Hello Fresh Review & $25 Coupon Code

Since my husband and I first got to sample Hello Fresh last month, we've gotten absolutely hooked on fresh meal/recipe subscriptions. In this past month I don't think we've ever eaten healthier or better!

Hello Fresh was the first service like this we got to try, and I was thrilled when Hello Fresh offered to send me another 3 dinners to review!

Check out all of our reviews of Meal Delivery Services to see every meal kit subscription box option!

Hello Fresh comes in a cooler box - the sides are all covered with insulation, and there are icepacks inside keeping everything cold.

And I love that they separate all the produce into bags based on the meal. (The meat is in separate packaging at the bottom of the box).

The Box: Hello Fresh

The Cost: $69 a week for the Classic box – 3 meals for 2 people, $11.50 a meal. (They also offer a Vegetarian box for $59 a week – 3 meals for 2 people).

The Products: All the fresh ingredients and recipes needed to make 3 healthy and delicious meals.

I love that the recipe cards are very visual - I need the help!

This was probably my favorite meal in the box. The salad was incredibly fresh, and the warm plum slices and walnuts were wonderful!

Stir Fried Rice Noodles

This meal was delicious too - I normally don't cook with pork, but Hello Fresh pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way!

I swapped in rice for the stir fry last minute because I over cooked the noodles. (Totally my fault for following the noodle package instructions and not the Hello Fresh recipe instructions).

This was another fun recipe to try - I had never made any meal like this!

My photo of this meal didn't turn out, but I can tell you it was also delicious!

Verdict: Meal subscriptions are officially amazing in my book - they get me out of my cooking rut (or chipotle ordering rut) for dinner ideas, every meal I've had has been delicious and fresh, and no food goes to waste! Our experience with Hello Fresh has been great so far, and I can't wait to cook more Hello Fresh meals!

What do you think of Hello Fresh?

I’ve tried about 10 different deliveries and have loved their food. However there are a number of billing and other complaints on BBB. I just experienced a billing issue myself and after 4 calls and emails combined it is still unresolved. Be careful if subscribing.

I’ve been subscribing to Hello Fresh each week for the last month, and LOVE it!

What’s great:
– the recipes are all relatively quick and easy to cook
– quality of ingredients is fantastic – very fresh vegetables/herbs and high quality proteins
– food is well packaged with ice/frozen water bottles to keep the meat/fish fresh
– you get an email the week before your delivery as a reminder, and can choose to substitute some of the dishes if there’s anything not to your preference

Could be better:
– my partner and I travel a lot, so would be great if there were options for meals for one vs two when one of us is away from home

I’ve been so tempted to try this because I keep getting $40 off coupons in my magazine subscriptions but have used none of them. My issue is that we are a family of 8. I wish they had options to tack on more than just 4 because I would give it a try. I think I could get away with even 6 servings because 2 of my 6 kids are light eaters but no way I could stretch 4 for all of us. I cook everyday and am very proficient in the kitchen but I still think it would be a fun & east way to change up our meal rotation and try new stuff. I tend to get into a rut and realize that I rotate the same meals over and over. So much so that the kids started calling Sunday, “Spaghetti Sunday”. Lol

I subbed to Hello Fresh in Oct. 14 and really like it. As a single gal, I can cook in the evening and know that I will have some great leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day. I like that you can skip weeks, I usually get one box per month. Use the code EY6D28, and receive $40 off your first box. You can cancel anytime, without having to call customer service. The cancel option is given in your account information. And I am a home cook and know how to cook, but I still enjoy the ease of these meals, especially knowing I have everything I need.

I made two of the three meals you made! I liked the chicken. I didnt care for the pork dish. As per your suggestion, I tried Hello Fresh. I like the idea. The problem for me, is that it is just me and my daughter. And she wont eat any of these meal 🙁 I think I may do it once a month. It is nice to know what you are eating that week. Takes a bit of stress out of the day! I would like to try the other services (Plated, Blue Apron).

This looks like an amazing service especially because I just taught myself to cook. (however, I only know 1 dish). But the price is high for me, even with the discount, i’d love to try it just for one week though and that’s it.

I really want to try this, but there are 3 of us… I’m not sure if we could get by with the 2 or need the 4?

The meals usually don’t yield much in the way of leftovers so unless someone is a VERY light eater I would go with the 4 plates.
