First Impressions is a series that introduces and reviews new brands to My Subscription Addiction, drawing from readers' requests for an insider's first look. Interested in seeing more reviews from this brand, or have another box in mind that you'd like to see reviewed? Let us know in the comments.

kidpik is a seasonal clothing subscription for kids sizes 2-16. You can choose to have a box delivered every 4, 6, or 12 weeks and all designs are unique to kidpik so you can’t find these pieces and accessories anywhere else. There is no styling fee, returns are free, and if you keep your entire box, you get a 30% discount on your items.

Because Hank isn't a common name for boys these days, my son hasn't had the pleasure of getting a personalized pencil or bike license plate. This led him to be really shocked (and excited) to see his name printed on the box waiting to be opened by the one and only! Hooray!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

kidpik June Review

When you sign up, they ask you a few questions related to your child's size and style preferences. Clothing sizes range from 2 to 16 and shoes range from Toddler 7 to Youth 6. You can choose multiple style preferences, colors, and designs, and opt out of things as well. It's very customizable!

When you check out, you have the option to return, exchange or donate the items for free using the postage-paid envelope they provided. This process is very easy and quick. Once the items are sealed inside the bag, place it in your mailbox with the flag up, and off they go!

Inside our box, there was a pamphlet with a thank you note on the front and kidpik's contact and social media info on the back. Also provided is information on exactly how the checkout process works along with our invoice. Our total came to $171.36 for all 8 items, but with the 30% discount for keeping all items, the total comes to $119.77. That's a savings of $51.59 on these items if we choose to keep everything.

Bandana Pocket Tee - Retail Value $19.80 (30% off Price $13.86)

Made from 100% jersey cotton, this ultra-soft sea blue shirt is simple yet stated as it features a bandana print pocket. With multiple color options, this comfy tee is bound to be a must have for daily wear.

If you can't tell by the smiles, Hank loved this bandana shirt. His first comments were about how soft the fabric was against his skin and how well it fit. He is 10 years old, around 80 pounds and 58" tall. We set his sizing at 12 for tops, and it lists that as a size large. The size and fit was perfect, and he really liked the understated look of the printed pocket. Perfect for business or play, this paired great with jeans, but would also look snazzy with some tan cargo pants. Versatile and handsome, this shirt was definitely a winner.

Piece Stripe Swim Trunk in Lemon Drop - Retail Value $22.80 (30% off Price $15.96)

Just in time for summer, one of Hank's picks was this bright pair of striped swim trunks. With an elastic waist band and draw string, these polyester trunks feature a mesh boxer attached and a velcro back pocket. Stylish in design and 30 SPF, these shorts were not only cool, but comfy too.

Thinking back, I don't know if Hank has ever had a brand new pair of swim trunks. Being handed down a few pairs from cousins, this I believe is his first very own, and he loved them. Complimenting the perfect fit of the elastic, these tied easily and Hank said were very comfortable. Sent in a size 12, these trunks are very true to size. We both liked the bright colors and stripes, especially the extra blue piping. Handsome and functional, this was a great piece to send especially as it is going to be in the 90s this week!

Making Waves Tee - Retail Value $17.80 (30% Off Price $12.46)

Perfectly suited to the color theme of this months box was the addition of this red "Making Waves" tee. At first glance, this looks quite simple, but check out that extra stitching! Hank really enjoyed the abstract wave design, and though some of the waves were pink in color, thought it was super cool and wore it to his first day of woodworking camp. Like the blue shirt, this too was extra soft in feel and fit like a dream.

Also received in a size 12 (L), this shirt fit perfectly and Hank was happy to see it not only matched the jeans, but the swim trunks as well. Hank really likes a balance of "coolness" and "comfiness" when it comes to his clothing choices, and so far this stylist has nailed it!

Straight Jeans - Retail Value $32.80 (30% Off Price $22.96)

Jeans are an everyday staple in our household, so both Hank and I were pleased to see this inclusion. In soft, super stretch denim, the jeans came in a size 12 and shark wash color. Because Hank prefers a straight leg, these were perfect, especially because they have the elastic tighteners. Hank generally wears a 12 slim, but because that wasn't a sizing option, decided to try the regular 12. While they were too big in the waist, we stretched the elastic ties and added a belt for a fine fit. Length wise, these were perfect, and they buttoned and zipped easily and securely.

Both Hank and I loved these jeans. Between the wash, the pocket design, and the softness, these are exactly what Hank looks for in a pair of jeans. He also commented on how appreciative he is that kidpik clothes are tagless, so nothing is tickling or itching from the inside. So far after a few washes, these jeans still look brand new, so I'm a happy mama!

