Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box Review - June 2013

About a week ago Total Beauty Collection offered a mystery box for $20 with a $100 value. This was the first time I know of they had a mystery box and it sold out in one day! Hopefully they have another one soon! (While this box is no longer available, there are other collections still available for purchase. Use coupon code TBC20 to save 20% off any box!)

The Box: Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box

The Cost: $20 with free shipping

The Products: 13+ deluxe and full size products.

Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box Review - June 2013

Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm - FULL SIZE! Value $3.49

Alfaparf Milano Illuminating Serum - .25 oz Value $10

I love that Neutrogena Naturals is made without all the harmful chemicals I'm trying to avoid in beauty products, plus I can always use an extra lipbalm! I'm not crazy about the scent of this hair serum, so I think I'll stick with the Moroccan Oil from my FabFitFun box (I still have over half a bottle left!)

Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box Review - June 2013

Qtips Travel Pack - Value $2

Evolve UltraShine Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner - 2 oz each  Value $12 total

If this box had just been 13 bottles of Evolve shampoo and conditioner and nothing else I would have been happy - I love this line of organic hair care! Plus these travel Q-tip packs are great to have handy, so I'm thrilled with these items!

Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box Review - June 2013

Honest Face & Body Lotion - 1 oz Value $1.50

Honest Healing Balm - 1 oz Value $4.50

EBOOST Daily Health Booster - 7 Packets Value $5

Even though my house is full of Honest products, I can never have enough! I was very happy to see these in the mystery box.

Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box Review - June 2013

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask - .35 oz Value $4.25

NYX Color Lip Balm in Arigato - FULL SIZE! Value $3

NYX Roll on Shimmer in Platinum - FULL SIZE! Value $4

This mask is a best-seller at Sephora and gets amazing reviews - and it has actually been on my list of products to try. Apparently you have to leave it on for a while (at least 20 min) and peel it off - but the results are fantastic. And it's free of harmful chemicals like parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances!

Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box Review - June 2013

Ferro Cosmetics Blush in Terra Cotta and Suzie's Glow - Samples Value $6

Juara Candlenut Body Creme - 5 ml Value $.33

Verdict: From what I can tell these boxes were supposed to include a $50 Gift Card/Coupon to NakedWines. My box was missing the card - but NakedWines doesn't ship to my state so it really doesn't make much of a difference to me. I paid $18 for this box (I used a 10% off coupon) and received about $56 worth of product. I'm definitely happy with the quality of the products I received (I think I'll use everything except the hair serum and maybe the NYX products). My only issue with this box is that the $100 value they promised included a giftcard that not everyone can use (any other PA residents hate this like I do?) and you have to spend money to use the card.  I hope if they do another mystery box they don't include a giftcard/coupon in calculating the value. $18 for $50+ worth of products is still a great deal to me though, so I will definitely buy another Total Beauty Collection Mystery Box in the future!

I got the same box you received but mine included the $50 wine card. (my fourth unusable wine card) So disappointed!! I sent an email to see if they will resolve the situation. A wine card with no real value isn’t part of the beauty box they advertised – $100 worth of beauty samples. I feel misled.

I got my box Saturday & very disappointed! I feel like they mislead us! Wine is not a “beauty” sample. Can’t go into Target & pick up wine and energy packets in their “Beauty Section”! Some people don’t even drink wine & you can’t regift this cause this company is very misleading! You pay no matter what! This box looks thrown together & my Ferro powders came out of their little containers so they’ll be trashed. I emailed them so we shall see what they say. Would never buy another “mystery box” from them as much as I love surprises. I would want to SEE what I get & not feel mislead. Didn’t think was worth it!

Just got mine today – oh I am SO bummed about the wine giftcard! If they could have thrown in a Revlon lip butter or one of the Pacifica products in instead I would have been so much happier. I had high expectations for makeup in this box! I definitely feel the $100 value was a very misleading advertisement. At least my NYX stuff is pretty colors though!

Soooo glad I didn’t order this one! Every item in that box I already have, mainly from other Total Beauty boxes. The Ferro items are junk, very messy. They throw those Eboost packets in every box they have…seriously they must have a million of those. Got the Naked Wine card before and when I saw what a scam that was….

GRRRRRRR – I didn’t get the boscia mask. I got Goat’s Milk eye cream instead. And my NYX shimmer was BRIGHT BLUE.

