First Impressions

This box is a takeover edition featuring the brand Doucce. You know, I think this might be my favorite edition yet. I love getting to try a large variety of products from a single brand.

The back of the Cocotique Makeup Lovers Box info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.

Now, on to the items!

DOUCCE Freematic Eyeshadow Quad in Subtle Elegance, 5.6 g - Retail Value $35

This Freematic Eyeshadow Quad in Subtle Elegance is really nice. I absolutely love the shimmer shades. Very pretty, and they work well for my skin tone. The two other shades are a bit light for me but still good neutrals. This palette is compact, making it perfect for travel, especially for those overnight trips when you don’t know if you’re going to need a full face of makeup but want to be prepared. My favorite thing about this is that you can actually swap out the shades since the little pans are connected magnetically. You can basically customize and make this palette your own. I like how smoothly these shadows apply to the skin, and they are definitely buildable with very little fallout.

DOUCCE Punk Volumizer Mascara in Black, 11.5 g - Retail Value $26

Mascara is always a staple for me, and this Punk Volumizer Mascara is awesome. I especially love the packaging; it’s nice and chunky, easily giving enough to hold onto. With a more secure grip, I feel like it offers more precision when applying as well. As for the brush, it’s big and fluffy, which is nice. It definitely holds a lot of product and does an excellent job of separating each lash, giving a much fuller look. I found it easy to build up the intensity, and it goes on smoothly without any clumps or smudging. This is exactly what I want to have on hand when I’m going for a dramatic look.

DOUCCE Bold Control Graphic Marker in Black, 2.5 g - Retail Value $23

Wow. I love this. This Bold Control Graphic Marker is basically a liquid eyeliner in the shape of a chunky marker, which is super innovative. What I like most about this is the sturdy base of the marker. Sometimes liquid liners are super thin and a bit hard to hold onto, but not this one… With this marker, I can apply a cat-eye or do a winged look with moderate ease, despite my normally shaky hands. It’s versatile as well because you can do a thin line or a wide line, depending on the amount of pressure you place on the tip. This will definitely help me keep my liner straighter when applying, which I truly appreciate. It also seems to be all-day wear and water-resistant. The formula is smooth and doesn’t pull or tug on the delicate skin of my eyelids. Highly recommend.

DOUCCE Smudge Resistant Eyeliner in Black, 1.3 g - Retail Value $23

Okay, now, this Smudge Resistant Eyeliner is really cool. I was a little bummed when I realized it was a pencil liner since the point can be a bit harsh on my lash line. But when I saw what was on the other end of the pencil… I was sold. On the opposite end of the pencil liner there is a smudger that’s perfect for helping you create that smokey eye look. I’m also happy to say that I found the pencil to apply smoothly, without any tugging or pulling of the delicate skin, and it is definitely a true black. Bonus points for all-day wear, which I truly appreciate.

DOUCCE Relentless Matte Lip Crayon in Winterberry, 2.8 g - Retail Value $24

This Relentless Matte Lip Crayon is another favorite of mine from this box. The shade ‘Winterberry’ is a traditional red, and it’s very pretty, but for me, it’s not an everyday color. I’ll be saving this one for my next night out. I found the texture to be incredibly creamy and smooth, and it applies to lips beautifully. Plus, it seems to be long-lasting and with little transfer, which impressed me. I also appreciate that this lip crayon came with a sharpener perfectly sized for this particular product. I actually really like this lip crayon because I find it easier to apply than a regular lipstick; it’s a more precise application for my unsteady hands.

DOUCCE Luscious Lip Gloss in Clear, 2.5 ml - Retail Value $20

I am thrilled to have this Luscious Lip Gloss. Definitely more my speed. The packaging is absolutely stunning with the pairing of a silver top and crystal-clear container. I love applying this clear gloss over my lipstick-free lips for a natural look. The shine it brings to my lips is lovely, and I like how it feels in terms of texture. It leaves my lips feeling smooth and ultra-hydrated without any kind of sticky feeling. I’m a huge fan of the doe foot applicator.

Verdict

This was an awesome Cocotique Makeup Lover’s Box! One of many highlights for me included the smudge resistant eyeliner, which allows me to create unique looks as well as the classic ‘smokey eye.’ The mascara works well to create much fuller-looking lashes, and the chunky packaging enables precision when applying. Lip gloss is a main staple for my everyday life, and I couldn’t be happier with the clear gloss; again, the packaging is stunning.

The chunky graphic marker eyeliner makes it easy to create a cat-eye or winged look, and the formula stays put all day long. I appreciate the inclusion of the lip crayon as opposed to a lip stick; the texture is super creamy and it seems to be long wear, which I appreciate. Lastly, the eyeshadow quad is another go-to, with four neutral shades (two shimmers, two mattes) that will work well with a variety of looks. Overall, I thought this was a great box. The products were varied and introduced me to some interesting selections, and the value is definitely there.
