Inside the December 2023/January 2024 Box

Love Goodly arrived on a sunny day, and the sunshine coming through my prismatic window cling cast the perfect rainbow glow on a box that had ridiculously good scents coming from it.

Info about each product is listed inside the folded card. Here you'll also find a little about which charity this month's box supports, plus a 15% a discount code for purchases made from their shop. Typically the month's products are available in the Love Goodly shop shop a little after the box launches, so if you need to re-up on a product you fell in love with, it'll be there waiting for you to buy with your 15% discount.

Chiky Botanica Wildcrafted Redwood Oil, 2 fl oz – Retail Value $4o

I was introduced to Chiky Botanica in a Love Goodly box this past summer and it's one of my favorite finds through this subscription. Do not sleep on exploring their website—the vibe is just absolutely the dreamiest out there, and honestly it's a pretty great representation of how it feels to hold their products in your hands, waft their scents, and experience their simple, sustainable, herbal blends.

I love this note about this particular oil on the Chiky Botanica website:

This unisex ritual oil is subtly scented, and can be used as a daily moisturizer for the entire body or reserved for more intentional moments of prayer and invocation.

Glorious. The ingredients are all either certified organic or ethically wildcrafted. The basalm fir scent is very forward, and it's something I could gladly cover myself in all year round—however this is a seasonal, limited-edition product. Lucky us!

This oil is clear and has a light texture, so it was tricky to capture a picture of it on my wrist before it ran down the side, but I wanted to show it as best I could anyway. All the photos I've seen of this bottle show a bump applicator, but mine just came with a twist lid. I'll have to very careful not to knock it over and lose some of this precious oil!

Chiky Botanica Serene Serum, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $68

A dream come true for sensitive skin, this facial oil is "a blend of therapeutic botanical oils combine to balance skin that is irritated, red, uneven in tone, blemish prone or tired." It's made with blue tansy, argan oil, rosehip oil, lavender, and more—and infused with lapis lazuli gem essence. It is meant to replace face cream, and depending on the weather and humidity on any given day or week, I might use it solo to hydrate my face. More often, though, I'll put a glob of a light face lotion in my hand and drip a few drops of oil in, give it a mix, and apply that way. I've been doing this with Chiky Botanica's Plant Alchemy oil blended in my palm with a couple drops of Earth Harbor face cream (another brand this sub often delivers!) on days when I want a lighter texture but just-as-deep hydration—now I have a small collection of Chiky Botanica oils to target my skin's needs with this technique!

Isn't the cool color incredible? The scent is bright and natural. In the third photo above, you can see it dropped into a bit of Earth Harbor Mermaid Milk.

NCLA Beauty So Rich Mermaid Tears Cuticle Oil, 0.5 fl oz – Retail Value $18

This isn't a type of product you see too often in a beauty box! It's a nail and cuticle oil meant to hydrate and deeply nourish your hands and cuticles. The main ingredients are safflower seed oil and Vitamin E, and this brand uses no mineral oil, they're cruelty-free, and they're vegan. The scent is "honeysuckle" and it's out of this world lovely!

With the rubberized dropper, you're meant to place a drip of the oil on each of your nail beds and gently massage it in, two times per day. As someone who paints my nails occasionally but leaves them natural most of the time, my initial thinking was that maybe that folks who stay on top of painted nails are likely to use an oil like this. But why can't natural wearers care for their nails, too? (They can!) Realistically, I'm not sure this new part of a care routine is a habit I'm likely to form. But I know multiple people who probably would, and I can't wait to treat one to this awesome oil.

Evio Beauty Pink Perspective Hydrogel Eye Therapy, 6 count – Retail Value $18

Regular readers of my reviews know I'm not a big sheet mask person, but I'd never tried under-eye gel masks so I was very curious about these. We in the Love Goodly gang know and love the Evio brand, and this month they're here to "help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, repair tired eyes, banish puffiness, and give you a more vibrant, refreshed, and renewed appearance" with hyaluronic acid and other collagen-boosting ingredients.

One of my complaints about classic sheet masks is that they always feel too large for my face. These eye masks had quite a lot of coverage, and I couldn't dare smile lest their edges curl up. Unfortunately for my efforts, I am a chronic smiler and couldn't make it to 15 minutes without grinning them off. But for the five-or-so minutes I wore them, they were pretty delightful! Very cooling, and not so deeply essenced that it felt very wet or sloppy on my face. I felt great about leaving the essence behind and letting it absorb in.

Nuria Beauty Defend Overnight Recovery Cream, 1.7 fl oz –  Retail Value $36

Finally, VIP subscribers were sent this repairing night cream. I love a jar cream! It's rich in minerals, and while you sleep, its brown algae and seaweed repair any damage your skin may have reaped from environmental aggressors.

The texture is so soft and smooth, and it feels amazing on the skin just before bed.

Verdict

The last Love Goodly box of the year was a winner. I'm over the moon that they included multiple Chiky Botanica oils, I think the nail oil was an original product to include, and I'm happy to have found under-eye masks that work for me. The VIP inclusion of the night cream is a welcome, wonderful product.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, sign up today to receive this box. The February/March 2024 box renews on January 28, 2023.

Note to Canadian Customers: "As of October 28, 2022: At this time, we have paused shipping our bi-monthly subscription boxes and prepaid box plans to Canada; however, you can still purchase the Single Essential or Single VIP Box to ship to Canada. Current active Canada customers are not affected."

Value Breakdown: The Love Goodly bi-monthly VIP box costs $48.95 + free US shipping. VIP subscribers received 5 items this month (counting the box of 6 eye masks as one). That breaks down to $9.79 per item. The total retail value inside the VIP box is $180. Non-VIP subscribers are promised a value of $70+, and I added everything from the regular subscription up to a total of $144. That's a phenomenal value, and higher than normal!
