Walmart Limited Edition "Eye Love Being Home" Winter Beauty Box Review - December 2020

To start off our box, we received this pamphlet detailing each item with a summary and value. The back also includes a gift code for a complimentary magazine subscription.

Bliss "Eye Got This" Holographic Foil Eye Masks - Retail Value - $2.97

As I have entered my 30s, I have noticed that if I don't get a full 8 hours of sleep a night, it is inevitable that I will have puffy eyes and dark circles in the morning. I have tried multiple brands of eye masks, but none have been as flashy as these babies! Usually my kids cry when they see me wearing the gel-like versions of these things, but with the holographic stars, my youngest told me I looked like a rock star. Did they de-puff my under eyes? I'm not sure if it was the vegetable derived moisturizing combo in these eye masks or the double shot of espresso, but my eyes did seem to look a lot better after wearing these!

Flashy huh?

Vital Proteins Lavender Lemon Beauty Collagen - Estimated Value $1.41 (Buy a pack of 24 for $34.00)

I really want to get on the collagen train as I could use all the skin, hair, nail, and joint support a girl can get, but the ingredient "bovine hide collagen" just kind of grosses me out. I am not a vegetarian, and I eat all the meat, but this little powder packet just kind of scares me. To make, you add this packet to a glass of water and stir. The powder itself smells slightly of lemon with a hint of lavender, but I just couldn't stomach drinking the entire glass. Does anyone have any tricks to hide this in your drink?

TRESemme Pro Pure Shampoo 3 oz. - Estimated Value $1.12 (Buy a 16 oz. container for $5.98)

TRESemme Pro Pure Conditioner 3 oz. - Estimated Value $1.12 (Buy a 16 oz. container for $5.98)

While I generally stick with salon brand shampoo and conditioners, I was really impressed with the clean, fresh, and lightly floral scent of this shampoo and conditioner. Free of silicones, parabens, and dyes, this light moisture shampoo tended to my dry hair, without leaving it looking greasy. The three-ounce containers are a bit bigger than traditional travel size and don't take up a ton of room on my shower ledge. I like the fact that I can throw these in my travel bag, even though that poor bag hasn't seen the light of day in almost a year now!

Biore Charcoal Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - Estimated Value $0.80 (Buy a Value Pack of 18 for $14.44)

I have extremely acne-prone skin and have spent over half of my life trying out products to try and keep my face oil and zit free. Between prescription medications and over-the-counter concoctions, I finally had my skin looking pretty decent...and then the maskne happened...Ugh!!! Since I have been working from home for the last 3 weeks, my skin is finally clearing back up, but I did have some blackheads that needed vacating. I washed my face, lightly wet my nose, and applied this charcoal pore strip. After I set my timer for 15 minutes, I carefully peeled off the strip to reveal an impressive amount of blackheads. Yuck! I've tried these a few times in the past, but I do think this particular strip worked better than other brands. I'm not sure if it was the drying of the charcoal, but I am going to add these to my arsenal of products.

NYX Fill & Fluff Clear Brow Pomade Pencil - Full Size! Retail Value - $10.97

Oh, how I wish I could go back to the early 2000s and stop myself from over-plucking my brows! I have since spent the last 10 years lightly penciling in my brows to fill in and shape my brows into what they naturally looked like. I was really excited to receive this NYX Fill and Fluff Clear Brow Pomade as I tend to my brows daily. This clear pomade kept all of my strays in line and put them in place. The little brush is so soft and groomed each hair perfectly. I enjoyed this product, and while checking out the purchase info, I noticed this comes in a variety of colors along with clear. I think I would really enjoy the ash brown version to add a bit of volume to my brows and plan on adding it to my Walmart list for next week. (Check out my eye mask photo above to see how this brow pomade applied.)

essie Nail Polish in "Mosaic On Down" - Full Size! Retail Value $7.89

Anything that glitters and is gold, I swear, was made for me. While I usually don a natural nail look (because gel destroys my nails, and I'm too impatient to let traditional nail polishes dry) I immediately had to apply this shiny, glittery polish to my nails. I have used essie polishes in the past, but this gold version seemed to dry lightning-fast – and looks amazing! As far as wear time goes, I have done dishes in scorching water, assembled an excavator erector set, and folded laundry without a scuff or chip, which is pretty good. I noticed on the Walmart website, this brand is rated with 4.6 stars and has over 10,000 ratings which is pretty substantial!

