First Impressions

The monthly Beauty Heroes delivery comes in a white box with a red-dotted sticker sealing it. Inside is protective sizzle and information about what you received that month.

The hero brand this month is de Mamiel, founded by and named after a doctor of Chinese Medicine, Aromatherapist, Esthetician, “wellbeing artisan.” Her work has been to develop a holistic approach to meeting and remedying stress through balanced skincare. De Mamiel offers two lines: Botaniques to address everyday emotional stress and Atmospheriques to combat environmental stress on the skin and body.

Those looking for a way to work these new products into a routine with the incredible products Beauty Heroes has sent you over past months can reference this card.

The Products

De Mamiel First Fix, 20 mL - Retail Value $216

With seven years of subscription boxes under my belt, I'm accustomed to January boxes being a bit underwhelming. That's not at all the case with Beauty Heroes, though! This stress response serum is like the fountain of youth in plain clothes. It's hydrating yet light, it absorbs quickly, it carries the faintest floral scent, and most remarkably, it's packed with ingredients that are clinically proven to decrease stress, increase relacation, down-regulate the central nervous system, and improve softness and smoothness.

The ingredients to thank are the proprietary Neurophroline™, an extract of wild indigo, which provides extra support to stress receptors; prebiotic ectoin that reinforces a vulnerable barrier function, sea buckthorn to boost skin density, and more.

Here's a peek at the pump and texture of this super-serum. What a way to kick off the year!

De Mamiel Multi-Active Hydramist, 30 mL - Retail Value $26

The pairing with our serum here is a face mist meant to offer a turbo-boost of hydration to your skin. It combines "multi-molecular weight hyaluronic and polyglucoronic acids (PGA) with wild rosella for immediate and sustained hydration and a more resilient microbiome and skin barrier." The spritz is ultra-light, and floral-forward—I don't see it on the ingredients list but I'm picking up a distinct ylang ylang scent. I like ylang ylang in certain scent combinations but I don't love it alone. I may gift this mist to a friend and let the serum be my focus for the month.

Verdict

Beauty Heroes has kicked 2024 off by spotlighting a superstar brand that dedicates itself to easing stress. What better time of the year to explore these high-end products and care for our skin while the weather is its harshest and the body and skin are needing rest and nourishment. The First Fix serum is a glorious way to step into and back out of my day. The Multi-Active Hydramist was not as much my jam, but it's still a great offering with its hyaluronic acid, rice peptides, and more.

The Beauty Heroes subscription costs $58.95. This box contained $242 worth of high-quality skincare. Awooga, awooga!

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.
