational necklace story, Paulette… (I’ll be thinking of you and sending positive vibes!!!) I had my own BAD time but it ended up being a “blessing in disguise” (I am out of a field that is sinking fast and had enough STRENGTH–that’s what my necklace says–to sue said employer for discrimination–and now I’m 42 and retired (for more than just that, but still)!! I had a card a lovely friend who was also a colleague (who, younger than me, recently died from cancer, but at this bad time of mine she wrote me the most uplifting and inspiring card and that was my “necklace” before–I’d pull it out during depositions when I needed strength to deal with the scum I was suing). Also glad mine is silver toned!! (sorry, Kathy, but maybe it’s a sign that there is someone out there who wears gold or could just plain use the inspiration more than you now?).

I’m guessing the NYX palettes are different? Mine is brown (09 Belinni Kiss). I was bummed at first but the thought, hey, wait this would be great for travel because that long dark-brown could be used for my eyebrows when traveling. I have SO MANY brown palettes so maybe I may even randomly make someone’s day by gifiting this. Oh look at the adorable bow where you open the case!! Liz you got some unique colours!!

Liz, you ROCK doing the hard work for us. I was not pleased with “me undies” stock in the past but I didn’t think socks AND knowing I won’t have to pay a dime even for shipping makes me JAZZED!! Thank you for sharing that with us!! I also agree with the bracelet. I mean you don’t NEED to wear it when working out but it is “intense!!” I’m sure I know someone younger who would love it!!

Thanks all for sharing your comments!! I guess I’m in a thankful mood today…. Paulette you’ve made me thankful and full of inspiration (this time yesterday I was the complete opposite!!) Liz, this site gives so much more than feedback/information about subscription boxes 🙂 I bet you hear thoughts of appreciation all the time, but I think it’s time you hear how helpful and MAGNIFICENT you are!!

I forgot I was replying to this and fell asleep while typing and it hit enter.

I have no idea what I was trying to say.

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I like to use a DMI cable and plug my computer into my TV. Then I can see the workout video through the whole workout (and it doesn’t feel weird)!

That is what I do also!

This is my favorite box ever only because of the necklace. I didn’t really know about the story of it from the spoiler, just thought it was a necklace with a key. I got my box an hour before I went to surgery for melanoma skin cancer. I wore the necklace and have been telling everyone about it. Mine is silver which is my preferred. It says “courage”. Courage or strength would be my 2 choices. I have had so much happen within the last month, life is a complete challenge.

I meant to cancel this box after I was laid off last month and had no money. It slipped through the cracks and I am so happy it did. I need this necklace right now but will be so happy to pass it on to someone else in the future.

Lots of luck with your recovery Paulette.

As for the box, I really liked the key and have heard of this keep necklace before. I also like the earbuds and the extra drug store items.

Paulette

Thank you very much!

Oh and thank you for the info on Me Undies. I would have likely let it slip through and not use it since I can’t afford to spend any extra. I’m going to use mine right now.

I feel bad, I have a stack of cards from the boxes that I know are in high demand and they all expire in a few days. I could have shared the codes with MUT.

Julie

Thanks for your story very inspiring! 🙂

Awww, thank you! You have no idea all that has happened in the last month. It all landed me down into the dark dungeons of rock bottom. I somehow pulled myself up one morning and set out onto a self-loving date that lasted 12 hours and got home at 2am. LOL. Since then, while circumstances haven’t changed, my spirit and attitude have. I feel so genuinely happy, blessed and loved – I am not sure when I have felt like this. Since the shift within me, even more love is flowing in and out.

Kathy

So much happier with this box than the last one. Would not include the workout classes in the value, but even without that it’s a winner for me. And PS, my necklace looks exactly like yours except gold-tone (I would have preferred silver).

Lorna Jane is an Australian brand of work out clothing that is CRAZY over priced! I bought a couple things when I went to visit because I had vacation brain and the quality is decent, I just wouldn’t go for anything with mesh on it. I bought a pair of capris with mesh stripes and within a week the mesh was pulling apart and the rough pads of my dogs feet gave it a beating. Which was sad because it all looks great and is very flattering. Anyway just my 2 cents! 🙂

Good to know – thanks for the info on the brand. I didn’t look at their prices too much, but maybe for now I’ll just stick with Ellie and Fabletics. It’s not like I’m in need of new workout clothes! 🙂