Two coats and 10 minutes later and I've got myself a pure gold manicure!

e.l.f.  Energizing Facial Oil Mist - Full Size! Retail Value $5.00

Like I mentioned above, my skin is acne-prone, so any time I see "facial oil" I tend to hesitate a bit. Since this is a mist, I did spritz myself throughout the day with it and found the light citrus and white tea scent to be of just the right caliber. After reading the ingredients, I noticed there were quite a few "glycols" in this mist, which actually left my skin feeling more dry than moisturized. This actually works out for my extensively oily skin but can see it wreaking havoc on someone with dry or sensitive skin.

WoodWick Mini Hourglass Candle 3 oz. - Estimated Value $4.19 (Buy a 22 oz candle for $30.79)

I love candles, and it just so happens that my sister gifts me with a new WoodWick candle every Christmas, so I was delighted to receive this cute mini version in one of my all-time favorite scents: Crimson Berries. The slightly sweet almost cinnamony fragrance is pure delight, without being too potent. These candles don't have near the throw power of a Bath and Body Works candle, but the crackle and muted scent are more husband friendly. I do want to mention that if you tend to burn a lot of candles – make sure to check/replace your furnace filter more frequently than recommended, as the candle wax turns them black!

Verdict: This is my first time reviewing a Limited Edition Walmart Beauty Box and I am impressed! My favorite item this month was the candle, but I also discovered new items that I will be purchasing in the future because of this box, such as the pore strips and pomade pencil. I did find it interesting when linking the items, that some of the retail values in the pamphlet don't match up with the online prices, mostly being less than what it actually would be to purchase online. My estimated value of this box came in at $35.47, which is almost 3X the cost of the box, which I feel is a great value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, both versions are still in stock.

Value Breakdown: At $12.98 cost for this box and 9 items, you are paying approximately $1.44 per item.

I didn’t order this, but got my Winter Walmart box yesterday, which was a surprise. I’ve never gotten one so fast! There’s no listing here yet for spoilers for it, but I got a full size Hard Candy Envy Setting Spray, a box of Lola Organic Cotton Tampons, purse size sample of Earth to Skin Hand Sanitizer Gel, a one time use Vital Proteins Strawberry Lemon Beauty Collagen sample, a Neutrogena Stubborn Acne Am Treatment sample and a foil sample of Bio Oil Dry Skin Gel. The card that came with it listed eight other possibilities if anyone wants to know what else they may be getting. I thought it was a nice box for $5.00.

I just got my box but received White Teak as the candle scent.

Thanks to Becca’s timely review, I saved my money for not ordering. I was most interested in the brow product and ELF oil mist. I prefer colored wax for my brow and I don’t need the oil mist to dry my skin, so I am glad I waited for the review.

Jennifer

Oh gawd….I ordered 2 of these boxes and reading Dawns comment has me petrified that I am going to get two crap boxes. 😥🤬 ugh That is typically my luck….oh well…I usually put a gift in my Poshmark sales so I roll with that! 😁👍

Great job on the review 😁❤

Joy-Not the Other One

I wouldn’t worry. The contents she listed are the exact contents for the other box that is available right now. I’m pretty sure she just ordered the other box.

Jennifer

Awesome! Thank you 🌞😎❤

Becca Peterson

Thank you Jennifer! I hope you get the boxes you wanted!

Dawn

I just got this and I’m sad to say that it had lots of unexpected substitutions. I got Bliss foaming cleanser instead of the the eye masks. I did not get the Wood Wick candle, which is what I wanted most. I got a Daily Concepts scrub pad instead. I did not get the NYX brow pencil. I got NYX lip color instead. My facial mist was different than what was pictured. Big, big bummer.

Maureen

That is a bummer Dawn. I ordered the Eye Love Box Dec 11th. Still waiting, it might come this week or next I am in New Jersey ..so you never know 🙂 . Sounds like a lot of substitutions. I wanted the candle also. Lets see what I get. I will report back. Have a good Friday folks.

Ok time for an update at 7:50 pm on 1/8/21 we have success ! I just received the eye love box with the correct contents including the candle, eye masks and all the rest. Wrapped very well so nothing broke. Very, Very happy. Hang in there everyone that is waiting for their box to arrive. Good luck. Now time to play with all my new treats.

Dawn

I think you’re right. It probably was my ordering mistake and I got the Zoom Ready box. It had the gold nail polish in it, so I was thinking I was looking at substitutions. Thanks!

Becca Peterson

Oh no Dawn! It sounds like you got the Limited Edition “Zoom Ready” box instead of the “Eye Love Being Home” box.

