Birchbox Review - June 2013 - Monthly Beauty Subscriptions

The June Birchbox is the first month with their redesign – what do you think? I’m definitely a fan of the new boxes! Given that Birchbox was pretty much the original beauty and makeup subscription box service, I guess it was time for them to mix it up a bit!

Birchbox Review - June 2013 - Monthly Beauty Subscriptions

The Box: Birchbox

The Cost: $10 a month (free month with an annual subscription)

The Products: Beauty and lifestyle samples.

Color Club Mini Nail Polish in London Calling – Value $4

S.W. Basics Citrus Lip Balm – Value $4

So far, I am very pleased with the sample sizes in this box! I love Color Club nail polish (It’s one of my favorites for a long-lasting chip-free manicure). This pistachio mint-green shade will definitely be fun to try! I also love S. W. Basics products (they are made with very few ingredients, and everything is always organic or natural).

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser – .25 oz Value $2

Tweezer Man Itty Bitty Nail Files – Value $5

More products I love! I first discovered this Suki Cleanser in the April New Beauty Test Tube – and the fresh lemon scent alone is enough for me to love it, but it actually is a fantastic gentle exfoliator too! And I love the cute paw prints on these tiny purse-sized nail files.

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – 50 mL Value $6

This is pretty much the only product that is completely new to me – and I’m very excited to try it. The reviews I read on Birchbox said the Kholane spray is great for adding volume and texture. I hope it works!

This box also included these fun postcards inspired by the four Birchbox global offices.

Verdict: This was definitely the best Birchbox I’ve received in a while! No foil packets (yay!) and I will use everything in this box! I paid $10 for this box, and received over $20 worth of items I will definitely use. I couldn’t be happier! (Now I can’t wait to see what’s in my second Birchbox subscription. Hopefully it gets here Monday). What did you get in your June Birchbox?

  1. My first box came yesterday! I got the nail polish in Mod in Manhattan and the post cards. Everything else in the box was different than yours though. 1.5 fl oz Juicy La La Couture perfume, COOLA Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face .23 fl oz, Amika Obliphica Nourishing Hair Mask .67 fl oz, Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in black full size! and a twistband hair tie in pink with anchors. I am so happy I decided to start this subscription and I must thank you for getting me interested!

  2. Hi, can anyone tell me how you can tell which Birchbox you are getting for the month? Thank you!

  3. I got an awesome 3 piece sample for curly hair. It.worked great!

  4. I got the same box! I really like the dry shampoo and the facial exfoliator so far. Birchbox has been pretty on point lately.

  5. I got a small bottle of Davies shampoo, packets of the conditioner and oil treatment, suki cleanser, oscar de la renta perfume sample, and the mini polish in “mod in manhattan” which is cool because I don’t have a color like it, and the post cards. My box weight was .7060 pounds.

  6. LOL – it figures that right after I canceled my subscription, my last box turned out to be awesome. It was almost like they were rubbing it in.

My big item was the shampoo as well. I also got a deluxe sample of Mirenésse’s Glossy Kiss in Starlet, which is so cool because I just spent a fortune on the Mirenésse website and I love their Glossy Kiss line. I don’t have this shade, so yay!

My nail polish was Reign in Spain, which looks like bubblegum pink in my current bad lighting. It might be a slightly different shade. Regardless, it’s cute!

I also got two small foil sample packets of body cream by 100% Pure. In earlier days, I would have shrugged at these, but I have since learned that they’re a great way to toss some lotion in a purse or wallet without taking up any space!

As always, thanks for your great blog posts. I waited until I got my box to read this one to avoid any spoilers. 😉

  7. Ooohh I hope I receive the same box as you (I think we got the same ones last month)!! Those nail files are SO cute and I can never have enough files 🙂 Out of all the nail polish colors that is by far my favorite – let’s see if I can hold out on spoiling my box til it arrives (probably not, I always sneak a peek online on the 10th)

  8. This was a fantastic birchbox! I love the nail files and the polish is such a great brand and colour.
