Wantable Review – Makeup Subscription Box – July 2013

Wantable Review - Beauty Subscription Box - July 2013

I decided it was time to sign up for a Wantable makeup box subscription. If you aren't familiar with Wantable, they offer two different subscription options: one for beauty and makeup, and one for jewelry items. (I still haven't tried the jewelry box - if you recommend it let me know!)

While Wantable is on the pricier side of beauty subscription boxes ($36 a month), I decided to subscribe for two reasons: 1) Everything they send is full-sized or deluxe-sized; 2) You can really customize your subscription to let them know what items you want and what items you never want to see in your box. Since you're paying more for this subscription,  I like that they let you make sure you're getting items you want!

Wantable Review - Beauty Subscription Box - July 2013

The Box: Wantable Makeup Subscription

The Cost: $36 a month (one time only purchase available for $40)

The Products: Makeup products based on your profile settings.

Ships to: US, Canada (additional $5) and Australia (additional $9)

Frownies Eye Gels - Deluxe Sample- Value $10

Susan Posnick Color Eye Define Eyeliner / Eyeshadow - Value $26

I tried these Frownies Eye Gels before thanks to the December Birchbox, and I didn't notice much of a difference in my under-eye area. I'll probably pass these along to a friend. (FYI - these were a bonus item in the box not based on my beauty profile).

This eyeliner/eyeshadow pen is pretty slick. I love the Moonstone eyeshadow shade, and the application couldn't be easier. (I always seem to prefer eye shadow sticks over palettes). The built in eyeliner definitely makes this a good grab-and-go item for a travel bag too!

Brazen Organic Mineral Brow Powder in Brigette - Value $18

Three Custom Color Simply Beautiful Cheek Tint  - Value $22.50

I've received a few brazen cosmetic samples in other subscription boxes - and while I love that this brand is organic, the sample sizes are difficult to open without getting powder everywhere, so I was thrilled to see a full sized Brazen product in this box! When I was filling out my Wantable beauty profile, I realized I didn't have many brow products, so I requested to get some - and now I have brow powder!

Color Club Nail Polish in Antiquated - Value $8

Cailyn False Eye Lashes - Value $10

These two items are perfect for me. I think I've said this before, but Color Club has the best nail polish formula in my opinion! I also discovered Cailyn Cosmetics through subscription boxes and LOVE this brand. (Their makeup is all natural and mineral based.) I now have their eyeliner in 3 shades and I want to buy more! False eyelashes have always been something I've wanted to try - I love the effect and I have quite a few now ready to use thanks to subscription boxes. If I had a Beauty Bucket List - I think trying false eyelashes would be at the top of the list! If you recommend false eyelashes and have any application tips let me know!

Verdict: I paid $36 for this box and received $94 worth of product - I'm definitely impressed with the value of this box! I actually think I"ll go back to my beauty profile and customize it even more! (This month I only let them know I didn't want any lipstick). What did you get in your July Wantable Box? Have you been happy with the selections based on your profile?

Before I found Mysubscriptionaddiction.com I trolled the website for Wantable and filled out the customization form. Before committing to the monthly subscription I saved my preferences and left everything to gel for a while to see if I really wanted to join. I received an email the next day with a coupon code for 10% off my first box! After reading the reviews on many beauty box subs here I have decided this one is the one I will choose! Thanks for your review and comments. Off to use my coupon.

I think that coupon code is standard. I filled out the survey a couple of months ago but didn’t commit. I got the same e-mail you did. I still haven’t signed up because I get too many boxes right now. But I’m definitely going to remember the coupon code thing for the future, if I ever decide to try Wantable.

I’m jealous that Color Club works for you – EVERYONE wants to send it to me and it doesn’t last on my nails more than an hour. Makes me so sad 🙁

I like Wantable a lot, I wish I could afford to buy boxes more often!

I subscribe to the makeup and accessories box for Wantables. The makeup box did not disappoint but I really did not like the stuff that came in my first accessories box. Of the three items they sent, I only liked one and it was the least expensive item in the box. I am going to keep the other items to gift. I redid my cusomizations and am going to try the box for one more month to see if I get better stuff.

I fell in love with Susan Posnick! I’m so glad I sub to Wantable. This month I got a highlighter from Swagger Cosmetics that I wasn’t too sure how to use. I watche a few YT tutorials and now I really like it.

I bit the bullet and finally subscribed to this, too. They paid excellent attention to my profile, and I got an incredible amount of stuff. Other than the Frownies, my stuff was different than yours, but some of the same brands. My Three Custom Color product was a stunning lip gloss. My “loves” are eyeliner, mascara, and all lip products, so I got the gloss and a lip pencil that matches it perfectly, and a deep brown kohl eyeliner and a brown gel eyeliner. I also got some jet black waterproof mascara. Love love love!

I have waaaay too many subscriptions so the price for Wantable was hard to justify, but getting nothing but stuff I will really use makes it much easier. Now I’m going to have to figure out which others I will cut instead. This one is *absolutely* a keeper.

The worst part, though, is that even though I don’t wear much jewelry, I’m now eyeing Wantable’s other sub. I’m thinking that if they are able to get me such perfect picks for makeup, I’ll likely discover great looks with jewelry if I let them pick those for me too. Do you think that one is worth it?

I actually cancelled my subscription after my last box because it seemed like they sent me nothing but stuff on my do not like list. It was listed right there and I had a box of products I was never gonna use. And it is on the pricier side for that to happen.

I think I remember that they accept returns if you’re not happy, though. Did you email them or anything? The list included in my package showed my profile choices, so it was clear they followed them. Did yours have that, but the products were just wrong?
