First Impressions

We are 10 days before the official start of winter, and look what was sitting on my doorstep! The Winter 2023/2024 Walmart Beauty Box showed up early for the 3rd season in a row, and I couldn't wait to see just what kind of fun treats were included inside. Read below to find out just what this season's box had in store.

This quarter we received a pamphlet detailing the self-care collection offered for winter. With over 12 different options listed, you are guaranteed to receive six great finds. Being a mix of skin care, hair care, and make-up, the choices were rounded out quite well, but just what size items did they send?

Tangle Teezer Detangling Hairbrush - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $12.97

How cute is this detangling brush?! Not only is it Barbie pink, but the bristles are firm, yet gentle, unlike some detangling brushes. Nice in size, it measures in at about 2.6" X 8.7" and has an easy-to-grip handle. Proven to gently untangle hair and cause less damage than other brushes, it seriously just glides right through wet hair. Made for straight to curly hair, this tool is very versatile, and super exciting to receive as the retail price is almost double the cost of the box! Yay!

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion 1 oz. - Estimated Value $0.75

My mom has used Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion for as long as I can remember, so receiving a travel size bottle of this stuff is a win for me. With only a slight oaty scent, it is very light and really does moisturize. I love this particular brand because it tends to not be greasy, and to not irritate overly dry skin. Highly needed in the winter, I thought about sticking this small version in my mom's stocking, but decided to put it in my purse instead as my hands are already starting to look like the Cryptkeeper!

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $5.00

I gotta say, receiving a second full size item in this season's box was pretty exciting, especially when it was a lip exfoliator! My lips get sooo chapped in the winter and I absolutely despise that broken skin feeling. While I have experience with other lip exfoliators, I have never had one come in a lipstick tube, so I was excited to give it a try. Brown in color, it applies colorless, and smells absolutely divine. Scrubbing your lips together with a brown sugar mixture is so sweet and a little tasty, all while really bringing dry lippys back to life. Another win with this <so far> amazing box!

CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Ink - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $6.97

I have to say, I am really impressed with the items sent so far. I am a black eyeliner girl, but for the past 10 years, I have gone to straight liquid liner. Bringing me back to my teens, I gave this gel crayon a try, and actually was surprised by how well it held up! Easy to apply, and great to smudge out with the smudging tool, this created a really lovely smokey eye, all while not smearing or running. With a clean formula, and lasting up to 24 hours, I am happy to have tried this, as it is a fraction of the cost of the liquid eyeliner I currently use!

EOS Shea Butter Hand Cream - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $10.00

The last item we received was yet ANOTHER full-sized item! I am astonished at the products in this box! EOS is familiar to me, but I hadn't tried this particular hand cream before. With a soft vanilla scent, it rubs in nicely, isn't greasy, and absorbs quickly. EOS skin care products use wild grown, sustainably-sourced, 100% natural shea butter and are paraben, phthalate and gluten free. This was a decent size bottle and was the perfect size for my desk at school. Say goodbye to dry hands, because I will be moisturized everywhere I go!

Verdict

With an extra-early winter delivery, I was pleasantly surprised to see Walmart Beauty Box on my doorstep. I admit, I really had my fingers crossed for the Sally Hansen Perfect Manicure Press-on Nail Kit before I took a peek at my items, but was very satisfied with what I received. The one oddity I would like to point out, is the fact that the pamphlet mentioned we would receive at least six picks, and I received five. Because 4 out of the 5 were full-sized, I am happy with this box, but did this happen to others too? Overall, I utilized every product included and was really excited about the brush, lip exfoliator, and eyeliner. With this curation, I am already excited to see what they will have up their sleeve for the spring quarter!

What did you think of the winter box? Did you get the same variation, or something different?

Birchbox has started shipping in blue boxes. I always think I got my Walmart box and then find out it’s Birchbox. Ugh!

Received the Winter 2023 Walmart Beauty Box, Version 5 in mid-December. Includes Sally Hansen Perfect Manicure press-on nails in Rose and Shine, Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Ink gel eye pencil in Matte Jet Black, Wet and Wild Color Icon powder blush in Pearlescent Pink. all full size. Samples are No7 Future Renew Serum (.16 oz) and Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion (1 oz). Not a bad haul, although the nails are too big for my small hands. The color of nails and blush are a close match, a little pinker than my photo but still orangier than I prefer. Total worth probably close to $20 at retail, so not nearly as nice as those mentioned here. Gave most away in holiday gift stocking stuffers. Just got charged for the spring box, so we’ll see if I remain subscribed.

Several of the items in my pamphlet were different and the box had a sticker with “V2” on it. Maybe version 2?? The pamphlet did mention receiving 6 items, but I only received 5. I did get the full-size Slick Flick, teeth whitening pen and a Wet n Wild loose highlighting powder. The other two products were sample sizes. But no foil packets and I will use everything. Overall, not bad.

I get 2 boxes, and they were identical. Very disappointed.

I really was disappointed this time.. I did get 5 items.. I wish I had gotten that brush instead of the teeth whitening pen.. I have crowns and I am not sure I can even use this and it doesn’t really say much about it other on the front that it whitens without sensitivity on the front of the box and then then on the back of the box it says to discontinue use if your teeth are sensitive too it. ?? Thinking about canceling.. I haven’t been very happy with the box lately and with the price increase I don’t think it has value anymore for me.

I have not received mine yet but I’m really hoping for the pink brush and the teeth whitening pens! 🤞🏼

I also received 5 items, but none of them listed here. (Note-the booklet lists full size prices, it doesn’t mean we got the full-sized item) Mine were: Wet n Wild blush-dark peach color, Kristin Ess Dry Air creme (small tube), Soap and Glory body lotion (travel size most likely-not the full-size tub), a teeth whitening pen and skin flick pen eyeliner (full sized) Very grateful no IV tubes were included!

Mine was almost the same as yours, MzB! If it had been as shown above, I wouldn’t have cancelled. BTW, I needed help to cancel. It wasn’t done through Walmart’s usual home page; I had to go to BeautyBox.Walmart.com. I think that was it… Once I got that link, it was a straightforward process.

I, too, received the same 5, not 6. I thought it was a great box, though.
