Sample Society Review - July 2013 - Beauty Subscription Box

Sample Society is a beauty and makeup subscription box service from Beauty Bar done in association with Allure Magazine. Each month they send you 5 deluxe (and sometimes full sized) beauty samples.  Sample Society consistently sends out high-value boxes with high-quality samples - I definitely recommend this beauty subscription service!

Vincent Longo Trio Eyeshadow in Paradise Love - FULL SIZE Value $30

I love when Sample Society includes a full-sized makeup item in the box - this eyeshadow alone is worth double what I paid for the entire box! I don't have any eyeshadow shades in these colors, so this should come in handy when I am feeling a little more adventurous with makeup colors!

Ouidad Moisture Lock Define & Shine Curl Styling Gel-Cream - 2 oz Value $8

Tres Pure Face Tonic - 10 ml Value $5.50

I probably will never pay $65 for a face tonic - and I definitely wouldn't without knowing I love the product first. One of the things I  have come to appreciate about Sample Society is that they usually send out deluxe samples of very expensive skincare items - it's a great way to really try a product without investing a small fortune! I like the scent of this face tonic and the fact that it's only made from 3 wholesome ingredients, so if I find it to be life-changing I may spring for the $65 bottle - we'll see!

Supergoop! Advanced Anti Aging Eye Cream - 2 ml Value $6

Lollia Petite Shea Butter Hand cream in Wish - Value $7.50

I guess this is turning out to be the summer of Supergoop! in subscription boxes? It's a good thing I like the brand - and I'm even starting to get a little annoyed when I open up a box and see Supergoop! Fortunately, this Lollia brand is completely new to me - and I'm loving the scent and the packaging!

Verdict: I paid $15 for this box and received about $57 worth of product! Sample Society always seems to have boxes with amazing values, and the July box is no exception. Plus, I think this box had a perfect mix of makeup, skincare, haircare and body products! What do you think of the July Sample Society box?

That eyeshadow is so beautiful! I love Vincent Longo products … no doubt it was amazing to receive a full-size one in this month’s box. I have been on the fence over the Beauty Bar Sample Society for awhile now, not sure if I should add it to my list of monthly beauty boxes … But I think you have convinced me to at least try it out. I joined Julep because of your site, and it has easily become one of my favorites, so I think I’ll hop on the Sample Society wagon soon 🙂

This was my first Sample Society box and I wish I had gotten the eyeshadow and hand cream! Instead my box had mascara (in a squeeze tube) and a soapy smelling perfume :/ I LOVE eyeshadow, but mascara… not so much. And I am constantly trying out new lotions. Oh well. I am liking the face tonic, but I won’t pay $65 for the full size.

My box was way different than yours. I would have loved the eye shadow, Oiudad, and hand cream.

Am I the only one who HATES the black crinkly paper? The dust makes such a mess on all of the products.

Haha – I hate it too! I do my best to clean off the products from all the paper dust before taking pictures!

My box doesn’t look anything like this! I really wish it did!

I’ve wanted to try Ouidad products for a long time, so I wish I had remembered to subscribe in time! I could definitely use some hand cream too!

It looks pretty good. I canceled my subscription for now because I had to trim back expenses for the summer. I only kept my favorite subscriptions for July. I paused the ones that allow that option…sample society doesn’t. I would have been most excited about the hand cream-those eye shadow colors aren’t good for me. VIncent Longo is good though, I have a neutral eye pallet of his.