I’m having the worst luck with subscription boxes these days. It seems like I’m always on the tail end of them after they run out of the good stuff – and then they just start throwing in whatever they have stashed around the office. Plus I’m starting to get the same companies in every box, but I guess that’s what I get for subscribing to almost every box there is.

I was pretty disappointed in this box. My stuff was thrown together too. I’m sure it’s just what happens during shipping, but when I saw it I honestly thought someone had rummaged through it at the post office and taped it back up. And I totally didn’t feel like it was worth $100. They should have just been upfront with people and called it a box full of random samples.

I also wish there were more cosmetics in it. I now have enough creams, balms and shampoo samples to lather up my whole town.

I’m done b*tching now. Thank you as always for your post! 🙂

Won’t lie, I am pretty upset that they counted half the value of the box as part of a giftcard, that is really not a giftcard at all. I have no ability to use this coupon, as I already used a similar coupon with them, and you have to be a NEW customer to use it. Considering that these are sent in almost every subscription box these days, I think that this is the first time I have seen it count as $50 towards the overall worth of the box. I would have been happy to buy this box at the actual real world value of $50. But their unfair marketing practices really makes me resent buying the box now.

I emailed them a couple hours ago. I feel as they were misleading with the description of the box contents. If I see another NakedWines “gift” card I’m going to scream! They are so misleading with the use of the card – you have to buy $100 worth of wine to use it and I’m not interested in them, whatsoever. I wish subscription companies would stop going in cahoots with them.

I emailed them too. However, the last email I sent them was never responded to. We will see if they actually bother responding this time or if I need to call them up.

The Naked Wines promo is really scammy, so don’t feel bad that you missed out on it. That card has been showing up in a lot of sample boxes lately(I got one in my Love With Food box this month). Some research has shown that logging your card code into the NW website automatically signs you up for their wine subscription service. If you try to opt out of subscribing and just use the $50 to order wine from them, the price of the wines skyrockets and you won’t find anything under $100 with shipping. Finally, the card is not much of a deal anyway, because their site automatically offers you a $40 credit whether you opt to subscribe or not.

You should email them! I heard some people got a refund because they sent an upset email. I never heard back from them but I would definitely try!

Got my box yesterday. Exact same contents. My Fero was a mess and the Alfaparf oil leaked all over. I love the scent of that oil and sorry more than half is gone. They really just threw everything in the box versus packing it nicely like the past boxes. I wrote them and hope to get a reply. Anyone else have that problem? I have so many Naked Wine cards I stopped counting. I just do not see any wines on there I am interested in buying. I think it was a good values nonetheless.

Boo! I haven’t gotten my box yet but knowing that it includes a wine gift card makes me grumpy. I have gotten three of them in the past few weeks (2 in my Conscious boxes, 1 in Love with Food) and they don’t ship to South Dakota. At least with the other boxes that I received the gift cards in don’t go with the idea that the card is meant to add to the value of the box!

I ordered this and it should be delivered tomorrow. i too am in PA. when i heard they were including wine cards as part of the total value, i emailed them and told them i thought it was misleading and they refunded 50% of my purchase price (I paid $16 because i used a 20% off code). their site said it was 13+ BEAUTY products and i felt sorta duped when i read a wine card was coming that i wouldn’t be able to use. it’s still a good value for the price, but as i said, i was lead to believe i was going to get a big old box of beauty goodies worth $100. 🙂

I almost got this, but decided not to when I noticed one of the other boxes had the naked wine gift card. I am in MA and we can not use any online retailers for wine or alcohol. I was worried this box would have one too, so I skipped it, sad I did because I would have loved the trial of the Boscia mask! 🙁

I wish I would’ve found out about this one on time. I might order some of the other boxes they have eventhough they are not as fun because they are not mystery boxes. Still good deals with the 20% off coupon.

Thanks for the code I used it on the face forward collection. I wished I had got the mystery box now.

I got the exact same box as you and I am pretty happy with it! I was hoping for Honest Co. items after I saw a review on YouTube. I’m so happy about the Honest Co. items and the 2 lip balms.
I would definitely purchase with them again. 🙂

I ordered this one too. I’m curious to see if they’ll all be different, since it seemed like this was a “throw what we have extra of laying around the office in boxes” sort of box. No complaints, I’m totally down for that theme. hahah!
