BarkBox Review & Coupon - December 2013 Review

BarkBox is the original subscription box for dogs - and it's one of our favorite boxes to get each month. BarkBox customizes each box to your dog's size, so for reference in this review, all items are for our 15-pound Cairn terrier poodle mix Buckles - the "small and cute" size according to BarkBox!

BarkBox Review & Coupon - December 2013 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included for that month.

BarkBox Review & Coupon - December 2013 Stuffed Animals

Go Dog Yeti - Value $7

Simply Fido Organic Rope Toy - Value $8

Of course our dog preferred the Yeti toy over the organic dog toy!

BarkBox Review & Coupon - December 2013 Chew

Planet Dog Eats Chicken & Pumpkin Pot Pie Treats - Value $4

Barkworthies Chew - Value $3

This Barkworthies Chew was the hit of the box this month. Our dog couldn't wait for me to take the pictures so he could have it!

BarkBox Review & Coupon - December 2013 Treats

Bistro Bites Training Treats - Value $6

These treats were a little too natural and healthy for our dog (he rejects pretty much all treats that aren't at least 90% meat!)

Verdict: As always, this was a fun BarkBox! I was hoping they would have some holiday themed items since it is the December box, but I guess I got my holiday fix with Happy Dog Box this month - so I can't complain!

We paid $19 for this box (6-month subscription), and received $28 worth of items. I'm happy with the value (though usually BarkBoxes tend to have a higher value). What did you think of the December BarkBox?

Received my First Bark box for December, I have 4 small dogs and they loved all the treats that came in the box! Well worth the money.

Ok I for my December bark box (this is the first month I signed up for it) and I was really disappointed! I got the medium sized box and it barely had anything in it! No squeaky toys, no stuffed animals, almost nothing! Considering giving them another month to impress me for Jan but if Jan box is a bust I am for sure canceling my subscription. 🙁

I would contact them. I thought every box should at least have a toy. But would definitely let them know about it.

I am not 100% sure but I think I started bark box before I found Liz’s blog and somehow I ended up getting $19 a month. I can’t remember. I have the mid size dog package. December is the only month I went on the internet and checked prices and except for something that was bought in bulk and was hard to figure out the cost, I found everything. Not including that item, which we are guessing was $1-5, the value we received was $35.27. A good deal for us. Lucy (our black lab) received one very well made toy duck put together with rope and cloth, and food items that I’ve never seen or heard of (like one is some kind of lamb treats). Also there was some type of big peanut butter bone treat that was organic.

I loved the box this month! I’m really impressed with the quality of their products, and love that they include natural/organic products. The toys were a big hit and surprising my dog loved the PB & Applesauce treats. Usually she does not like hard treats, but she devoured these and sniffed around for more! My dog has a liver issue so she is on a very specific diet but I’m happy that most of their treats are ok for her. The ones that aren’t, we are donating to our local animal shelter, along with some toys as well. 🙂

I’m so glad your dog liked the treats. And what a great idea for donating treats you won’t use to your local animal shelter. I think we’ll start doing the same thing. I think our dog only likes about 20% of treats he gets in boxes!

I thought this box was holiday themed- there’s a reindeer, a yeti, and pumpkin treats!

We love our BarkBox! We have a puppy (Westie) and the small box is perfect for her. We have the December box wrapped for Christmas so it was great to get a sneak peek! (I think the reindeer is their holiday item!!!) Our Westie will enjoy the monster better also, I’m sure. 🙂

Thank you so much for your reviews!!!

The treats are always a hit, but I have an 83-pound yellow lab and the toys just don’t work for her. They last one, maybe two chewing sessions and then she’s back to the super-duper Nylabones and Kongs. Even those don’t last long. I am gifting some to our smaller dog friends, but I really want this to be all about my dog. May re-try in a few months.

I think you can have them flag your account for durable items only, no stuffed animals. This month my dogs (medium size) got a big bone thing made out of the same material Kongs are. It had treat holes on each end and made a squeaky sound when you shook it. Really high quality toy. I wish I had saved the brand and name.

Thanks Jennifer. I will definitely look into that.
