What is the new subscription rate, and when does it go into effect?

  • New members can choose from the new rate of $23/month or $250/year starting with the October 2020 box.
  • Current monthly members will begin the $23/month rate with their October 2020 box unless they cancel. Current annual members will renew at the $250/year rate at the time of their next renewal (on the 13th month of their original purchase) unless they cancel.

When exactly will I be charged the new subscription rate?

  • If you are already an active Allure Beauty Box monthly subscriber, starting in October, your subscription will automatically renew and your credit card will be charged at the new rate of $23 each month until you cancel. You will be billed in the first week of each month, usually between the 1st and 3rd, and approximately 7 to 10 days prior to when your box ships.
  • If you are a new subscriber, you will be billed on the day that you sign up. Please note: If you sign up at the end of the month, you will receive two boxes (the current month’s box and following month’s box) back-to-back, and your credit card will be charged for both boxes.
      • Note: If you sign up at the end of the month, it is likely that you will be charged for your second box before you receive your first box.
  • If you sign up for an annual subscription, your membership will renew on the 13th month of your original purchase. You will be notified by email before this transaction occurs.

I initially ordered the 3-month subscription, but due to a glitch on their website I was charged twice. I got it corrected. The second month into the membership I ordered some additional items. They came, and then they came AGAIN. I called customer service because I had no intention of paying for two of all the items I ordered (which came to around $124). They responded by telling me I had placed the second order three days later – for the same items?!? This was untrue. I also had no confirmation email, except from the original order. Then they tell me the boxes are non-refundable so I am stuck. At this point I am contacting both my credit card company and the State’s Attorney’s office, because this is fraud. Bottom line…love the monthly boxes and they are well worth the price, but bad customer service, fraudulent charges, and a complete lack of taking responsibility for the errors on their side. Very disappointing experience.

unfortunately, I’ve had nothing but issues with my Allure subscription. Back in September, we had a lot of chaos here in Philly; resulting in delays & missing mail. One of which, was the Allure box.
Allure offered to resend it or refund it, I chose the re-send option. at the same time, I had to cancel my current subscription because I had just lost my job due to Covid
Long story short, it never arrived and I Continued to be charged in October. After four emails and no response I called their 800 number. Offered a refund on both charges, but then I received an email where Allure contradicted the earlier phone resolution
Now, here it is the end of October and I am still getting emails as if I am a current subscription, I was charged 2495 and still did not get a box, and only got refunded for September 16.95
To make matters worse, in October it was charged to my debit and not revolving card, I had chosen within my Amazon account.
An email from last week, said that my box shipped out,I haven’t received it and I still get emails as if I’m an active customer. it’s like nothing changed with a month of back-and-forth communication.
Getting involved with Condé Nast was a big mistake. i feel like these boxes are only for profit and not for the consumer.
***Sidenote, I did receive an email promotion from Condé Nast offering the allure box at 2495 beginning in December .

I loved Allure and the $15 price just the way it was. I’m so upset they raised the price so much. I think $23 is a little much even though you get like 1 more full sized product and whatever else they are offering. I don’t really like any of the spoiler, so I’m probably going to be skipping this month.

I received the FREE Mega Bundle (17 products valued over $264) today. It’s disappointing. Think small items (2 eye brushes, makeup eraser mini, doucce lip item, laritzy lip item, several ModelCo eye shadows). It was free and I would have bought the annual anyway so I really can’t complain. There is a mini (0.47 oz) St. Tropez self tan face mist that I will def. use.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

The best thing about the Mega Bundle was the red box!! 🙂
Although I was happy to receive a makeup eraser mini finally, I’d already received several of the items in the mega. I don’t care for any of the makeup in it. For once I would have been happier receiving a black eyeliner or mascara LOL!!
I’m interested to see where Allure goes from here. Lets all hope the Mega Bundles helped clear room on their shelves for some really great products!!

Reply ButtonReply

Liz

I too was disappointed because I’d already received every single one of those items. Not one new product.

I skipped several months this year so I now have the floss gloss in the Lax, lemon super food rescue butter (which was actually the one I item I was hoping for!), and mamonde serum (i think it was a varient item that month). Some items I was ok with the dups but dang that’s a lot of modelco🤣.

MsBailey

This is why I’m so hesitant to sign up for the annual sub. I don’t want or need more stuff from Doucce, Laritzy, ModelCo, YC collection, Purlisse, Floss, or IBY. I would add sheet masks but that’s just me not liking them.

