First Impressions

Open Envelope for Nourish Beauty Box January 2023

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives in a box with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other.

Nothing unusual with this month's packaging, and I'm interested to see what's been included this time around.

Now, on to the items!

NOURISH NATURALS Creamy Vegan Stain in Pinkelle, 2 g - Retail Value $22.00

The signature product this month is Nourish Naturals Creamy Vegan Stain in the shade ‘‘Pinkelle.’’ As someone who appreciates the simplicity of natural makeup, this particular shade is a nice addition to my arsenal. While it’s a bit too light for my skin tone if used as a cheek stain, it does offer a light pink flush that’s perfect for an everyday look. On the lips, it’s truly lovely, providing a subtle pop of color. Due to my combination skin, using this product as a blush isn’t an option. Thanks to its enriching ingredients like shea and kokum butters and marshmallow root extract, this stain is lusciously hydrating. The texture isn’t sticky but instead hydrating, and a little goes a long way. I do wish this stain came with a built-in applicator, but regardless, it’s a solid option for its versatility and the healthy glow it brings to my everyday makeup look.

RAIN ORGANICA Meadowfoam and Fog Rollerball, 10 ml - Retail Value $14.00

I’ve received this Meadowfoam and Fog Rollerball from Rain Organica in the past. It’s a unique product in the sense that it allows you to apply a literal drop of hydration directly to your skin. As a spot treatment, this rollerball works nicely, and I didn’t find the scent to be overpowering to my sensitive nose, featuring a mild blend of cardamom, chamomile, and lavender. When I first applied this product, I was surprised at how quickly it absorbed, and it lacks that overly greasy / oily feeling that I’ve come to expect from an oil-based product. I have a recurring eczema patch on my shoulder that flares up every time I venture out into the frigid New York weather, but this handy rollerball works great for treating any irritation. What I really enjoy about the roll-on applicator is that it allows for much less product waste than usual, especially when I’m blindly trying to deliver a boost of hydration to my eczema patch. This little guy now comes with me everywhere I go, and it’s been doing a great job of squashing any eczema resurgence.

LOVESONG Invisible Dry Shampoo Gel, 50 ml - Retail Value $36.00

Recently I’ve become slightly more familiar with dry shampoo and the benefits it can provide to those with hair unlike mine. Dry shampoos don’t exactly work for my thick, curly hair, which in fact craves oil. Unlike those with more finely textured hair, instead of wanting to rid my hair of oil, people with hair like mine are always in search of the best ways to lock in all the oily goodness we can get. This Invisible Dry Shampoo Gel from Lovesong serves to remove the excess from those whose hair creates an ample amount of oil naturally. For the sake of a review, I tested out this gel. All you do is pump some of the solution into your palm and then apply it to dry hair where some refreshment is desired. It has quite a strong lemon-y floral scent to it that reminds me a bit of Pledge, but the formula doesn’t leave behind a trace of a white cast, which is always a positive. After working in the dry shampoo to your scalp and roots, you can allow your hair to dry once applying the product or you can choose to blowdry it. My favorite thing about this product is that it is entirely natural unlike some other dry shampoos I’ve seen out there, and it even contains ingredients for the purpose of strengthening hair at the roots, which is a nice bonus. I’ll be passing along this product to a finer-haired friend of mine who can get more use out of it than myself.

JAZMINE BEAUTY Coastin’ Highlighter, 3.2 g - Retail Value $28.00

This Jazmine Beauty Coastin’ Highlighter has been a game-changer in my makeup routine. This particular shade is absolutely stunning, and it complements my skin tone perfectly. Its formula is infused with ingredients like camellia flower, white tea, and safflower seed oil, which not only provides a beautiful shimmer but also gives a loving dose of self-care to my skin. When I first applied this highlighter, I was quite taken with its weightless, buildable formula, which allows me to achieve the perfect level of luminosity, whether aiming for a subtle glow or a more dramatic shine. What I love most about this product is its versatility; it’s suitable for use on the face, eyes, and even the body, making it ideal for creating a cohesive, radiant look. The smooth application and the natural, sun-kissed finish it provides have made this highlighter a go-to in my makeup bag. Whether I’m heading out for a casual day or a fun night out, just a touch of this highlighter ensures a beautifully enduring shimmer and glow.

Verdict

This was a good month for Nourish Beauty Box! The highlight for me was definitely the shimmery highlighter from Jazmine Beauty. It’s a new go-to for me when it comes to boosting my makeup look. Nourish Naturals’ creamy vegan stain in ‘Pinkelle’ is a lovely pink shade that provides a pop of color for an everyday style. The rollerball from Rain Organica was a welcome addition to this box, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. On my next foray into the brisk New York weather, I’ll be ready to tackle any skin irritation that comes my way. Lastly, the dry shampoo from Lovesong…quite a unique product, and one that works well for those with hair unlike mine, so I’ll be passing it along to a finer-haired friend. Overall, I thought this was a solid month. The products are nicely varied, and the value is certainly there.
