Don’t Mess With The Bull - Dry Shampoo

I’m a huge fan of dry shampoo, though I’ve only used the spray-on kind before receiving this cute little container. This style of dry shampoo is a powder that you sprinkle onto your roots, then blend in. I tried it and it worked fantastically well; even on third day hair! There is a full size available, but this mini is the perfect size for travel or your gym bag.
Did I mention that it smells amazing? Well, it does! According to Fortune Cookie Soap, FCS, for short, the scent is:
“Clean notes of bergamot blossom, golden amber and sandalwood blend with peach nectar and whipped sugar.”
We’re All Pretty Bizarre - Whipped Cream

Yay for a container of whipped cream! I love when Fortune Cookie Soap includes one in their boxes. If you’re new to FCS, whipped cream is a thick, rich body butter that dries quickly and hydrates well. According to the FCS, the scent has:
“Unique notes of pink jasmine, pineapple nectar, green apple and honeydew melon.”
If you love this month’s scents, and whipped creams, as much as I do, you might want to consider the sampler of minis. It’s sold out at the moment, but FCS often re-stocks popular items, so use their “out of stock” notification feature if you’re interested. Plus they have CYO (create your own) events where you can order items in any scent they’ve ever made or literally create your own blend!
Sincerely Yours - Shimmer Perfume - Retail Value $10.95

I’ll be honest, I prefer spray-on perfumes, but I love this scent so much that I don’t mind applying to my pulse points, instead. I might, however, save it to mix into a container of FCS’s unscented whipped cream.
It’s described as a “shimmer perfume” so I was a little worried. I feel I’m too old to pull off anything too sparkly (other than eyeshadow - bring on the shimmer, then!). While it’s shimmery in the bottle, it doesn’t really leave much shimmer on the skin. I applied it to my fingers and took a photograph for you to see. There isn't a noticeable shimmer, especially once it dried. There’s no glitter in it, just mica, so anyone, sparkle fan or not, can enjoy it.
But the most important thing is that it smells amazing! According to FCS, the scent of this shimmer perfume is:
“A perfectly imperfect mix of ruby cassis, ripe pineapple, sweet rose blossoms and dewy fresh air.”
What Ruckus? - Laundry Scent Booster

This next item is a nice addition to this month’s box. It’s a scent booster (not a laundry detergent); mix 1 to 2 tablespoons in with your regular detergent for great smelling clothes. FCS has given a good amount of it so it should last for several loads of laundry. They have a full size version that I’ll be looking at, as well as an actual laundry detergent. I plan to use them together for the full scent effect!
According to FCS, the scent is:
"An aromatic combination of floral and woodsy notes blend with rich, sweet, patchouli and long lasting musk.”
I have to say that I really do love this scent; it has a lot of my favorite scent notes. All of them, actually!
Eat My Shorts - Booty Scrub

Do you ever read something too quickly and realize later that your brain filled in the wrong word? I did that with this little jar. I thought it was a body scrub. It wasn’t until I was mistakenly using it as such, that I correctly read that it’s a “booty scrub!” Which now makes its scent name, “Eat My Shorts,” make perfect sense!
Booty or body, it works equally well. While it’s not my favorite scent in the box (mainly because some are stellar) it does smell nice. According to FCS, the scent:
"...smells of warm amber and coconut milk, citrus, and palm notes with a dark base of teakwood and musk.”
Saturday Detention - Fortune Cookie Soap - Retail Value $4.25

Behold, the quarterly return of the fortune cookie soap! And I’m thrilled to see it. Or rather, to smell it. The scent is incredible and by far my favorite in the box. According to FCS, the scent, a:
"...fruity-floral blend is warmed with vanilla, amber and smooth sandalwood….”
It smells so good that I almost don’t want to use it; I’m tempted to leave it in its wrapper and put it in my dresser drawer to fragrance my clothes!
Don’t You Forget About Me - Sticker - Retail Value $1.99
Each month, FCS makes a few small stickers that fit the theme. They put one in each box they send out. This month, the sticker I received was a cutout of a silhouette of the character John Bender, with “Don’t You Forget About Me” emblazoned on it. It’s adorable; I love the cutout shape and hope FCS will do it more often.

The Verdict
The August box is a knock out of the park, home run for me! I love the scent of everything and the variety of products is fantastic. Plus, though most of these are labeled as deluxe samples, FCS is very generous with the amount they give of each item.
If you’re a fan of “The Breakfast Club” or just fresh, clean scents, you’re going to need to peruse the entire collection of full size goodies!
I’ve been a subscriber of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box for years. I absolutely love it and look forward to each month’s collection of goodies. I’m eagerly awaiting the sign up for their famous Christmas box of festive, full-sized items. They take orders months in advance, so I know it will be soon; keep an eye out!
