I've been trying out lots of Quarterly boxes lately - some have been hits and others haven't been for me, but it's definitely been fun! I love how many different tastemakers they have curating boxes!
One of the latest Quarterly subscriptions is from Andrew Zimmern, and I had to sign up and give it a try! (Am I the only person who thought it was Andrew Zimmerman for the longest time?)
Ok - onto the box!
The Subscription Box: Andrew Zimmern for Quarterly
The Cost: $50 a box (ships every quarter)
The Products: Food and travel related items selected by Andrew Zimmern.
Ships to: US, (Canada extra $20 fee, International extra $30 fee).
Check out all of my Quarterly reviews!
Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator discussing the theme for the mailing, and details on each item they included. Andrew did something a little different, and encouraged subscribers to check out his unboxing video.
The Bizarre Truth (hardcover) - Value $24.95
And he signed it!
Olivar Santamaria Olive Oil - Value $15
Chiquilin Smoked Paprika - Value $5
The food items in this quarter's box are everything you need to make an amazing Paella. Unfortunately my box is missing Andrew's Paella recipe, so I'll have to wait until I get from Quarterly.
I love that everything is sourced from Spain!
UPDATE: Here is the link to the Paella recipe, and this box doesn't include EVERYTHING you need, just the key ingredients. (Can you tell I've never made Paella before?)
Jose Andres Galcian Style Mussels - Value $18
Santo Tomas Rice - Value $10
In his video Andrew said this is the absolute best rice for Paella, and from the reviews I glanced at on Amazon, it seems like everyone agrees. I need to get this Paella recipe!
Verdict: I paid $50 for this box and received nearly $75 worth of items. I'm thoroughly impressed with this box - it's exactly what I would expect from Andrew Zimmern! I love that all the food included is authentic and top-quality (plus all the brands are new to me which is always a win in subscription boxes!) And nothing is too bizarre for me to try!
What do you think of the first box from Andrew Zimmern?