Reply ButtonReply

SBR

I am just hoping for one or two items that I want or haven’t gotten yet. I would be great if the items in my bundle that I could regift to my family🤪.

Christine

I signed up for an annual subscription through the Allure site. I usually end up purchasing most of the year anyway and it will be cheaper this way overall. I’ve never had any issues with customer service service and I’ve only contacted them via e-mail.

I personally am trying to wean myself from Amazon. They are such a powerful company and aren’t a particularly good employer. If I can buy an item elsewhere, I will.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

Ditto on the trying to buy less from Amazon – My chief complaint is all the counterfeits (which can be legitimately dangerous). Also, I buy canned food from them, and more times than not, it’s dented. And not from shipping – they just sell it dented.

Reply ButtonReply

Jamey

Most likely get a huge discount on dented and make a killing reselling it

Cat

This post was helpful. Glad to know about the brushes and sheet masks! I haven’t changed my mind and plan to just carry on with my annual that I already paid for until April.

Reply ButtonReply

Miranda

Agreed. I locked in an annual sub back in April or may as well. Glad I did, but this post was definitely helpful.

Reply ButtonReply

Amy

I subscribed on August 23. When should I receive my first box?

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

Amy, probably mid to late September

Moni

I really like my Allure Beauty Box. I’ve been subscribed for about 8 years and have enjoyed most of the products I’ve received. I’ve even found some of my Holy Grails. I just can’t see myself getting completely unsubscibing..

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

Wow I didn’t even know it was that old!

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

So if I am already a member and pay monthly and want to sign up for the annual subscription can I do so on my current account?? Or do I have to cancel that sub and start a new subscription with the annual offer???

Reply ButtonReply

Shar

Krista, I just called an upgraded to the annual. I didn’t have to cancel. Just call their customer service. The rep was so nice. Also, she said because I converted to the annual, I will get the mega bundle in Oct.

Reply ButtonReply

JackieCupcake

Thank you for all this info! The “full-sized” description is particularly helpful, though I see a nail polish counts as a full-size (though other than the nail stickers, I can’t recall ever getting polish in my box). I’m hoping the boxes will improve, I’ve always enjoyed Allure.

I signed up for the annual (while having a monthly) and they sent me a duplicate August box. I called and they were super nice about it.

I know a lot of people complain about their customer service, but whenever I call – everyone is always super helpful. I’ve never had an issue with it. They are pretty good about email too.

Reply ButtonReply

SBR

Yeah, that’s my fear that they will send me a 2nd August since I converted to the annual after receiving my August box… i have skipped several months this year. 2x after my skipped was over at the beginning of the next month, I was charged and got shipped the previous month. Well, one time was a random older box. They did refund my $ each time.

Reply ButtonReply

JackieCupcake

They refunded me promptly and are letting me keep the box. So, if it happens to you – I’d just say call and they should make it right. 🙂

Charlotte

I’m glad they are keeping the option to subscribe through Amazon. I think I will just continue with my practice of subbing for months where I like the spoilers, and pausing for months I don’t. It’s just that with the new, higher, price, I will be more picky about which boxes are worth it. I imagine Allure will become a box I only get three or four times a year, instead of almost every month.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

That is what I am doing. Even at $15 price point I only got maybe 4 boxes a year. I hate unscented skin care and Allure sends too much.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

I love skincare, and mostly subscribed because full priced skincare is too expensive and I love the value in this box! I have friends I gift a lot of the makeup to.

Charlotte

Haha, I have sensitive skin, and can only use unscented skin care. Different strokes!

shakingmyhead

Same here. I will keep it through Amazon.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

Good idea! This is my relationship with BeautyFix. I sign up if I like the contents, receive the box and deactivate the account. This way you get only what you really want and you don’t feel like you wasted your money some months. I may do that, now that I’ve canceled Allure. Good strategy for boxes without customization.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

yeah, so i signed up through amazon and I got the gift with purchase… which is not what the above Q&A states… just fyi

Reply ButtonReply

Kilie

You did?? I never got the gift with purchase when I initially signed up thru Amazon. So I ended up cancelling that and subscribing via the actual Allure website, where I did get the gift. However, I will say though, that I did get better/different products when I was signed up thru Amazon. But it’s upsetting when they dont keep their word about the free gift offers with new member sign-up.

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

You mean the mega bundle or just the extra item for that month?

Reply ButtonReply

Tina Ames

So what if you subscribe though Amazon, will the price go up on there or are we locked in at 15.00…..Also will the Amazon box still have a couple different items like it always has?

