Scentbird Skincare March Review

Scentbird might already be your go-to for scents each month but when we discovered they also offer skincare as a monthly option? You know I had to sign up!! The skincare options work similarly to the fragrances. Within the shop, simply select the skincare tab and start adding items to your queue.

Here is an example of some of the brands and products. There are limited numbers of each, though they seem to be restocked quite often. In the upper right-hand corner of each image, you can see your upgrade cost which is added to your normal membership price. These upgrades range from $5-15, though some of the less expensive items have no additional charge.

Here is what my queue currently looks like. In my first month of November, I saved a ton of money. I decided to up my membership to the 2 products per month plan ($25.00/month) to see how far I could stretch my membership dollars.

What did I pick this month? Let's dive in!

I chose two products this month, one from Nuria and the other from Alpyn Beauty.

Nuria Hydrate Revitalizing Jelly Night Treatment, 1.9 oz - Retail Value $50.00

FYI: This item has a $10 premium upcharge.

Unique bilberry-hued formula that is designed to work like a sleeping mask and acts like a super hydrator. It is part of the Hydrate Collection, which is inspired by European climates, from the warm, breezy Mediterranean to the cold beauty of Scandinavia. Hydrate products deeply nourish your skin to reveal its natural glow. Great for all skin types including: sensitive, dry, acne prone, oily, or combo.

My skin has been pretty dull lately (literally I have so much time for skincare right now and I am slacking!) so I decided to select this sleeping mask. I was intrigued by the jelly formulation since I tend to select oils or creams. I was delighted when it arrived to see that it indeed was a rich deep blue jelly! It was really dense and on the firm side, which made the application extra weird but also extra fun. A little goes a long way here, and this formula is indeed moisturizing, though not as much as a cream or oil. I am pleased to report there is zero stickiness! Though this is a night formula, I actually preferred this for daytime use as I have super dry skin with high moisture needs. I really enjoy the Nuria brand for their creative formulas, and this is just another great example!

Alpyn Beauty Calming Midnight Mask with Melatonin & Wild Dandelion, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $68.00

FYI: This item has a $10 premium upcharge.

Sweet Dreams. Dream Skin. Harnessing the power and natural resiliency of plants, our high-performance restorative overnight treatment melts into skin, delivering an immediate glass-like finish, and works overtime, and afterhours, while you sleep, to calm, soothe, hydrate, and repair. You wake up rested and recharged—and so does your skin.

My second item this month was also a night formula. This is my first item from Alpyn Beauty and I am impressed! Made in the US from wild-crafted herbs and botanicals, this cream feels like a dream on my skin. It contains loads of my fave ingredients too: ceramides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and bakuchiol. Also inside are melatonin and dandelion root, which add to the whole nighttime routine feel. I really liked this formula. It absorbed into my skin easily but left it feeling soft and calm. It has a wonderfully natural scent that reminds me of spring grass and flowers. My skin looked really great in the morning after one use, so I am excited to see how it improves as I use it more and more often.

Verdict: This month with my $25 membership plus 2 $10 upcharges, my total for March came to $45. I received $118 worth of products that I really enjoyed. That feels like a pretty great deal to me! I think between the two, the Alpyn Beauty cream was the winner, but I am pretty thrilled with both of these formulas.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose these items for your queue. As long as there is still stock at the time of your monthly processing, they're yours!

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $25/monthly for two items and my product of choices had a $20 total upgrade fee attached, bringing my total cost to $45. For $118.00 dollars worth product, this means I saved almost 62%!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I would love to know if any subscription members have had issues with customer service. It’s clear, Megan, has not, more than likely because she’s not paying. I took a three month skip from this sub which was to resume in May, which I unpaused, had my choices in my queue (this was in April), got confirmation of my May choices, was charged. I get an email two days ago w tracking info that my May box with three fragrances are on the way. This is the second time this has happened!! The skincare choices are now appearing in my June queue. They fixed it the first time, but he very wary. They don’t have a phone number to call. I have emailed since then, and keep getting a generic response of “the Scentbird fairies” are backlogged because of Covid. Hey, I’m a nurse, I’ve worked nonstop plus overtime. You take my money, I deserve a response after almost three days.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for sharing your experiences with this sub. Can anyone please tell me if this is the sub that allows you to choose Deck of Scarlet palettes, and if so, the upcharge involved and whether they seem to be offering a wide range of the palettes or just one or two? Thank you in advance for any advice on this!
And p.s. Megan, great review as always, thank you

