Each box comes with cards giving you more background on the food producers, in addition to some recipe ideas! (Taste Trunk has really great packaging and presentation - I definitely recommend it for a gift subscription!).

Taste Trunk Review - Gourmet Food Subscription Box - August 2013

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto Alla Siciliana - Value $4.50

Two Snooty Chefs Kansas City Steak Seasoning - Value $8

We received the artichoke bruschetta from the same company that makes this pesto in our last Gourmet Taste Trunk - and it was amazing! I'm sure this pesto will be equally delicious.

The Jam Stand Not Just Peachy, Sriracha Jam - Value $10

Iveta Scone Mix in Apricot - Value $7.50

Hm, I wonder if this jam would go well with these scones? I love that we're getting interesting spicy jams from Taste Trunk - but I'm not sure how to use them yet. I don't think this Sriracha Peach jam would work in a PB&J sandwich! Any suggestions?

CC Made Caramel Sauce - Value $12

The Girl & The Fig Lavender Sea Salt - Value $4

Verdict: This August Gourmet Taste Trunk had a great value - over $45! I love discovering the new brands and flavor combinations they send my way, so I will definitely keep subscribing! What do you think of Taste Trunk?

I am so excited to try this out!! I have been waiting to read all the reviews on the different kinds they offer but I figured I would enjoy the Gourmet the most… and this review proved me right! This box looks absolutely fabulous and I want to try everything! I am going to subscribe today and thanks for the excellent $8 off coupon! 🙂

I like spicy jams on top of crackers and cream cheese or on baked brie. Take some of those little puff pastry cups they sell in the freezer section and put a small piece of brie and top with the jam and bake until the cheese is melted. They make elegant appetizers that are very popular.

I’d get this box for the Girl and the Fig Lavender Sea Salt alone! 😉 The one time I was in Sonoma, I went to the Girl & the Fig Restaurant and loved it. I also love Lavender Sugar. (A restaurant here once made lavender cosmos with a lavender sugar rim.) So why wouldn’t I love the salt? 😉 I’m still considering this box! A bit spendy, but sounds worth it!

I just commented on your BBQ box review that I had hoped you would be reviewing the August box as well. After reading this one (I now know you aren’t a subscriber to BBQ) I am pretty impressed and will probably end up subscribing. Thanks for reviewing all of these boxes!
