First Impressions

What's Inside The Box

The box arrives with a booklet of information that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within. November's theme was "Social."

Bombay & Cedar Essential Oil Duo in Sweet Basil and Refresh, 10 ml each - Listed Value $31.00

The sweet basil essential oil… I mistakenly got a much deeper whiff than intended, and let me tell you, the scent is strong. This oil is said to improve digestion, relieve colds, treat itching, help with focus, and more… Did my one whiff of this sweet basil essential oil result in any of that? I don’t know since it doesn’t claim to provide instantaneous results. That being said, it’s probably not a bad idea to keep this one around the house if it indeed does even one thing that it says. The ‘Refresh’ essential oil is a blend created to open the sinuses and invigorate the mind. Interesting. Anything that helps open the sinuses is something I’d like to have around during this time of year, so I appreciate this particular inclusion. Both of these oils are fitting for the winter months.

BODIFRESH Toilet Tissue Moisturizer, 50 ml - Retail Value $7.95

I have used this product before, and I really like it. I’ve moved toward using products like this instead of flushable wipes to protect my plumbing and avoid waste. A pump or two of this gentle cleansing foam onto your toilet tissue makes all the difference. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin, completely flushable and sewage-friendly, and leaves you feeling fresh and clean. I like that this is all-natural and has no sickly sweet artificial scent. A bottle this size will last me about a month or two. I definitely plan to repurchase in the future.

MOZAICS Real Veggie Chips in Sea Salt, 21 g - Listed Value $1.29

These are like the super healthy version of potato chips. They have that satisfying crunch and saltiness that you want from a chip, without the dreaded calories and fat associated with classic potato chips. I found them to be very tasty, and I like that they are gluten-free. I would say they’re almost as good as real potato chips. I’m attempting to work on building healthier habits, specifically surrounding my food choices, so I’m happy to have found an alternative for when I’m craving a crunchy snack.

MODERN SPROUT Seed Ball Garden Kit in Pizza Garden - Retail Value $15.99

I’m really excited about this product. It’s incredibly different and unique from other things I’ve received in subscriptions. I like that it’s essentially foolproof so that anyone can plant themselves a pizza herb garden; even people with little to no gardening experience such as myself. The kit comes with everything you need to make up to 20 seed balls, which you can use to grow organic basil, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and oregano. I’m really interested to see if my seed balls grow. I have them positioned in the direct line of sunlight, and I’m attempting not to overwater them, so wish me luck. I like that they selected herbs like basil and oregano that I frequently use in my kitchen and not something more obscure that I might not use as often.

LARITZY Cream Lipstick in Wafer, 3.5 g - Retail Value $20.00

I really love the nude shade of this ‘Wafer’ cream lipstick. It has a slight mauve undertone that brings a pinkish hint to the shade. This product applies so smoothly and so creamy. The color is highly pigmented. It glides on easily, and the formula is buildable, with a satin finish. The lipstick is formulated with shea butter, and I found it very hydrating and comfortable for all-day wear. There was a bit of transfer when I was eating or drinking, but it stayed put pretty much all day long. I think this is a great neutral shade for everyday wear. It’s a solid shade to have in my bag to dress up an everyday look if I have to run to a meeting or want to jazz myself up a bit before running errands.

STACEY MOORE STUDIO Curious Bird Curiosity Cards - Retail Value $19.95

This is a really unique concept. My first thought was that these cards look like a new version of a classic vision board. Although I’ve never been into that sort of thing, plenty of people very much enjoy the process and the overall idea behind creating such. These curiosity cards are beautifully illustrated and contain writing prompts at the bottom of each (‘your superpower,’ etc.). After filling out all of the cards, you can fit them together to create one big visual. I will likely be passing this set along to one of my friends who will get the most enjoyment out of it, but this is definitely a fresh take on a journal/vision board, and I appreciate the innovation.

STELLAR FACTORY Peek and Push: Game of Memory and Coordination - Retail Value $14.95

A memory game, hooray. I’m always interested in finding ways to strengthen my brain, and this ‘Peek and Push’ game looks like it could be a good thing to put into action. This is a two-player game, which throws some friendly competition into the mix, along with memory and strategy. It’s basically an adult version of the classic ‘memory game’ most of us probably remember playing as kids. Each round takes between five and ten minutes to complete, and despite the simple idea, the gameplay can get quite intense. It was easy to learn, fun to play, and can even become a bit addictive. I definitely recommend this for anyone interested in brain games, puzzles, and similar activities.

FREY CLOTHING CARE Fragrance Booster for Laundry, 120 ml - Listed Value $10.00

I have very sensitive skin that reacts poorly to a lot of the typical fabric softeners and scent boosters. But I took a chance with this product because of how clean the formula is. Two to three pumps left my laundry smelling wildly fresh and clean. This particular fragrance booster has notes of cedarwood, oakmoss, and amber, all of which leave behind a natural, earthy scent that is delightfully refreshing and crisp. The scent isn't overpowering; just a delightful fragrance lingering in the background.

Verdict

I thought this November 2021 Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box had an interesting curation of products. The Laritzy lipstick is a nice staple to have around the house, and it’s versatile enough to create various looks. I was intrigued by Modern Sprout’s seed ball kit, and I can’t wait to begin this new DIY project and see what kind of results I get. The Frey Clothing fragrance booster is an effective product that I likely never would have tried if not for a subscription box. Bodifresh’s toilet tissue moisturizer is such a smart product. I love it and will definitely plan to repurchase in the future. The two products I was most surprised to see in this box were the Stacey Moore Studio’s curiosity cards and the Stellar Factory’s Peek and Push memory game. Although I'll be passing along the curiosity cards to a friend, I’m hoping to put the memory game to good use in sharpening my brain. The two essential oils, Sweet Basil and ‘Refresh,’ pack powerful scents, to say the least, and I’m hopeful to see what they can do to help combat any winter sinus symptoms. Lastly, the perfect way to end a box: with a snack. Mozaics veggie chips were a pleasant surprise to my taste buds and a nice contender as a healthy swap for regular potato chips. Overall, I think this box provided a nice spread of products that I will get good use out of. That said, the cohesiveness of the selected products and this box’s theme were lacking a bit.

This looks like a great box theme for me, although I gave up on B&C a while ago. The bath tissue spray is interesting; I had no idea that existed! I’m making a note of it to check out sometime.

Good luck with your pizza garden!!