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

Tina, I’ve been subbed through Amazon for two years, and I can only recall one time (March 2019) where Amazon subscribers received anything different from the spoilers? Usually, if there’s any sort of variant, Amazon subscribers get the original spoilers. It’s actually one of the reason I keep my subscription through Amazon, because we almost always get the products that haven’t been sent before.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

As long as I can get the boxes through Amazon, I’m happy. If that goes away, I will simply not get the box. I have had nothing but problems with the Allure website and their CS.
They’ve never been able to ” find my subscription” but as I’d had it for years, they were charging me for it monthly.

I will not deal with that kind of thing again. New card, new expectations of honesty.

Reply ButtonReply

Christy

I’m still on the fence, but I just want to say how much I appreciate this post! These were the exact Q and As that I needed to know in order to make my decision. I’ve been leaning into allure for the skin care but $23 just seems like a lot for not knowing what I’ll be getting. Being able to skip a month and knowing that a brush or a sheet mask won’t be one of the “full size” products makes me feel a lot more comfortable. The other “benefits” I honestly couldn’t really care less about at the moment.

Reply ButtonReply

Izzie

Agree on everything you wrote!

Reply ButtonReply

MsBailey

I loved Allure when they featured great products from great brands. If this is going to turn into just another sub box filled with just average products (I’m looking at you Doucce), I may cancel my long-running sub. I’ve tried so many products from the indie/unknown brands and feel that the majority of products do not live up to the supposed value.

Reply ButtonReply

Jamey

I agree Doucce is a crappy brand alone with bella pierre, and all the other craptastic brands

Reply ButtonReply

Sherri H

How is Doucce ordinary? I really like there product and they are definitely on the more expensive side,( at least some of there products are), plus they are only one of the beauty brands that dont make you pay for shipping and actually give to two deluxe size samples with every order, regardless on hiw much you spend., but this Verso brand that is going to be in the October box is not very good and is definitely more than ordinary! I do agree with you about ordinary products for more money, i hope it dont end up like that, but based on these spoilers, it dont look to good for Allure, IMO

Reply ButtonReply

niki

doucce is a private label brand. its not good quality.

Sherri H

I have tried the Verso eye cream, it is not that great!, in fact, i ended up not using the rest of it. It did nothing for me! I love the Allure beauty boxes, but i wont pay over $20.00 for any beauty sub that has deluxe size samples in it. It looks like this will be the end of my subscription with Allure.

Reply ButtonReply

Toni Marie

I agree… $23 for deluxe samples is a bit much. I can get a full sized products for that price with another subscription box. I do like the products that come in the box so I will be watching out for October and will decide what boxes will be good for me and which ones wont. I have been canceling boxes like crazy lately because I dont see the value for my money.. like all of my boxycharm boxes.. I live their sales though…

Reply ButtonReply

Sherri H

Yeah, i agree with you!, I love some of the products that come in the Allure Boxes, it is a shame that they have increased there price, when alot of the boxes they send out have already had two to three full size products and usually 5 to 6 products total in there boxes. They were one of the cheaper subscription boxes with awesome products. We will just have to wait and see what products they are sending every month.

Jenny

Is the verso full size now or still a sample?

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I originally thought the eye serum was a sample because the full size that sells on sites comes in a bottle, but that bottle is 1.01oz which is twice the size of a typical eye serum, and I saw this exact same tube somewhere else and it said it’s 20ml/.67oz which is still a little larger than the typical .5oz eye serum, so assuming this is 20ml, then it’s definitely a full size, so to speak. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I think the link is from MSA and not Allure, and since MSA wrote it’s full size next to the link I’m assuming that’s what Allure said. Assuming (there’s that word again, lol) that the eye serum is 20ml/.67oz, then it actually is a little larger than a typical full size eye serum which is usually sold with a .5oz weight, however this may not be Verso’s “full size” since they sell it in a 1.01oz bottle. I can see how some people would still consider it a sample though since it’s not the brand’s full size (and I agree that saying it’s the brand’s full size when it’s not is misleading), but if it does end up being a 20m/.67oz product like I’ve seen a similar looking tube listed somewhere else (not relating to the Allure box) then to me I’d consider it a full size. Regardless, I’ll be happy with it because I tend to get weeks worth of uses even from an eye serum sample. 🙂

Coco1

My concern with the eye serum spoiler is that Allure is now calling it full size, but they didn’t say that when they released it as the first spoiler, or even the first time they released these 3 spoilers. Also, when you click the link for it, it takes you to Dermstore, which is selling it as a 1oz. bottle for $85. Now THAT is full size. And if that’s the link Allure provides, then IMO that’s what we should be getting in the box when they’re saying it’s full size.