Engineered Stripe Polo - Retail Value $24.80 (30% Off Price $17.36)

Made from 95% cotton and 5% spandex, this "handsome" shirt was also very soft. I like when my kids dress up, especially when going to church and on holidays, so you can bet Hank will be wearing this to our 4th of July celebrations. Thicker in feel and softer then traditional polos, Hank liked the color and addition of the stripes. It really brings out his blue eyes! Machine washable, this shirt washed and dried nicely and is ready for the upcoming parade.

At 10, Hank still lets me have a bit of say when it comes to his clothes, and he takes my considerations into account. So far, no coaxing has been needed because he literally has loved every item sent all on his own. And the fits have been great. Not too big, not too small, and really nice quality, we are so far very impressed!

Rope Bracelet - Retail Value $3.50 (30% Off Price $2.45)

Hank is starting to want to express himself through accessories like some of the older kids at our K-12 school, so he was really excited to receive this nylon rope bracelet. Featured in the color theme this box has been curated around, it is adjustable with the pull of the rope ends and matches all of the included outfits. A fun inclusion that Hank was surprisingly into.

Because this bracelet is adjustable, it fits a variety of wrist sizes. Hank mentioned that it fit comfortably and he really liked the iridescent blue coloring. Similar to paracord in design, this is a neat "cool guy" accessory that has been worn everyday since we received the box.

Retro Sneaker - Retail Value $29.80 (30% Off Price $20.86)

Sneakers are a tough sell for Hank as he can literally name every basketball shoe design out there. (Seriously, at our basketball tournaments this year, he was spot-on with almost every single player.) That being said, he really liked the style and look of these kidpik-designed sneakers. Featured in blue and white, these have a bit of an older style, and Hank was all about it. Clean and crisp, the man-made materials were really soft and easy to wear. Pairing perfectly with all of this month's included shirts, these are very versatile and held up well even during an impromptu baseball practice. While the color may get dirty easily, these are really sharp shoes that Hank was surprisingly impressed with. For reference, Hank generally wears a size 4.5 in boys shoes. We sized up as he is growing and ordered a 5. They are a bit big, but still wearable, hopefully for a long time!

Check out these sporty kicks, matching Hank's eyes the stitching was sturdy and even, and the shoe itself was designed nicely and fits comfortably. Another win for this month! (A good thing too because Hank just outgrew his other casual sneakers!)

Logan Stripe Pocket Tee - Retail Value $19.80 (30% Off Price $13.86)

The last item chosen for Hank in this month's kidpik was this striped pocket tee. Simple and classic in design, this cotton and spandex tee features a handsome stripe pattern with a light blue pocket. Blue is one of Hank's favorite colors and the way it makes his eye pop is striking so he wears it often. With red and white stripes this shirt is perfect for the upcoming 4th of July holiday and is in the running for the fireworks being held that evening. Pairing well with jeans, shorts, and tan pants, this was another win that can be utilized in a casual manner, or dressed up.

Again fitting perfectly, the size 12 was a perfect choice. With a little growing room, Hank was a fan of the stripes and was happy to see this too matched the included shoes. Soft and stretchy, Hank commented on how comfy this shirt is to wear, especially because there are no itchy tags. Another amazing find in this months box!

The Verdict

Honestly, when I signed up for kidpik I wasn't sure what to expect. Would Hank like the clothes chosen for him? Would the quality be there? Would sizing be an issue? How do returns work? Well, we quickly discovered this month hit it out of the park. Hank loved all of the clothes, the quality was great (seriously, the tee shirts had neater stitching and were thicker than super spendy name brands), sizing was right on par with most other clothes he owns, and while we didn't utilize the return feature this month, read in the FAQ section of the website that it is super easy with the included envelope. That paired with the fact that we live 45 miles from the nearest store besides Walmart, and we've literally hit a home run.

Since the keep-all price is $119.77, that gives each of the 8 items an average cost of $14.97 which is a bit lower than their listed average of $15.00 per piece, and for the convenience and success we had with this box, find it definitely worth it. Since the styling fee is free, there's no risk in giving it a try, either! Overall, we found this box amazing and can't wait to see what is in store for next month.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? kidpik curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what season it is. You might get something that fits your son's style even better than the items that we received.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $0 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $171.36. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if we keep all 8 items, then we get a 30% discount. This would bring the price down to $119.77 for the 8 items, which is an average of $14.97 per item.