Hi Mimosa,
I just took a look for you and yes, they have the Deck of Scarlet palettes # 02, 03, 04, 06, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13 and another Destination palette. None of them has any premium upgrade fee.

Hi GM Forever!
Thank you so much for checking for me! Think I’m going to have to get onto this sub. Looks great. Thank you for letting me know all the different palettes, too. The details really help.

Megan I would love to know if the site has the Nuria essence to choose. That is my favorite item. Can’t find another product that has the thickness to it. I can’t seem to find out without making an account.

Hi Jody, I am a subscriber, and I checked for you to see if that serum is available. Unfortunately there isn’t anymore Nuria product’s in any skincare category now. I’ve noticed that item’s tend to sell out pretty quick. I usually check their stock pretty frequently. If you don’t want to create an account, you could maybe email them first, but I’m sure their response time right now is pretty slow. Good luck!

Hello! As of right now that is not available. Things come and go so it might be back but right this minute it is not. I checked because I’d hate for you to sign up just for that and then realize it’s sold out. Hope this helps!

Thanks Megan for turning me onto this sub last month! I chose the Joanna Vargus and Dr Loretta serums this month and love them! Joanna Vargus serum smells so good! I may have bump up to the 3 product sub once my other annuals finish as I do like the concept of choosing items I’d actually use instead of just getting a lot of “filler” or categories I don’t need a lot of products from.

are there always upgrade charges for items, or can you get the 2 items a month for the 25 dollars and not spend extra money? i am curious. also what kind of products do they offer?

Flora

They do have items that do not have any additional cost. They call it “premium” products, maybe an RV of $45+? I see they are offering a FRÉ Glow Me Face Moisturizer with RV $45 at base price. But the SATURDAY SKIN Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream RV $46 has a +$5 charge. They also don’t have any additional charges on their own branded items. All candles and other than a Luxie brush set, all the makeup have no additional fee. Some of the charges also don’t seem to have a rhyme or reason, like a $5 additional fee on JOANNA VARGAS Daily Hydrating Cream that’s retails $75 while there is a $10 fee on a GLAMGLOW WATERBURST Hydrated Glow Moisturizer that is $52. It would seem like a $75 item would have an fee of $10 while the $52 item be $5 which isn’t always the case.

Hello! There are not always up charges. Only certain items have an up charge. There are plenty to choose from without an up charge. I e been a member with a 3 item a month plan ($35 a month) since October and I love it. I do usually get one item with an up charge but that is totally my choice, it’s not required. I will say though that the small up charges are beyond worth it. The Alpyn product above for instance retails for $65 I believe and with only a $10 up charge that means I only pay approximately $21 for it including the up charge so it’s an amazing deal.

As far as what they offer, there is everything from fragrance to skincare and makeup to wellness. This month I got a fragrance, the Aplyn product above, and a deodorant. Last month I got a set of Luxie face brushes, some Patchology eye gels, and a bottle of CBD gummies! I’ve got my queue filled out for the next year! It’s my favorite sub because everything is full sized, brand name and I choose exactly what I want. Hope this helps!

I am so glad to see you loved the Alpyn product because that is one of my items for April. It should be here by the end of the month! I also got the new Scentbird aluminum free deodorant and a fragrance this time. I can’t remember the last time I actually chose a fragrance as one of my items but the ones I want to try seem to be going quickly here lately so I thought I should get it while I had the chance. I can’t wait to try the Alpyn! Thank you for doing this review every month!

Yay! I really like the Alpyn. It has been my go-to before bed (when I am not slathering on other things to test!) It feels really springy too. Hope you love it!
