Beachly Lifestyle Box Spring 2024

Is it just me or does the arrival of spring feel like a bigger deal this year than it did any year prior? I generally embrace all seasons—with a very welcome little pop of sunshine when my Fall & Winter Beachly boxes arrive—but it was a slog this year. My Spring Beachly box is here to join me in my heralding of sunnier days!

This season returning customers have 6 customizable decisions to make—aka, the box is fully customizable!—with a possible retail value of up to $260. New subscribers can select their 6 favorite items from the Spring collection and/or some items from past boxes, like always. For new cuties, the possible retail value is up to $435.

Across Waves Sling Bag by Lu & Elle (Customizable) - Retail Value $89

Cuuuuute. I used a straw beach bag for many years until its straps fell off (at which point Beachly came in with a very timely delivery of a bigger, better beach bag this fall). And while it was decidedly time for that old one to go, I missed having the iconic summertime raffia in my life. And here we are! This little bag is sturdy. It has quality zippers, durable lining and stitching, and lots of pockets. The adjustable strap is thick, with metal slider buckles to adjust the length.

Guys, I'm having a moment with this sling bag. First of all, the customization decision was relatively easy for me because I am always carrying things, and always happy to have additional options for how to carry them. But the main factor that's blowing my mind is that up until now, I thought people were tossing regular old fanny packs over their shoulder and calling them sling bags. Turns out not! This one has no open-close buckle or closure. So if you want to wear it around your waist it's a bit of a commitment—you have to loosen the strap and step or wiggle into it, and tighten it to your waist. I'm open to it! I showed how that might look in the photos above. But it's also very comfortable on my upper body.

Other Customizable Options

The alternative selections for this first customization tier are The Islander Coverup Dress by

Poolside Paradiso or The Makay Sunglasses by Diff Eyewear.

The Earth Towel by Sand Cloud (Customizable) - Listed Value $50

Beach towels are an area of my life that could use improving. There's nothing quite like the soft coziness of a classic terry cloth towel when you emerge from the pool or ocean, but they take up so much space to store and carry. The quick-dry microfiber ones are slimmer but the feeling of the material is a hard no for me. Sill an organic turkish cotton towel check all the boxes? I can't wait to find out. At the very least, it's clearly a great towel to spread and sit on, and it's supposedly sand-resistant. The fine weave of the natural fibers are nice. Will it be absorbent? Does anyone have experience with this?

All that aside, the colors and pattern of this towel are spot on. I love that it's simultaneously happy and neutral. This pattern is sold out online but you can see a similar one here.

Other Customizable Options

The other options for customization in this second tier are a Beachly-exclusive frame and coaster set and The Capri Visor by Hemlock Hat Co.

The Tie Dye Coconut Tee by Post Surf Collective - Listed Value $38

This third choice provided options within options. If you're into the tie dye T-shirt situation, you can choose between this tan-and-white one that says COCONUT in light blue embroidery. The other one available is a yellow tie-dye tee that has GOLDEN embroidered on the front. Both are Beachly-exclusive. It took me a long time to decide because I'm immediately drawn to goldenrod things always, but I thought I'd switch it up for once.

SO cute and easy to wear. I didn't anticipate just how oversized it would be, and it felt like a ton of material at first—and the cotton is nice and thick. But that just means I can wear it alone over a swimsuit or as a regular tee. Untucked, my shorts still peek out from under it. Tucked in, it's blousey but not overwhelming. Super into it.

Other Customizable Options

If neither tee strikes your fancy, you could choose The Evening Glass fragrance oil by Pirette or a Beachly-exclusive denim hat with "Salty" embroidery.

Mineral Body Sunscreen by Sand Cloud (Customizable) - Retail Value $18

A new tube of sunscreen was a no-brainer for me here. Last summer I had a skin reaction to the chemical sunscreen I'd been using for years, and it made me realize I should've made the switch to mineral a long time time ago for a bunch of reasons. But I haven't found a brand I'm loyal to yet, so this new one to try is welcome.

This SPF 30 sunscreen is free from Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, it's safer for the reef and marine life, it's fragrance-free, and it's water- & sweat-resistant for up to 40 minutes. In the last photo above you can see I spread it on my forearm and splashed water on it, and you can see the water droplets forming—a shake of the arm and they were off. I am so committed to sun protection as a fair, freckly person that I no longer care if I have white streaks visible from sunscreen, but I will disclaim that in the photo above I didn't rub the sunscreen in as much as I would were I applying it to my whole body.

Other Customizable Option

Your other option is a Beachly-exclusive tropical reusable tote bag.

The 'Cheers' Can Cooler Set by Beachly (Customizable) - Listed Value $15

What is it about koozies that give me for real summertime vibes? This duo brought the beach vibes out most for me this quarter. I'm in the camp of "you can never have too many koozies" because I've learned over the years that packing just enough for just myself and my husband is a weird power flex; if you have a few spares and can lend them to your buddies, everyone wins, it's a fantastic experience all around. Plus, I love the idea of coordinating tropical koozies with a girlfriend.

Other Customizable Option

The other option for this tier is a Beachly-exclusive pineapple lip balm by Zoe Ayla.

The Waiehu Mikiao Nail File Set By Iwi Nails — Retail Value $10

This last customization pick had me over here asking why I haven't been wearing anklets for the last decade? In my early 20s I layered on jewelry and loved it—big earrings, statement necklaces, layered bracelets, rings on multiple fingers and toes—and then over time I slowly shed them. Bracelets didn't make sense with my desk job. Necklaces and rings seemed superfluous while staying home with babies. You get the picture. (Big earrings never got the boot, because I think they're just in my DNA.) This ankle bracelet is so simple and yet so joyful. I'm in love with it and I have been wearing it every day, even under socks as the last of the chilly weather gets out of my region's system.

I love that there's no chain on this anklet, and how the string is knotted to give multiple size adjustments. I like how it fits on the second-to-tightest one, and I folded the string back and buttoned it again so it wasn't hanging down. Though, I suppose you could trim it off if you are sure of your size. Minimalist, sweet, un-cumbersome fun.

Other Customizable Option

Similar to how new members can always choose an item from past boxes for their first box, the final customization tier this quarter allows returning customers to do the same!

Verdict

I'm all about the Spring 2024 Beachly box! The anklet is the one little item I put on right away and haven't taken off, but as the warmer weather starts to make its way onto the scene, I know I am going to get a ton of use out of the sling bag, and I can picture myself rocking the shirt, sitting on the towel, slathering on the sunscreen, and sharing the koozies all summer ahead. Not a single item this quarter felt "meh." So happy!