Luna

You’re welcome! I think it was you that had originally asked in a prior post if the eye serum was a sample or full size, and I had stated it was a sample. I felt bad about that after realizing (I think just yesterday) it is in fact the size of a typical full size serum (although it may not be Verso’s “full size”; I can’t find the 20ml selling anywhere via a quick search).

Oz

Wow Luna, you are always in the know about practically every box. I really appreciate you sharing all the information from various different threads. You are a wealth of knowledge and it is appreciated.

Sherri H

It says Full Size.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

So I still don’t understand what happens if I have an annual through January. I’d like to cancel it and restart at the new rate, but …

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Different Michelle here! Same issue. I called customer service and they person I spoke to had no idea!!!!! It was like I was asking a crazy question. Hard to believe I was the only person in this situation. She put me on hold to ask a supervisor and after 5 min it disconnected 🤬. Haven’t tried again yet

Reply ButtonReply

Errmmm

Definitely call them to clarify your situation. 800-274-1603. That way you’ll hear it straight from them and they’ll be able to proceed the way you’d like.

If I were you, if you can’t cancel your current subscription that goes through Jan, I’d try to arrange it so you can lock in the $165 per year offer once your current sub expires. It can’t hurt to ask, and definitely have them email it to you in writing if they agree to it. That way you won’t have to worry about anything.

Good luck!

Reply ButtonReply

SBR

See if you can renew early basically locking in the rate until your current and the new yearly runs out.

Elizabeth

Yes, perhaps you could even start your new sub now but “pause/skip it” until your current sub ends.

Dawn

Allure is my favorite sub box, it is the only one I have never canceled. I went ahead and did the annual, can’t wait to see how they will improve even more!

Reply ButtonReply

Phung

The $165 annual is so tempting! But product overload:(

Reply ButtonReply

Lawden

I feel like the 165 for annual is a typo and they meant to say the $250. I would reach out to Allure before subbing y’all! I just feel like maybe they cut and pasted that by mistake bc you can see above they say $250 for the yearly. I just don’t want anyone to get over charged essentially bc they got it only bc of the lower price. Just to be sure I’d Check! Never hurts!

Reply ButtonReply

Lawden

Oh wow, then that’s an incredible price! Thinking I should go for it lol!

Elizabeth

No, $165 plus a mystery bundle is accurate. I’ve been billed and received shipping confirmations, excited to get my boxes!

Laurie Hall

Called them earlier in the week. It’s $165.

Lisa

Me too! I have spent some time thinking on it and decided to spend the extra $8 when I see a box I like. My husband put it to me like this, don’t spend money now on something unknown just to save money later. He also told me he would just give me the $8 because he knows how big my stash is 🤣

Reply ButtonReply

Cassandra

Luna, I feel that same way about deals. I already feel like October looks good and getting the box at $13.75 is just a great deal. I haven’t signed up because I also feel like i need to use everything so still debating, but am 90% sure i will sign up. Plus the person i usually give things to has health issues so we are only virtually right now. But I guess i could send a nice Christmas gift!

Luna

I agree with Anna about the $8 comment being too funny, because I’m told something very similar by my family sometimes… maybe not with my beauty boxes, but basically everything else in my life I can be quite frugal, and if I end up spending more (even a few cents) than I felt I could have I feel a bit bummed by that and sort of voice my disappointment, and now they tease me that they now carry change with them to throw at me to shut me up when times like that happen, lol. Or similarly to your case, they’ll say, “I’ll give you the $xx if it’ll make you stop whining about it”… all said endearingly of course. 🙂

Anna

That is too funny! I could totally see my husband saying the 8$ thing!

Ingermaria

Thank your husband for me too, Lisa! I too have way more than I could ever use, I have to work through what I have. I sub through Amazon, and I’ll keep pausing until I see a box I really like.

Alice

Agree with your husband! I have so much product to consume. I can’t see the point if getting more…unknown at that.

Dea

Me three! your husband is very wise. I will NOT take this plunge. I will be a good girl in these strapped times, stick with just my ipsy GBP, and work on decimating my stash. Tell your husband that he has great logic and reasoning and that a stranger thanks him for saving her $165.