Esther Naholowaa

Dawn, it sounds like you may have gotten the other box option? Instead of the “Eye Love Being Home”, yours sounds like the “Zoom Ready”.

SquirrelyGirl

WoodWick candles and DW Home candles are my two favorite candle brands. I know that everyone raves about BWB candles, but they just give me headaches. WW and DWH have the perfect amount of throw for me. If they ever made a sub box, I would subscribe in a heartbeat! I am burning a smoked vanilla one from WW right now.

I love that nail polish on you!

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

Thanks for commenting SquirrelyGirl! I too would subscribe to a WW and DWH box if they offered one! I am burning the WW Amberwood tin right now that my sister bought me for Christmas and I love it!!

I use unflavored collagen powder (VP blue container or Bulletproof brand). I mix it in my coffee every morning, but I only use 1/2 a serving at a time (one scoop or half a packet).

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

That’s a great idea too JesCro! Thanks for the tip…I’m going to have to try that!

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

I love the little candle!

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

Isn’t it cute Carol? And the smell was amazing….Charlie (my 5-year-old) declared it his favorite smell ever!

Alison

I use the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides unflavored powder everyday. I put a scoop in with my chia seed pudding. My husband puts it in his smoothies everyday. I would suggest mixing it with something that is fruitier or has a stronger flavor that you prefer. I love it ❤️.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

That’s a really good idea Alison! I was on a strawberry smoothie kick until they kind of went out of season, but when I start back up again I will have to try it in there. Thanks for the tip! ❤

LosLunas

Excellent thanks 🙂 , I wanted to see in detail what Walmart box contains, I like to try new things and for that price..worth it for me, I have a teenager (12 years old) she uses what I do not want .. she already told me that she wants the candle, nail polish and biore. :-/

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

You’re welcome LosLunas! This price point is pretty great, and the contents were up to par this go around too. It sounds like you’ll need 2 boxes 😂

Great review, now I want one! Love candles!

Becca Peterson

Thanks for the kind comments JRose ❤ I love candles too!!

No need to bust on the Walmart box. Everyone has different tastes. My CVS carries Thomas Peter Roth, GLamglow and more now. Always high end products coming to the drugstores!

Reply ButtonReply

Pat Greene

LOLOL. A WALMART box? No thanks. What’s next? A CVS box? Actually, come to think of it, CVS carries some good brands. But you couldn’t pay me to shop at Walmart.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy-Not the Other One

Luckily this box comes in the mail so you don’t have to step foot in a Walmart. Also, I just got my CVS beauty bag today. It is a pretty large sized silver (or peachy color-your choice) quilted makeup bag that contains a Creme Shop sheet mask, hand cream, Dickinson’s rose water witch hazel toner, a full set of Dashing Diva nail stickers, and a lip balm for $14.99. Lovely! You do have to go into the store to get this one though. 😀

Why do I have a image of pearl clutching and the use of a fainting couch? 😆

Target has the occasional box as well, if you find that better suited to your sensibilities.

(Honestly, I don’t care for Walmart much. But in smaller communities such as mine, it’s what we have to work with. Like Alice, I have to drive about 45 minutes to get to a different chain).

Ooh, I love me some good snobbery LOLOL

There’s gotta be one in every group, right? 😂
I subscribe to several other pricier subscriptions, but I always enjoy my Walmart box.

Lol

We have Walgreens, CVS, Walmart…and not much else. Walmart shopping is inevitable unless one wants to drive 75+ mIles to other stores.

Carol

Why?

Bethani

Walmart box isn’t new, they have had there $5 seasonal sub boxes for years now and they actually have some great beauty finds in it.

Reply ButtonReply

Jody

I am waiting on my box to arrive. I love those Bliss eye patches. They cost $4 a pair where I live and they do a great job. I look forward to the new brow pomade to try as well.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

Those brow patches are so cool! I love Bliss products, and those holographic stars just make me happy! Thanks for commenting Jody.

Reply ButtonReply

Esther

Great review, thanks! I ordered two after reading – the brow pencil, Essie polish and candle look great!

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

That’s awesome Esther! I caved and ordered another one….I just love that candle and those eye patches so much!

Reply ButtonReply

EmmaLo

Thanks for the review! I ordered this to get the brow pomade, everything else is a bonus for me 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

Thanks for reading EmmaLo! The brow pomade worked really well for me….I haven’t been to town yet to check out the colored versions, but I’m interested to see how the colored ones will look.
