Fortune Cookie Soap offers a monthly subscription box for $19.95 ($16.95 for those who subscribed before 11/13/22). Each box contains 1 full and 3 deluxe sized items. Quarterly, though, they send out 6 deluxe-sized items. Those boxes are for quarterly months.

This, however, is the 12 Days Of Christmas box that is a limited edition holiday box which doesn’t renew. 12 full size items are individually wrapped and dated, to be opened from December 14th to Christmas.

This box was paid for by the author. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

The 12 Days Of Christmas box’s theme is called: "Letters To Santa" and is based on the 2019 movie “Klaus.”

Included in the box is an insert with each scent description, a blank postcard to Santa and a Fortune Cookie Soap pen. Editor's note: this box did not list retail values for each individual item.

 Warning: Full Spoilers Ahead!

Dear Santa…I tried!

December 14th: Snail Mail Perfume Oil

The first gift in this 12 day box of goodies is a large bottle of perfume oil. It has a roll-on applicator which I love for traveling. If roll-ons aren’t your thing, you can pop the roller ball off and pour the oil into a diffuser or other bath products. Fortune Cookie Soap, FCS, for short, sells a line of fragrance-free items that they call, “Naked.” They’re specifically made for you to add any favorite FCS fragrance oil that you have. Tip: really love the scents from a particular box? Each month you’re able to buy the set of fragrance oils used in it. I save those and mix them into these “Naked” items!

As for this bottle of “Snail Mail” fragrance oil, according to FCS, the scent is:

“Refreshing citrus and crisp bergamot intertwine with sweet passionfruit, delicate jasmine and lotus petals, warm musk and golden amber.”

Soft, lovely and a great start to the countdown to Christmas!

December 15th: Woodman’s Cabin Soy Wax Drops

Yay for scented wax drops! I have two rambunctious kitties so I don’t burn candles; which many subscription boxes include. These festive drops went right into my warmer: heaven! I’m not a fan of really sweet, foodie scents but this one beautifully balances sweet with a warm, woodsy scent.

According to the FCS, the scent is

“...warm mcintosh apples, delicate rose petals and creamy vanilla drifts through this rustic cabin, while whispers of cinnamon sugar and rich honey….”

December 16th: Naughty List Lip Gloss

This lip gloss really sparkles! It’s a festive red shade, but I’m neither a red nor a gloss wearer so my 15 year old niece is super excited to try it!

Of the scent, FCS says:

“Refreshing mint intermingles with sweet vanilla….”

December 17th: A True Act Of Goodwill Deep Muscle Cooling Gel

This muscle cooling gel is probably my favorite item in this box! When I saw the shape of the container, I thought that maybe it would be a face mask. And while I’d love one of those, this muscle pain relieving gel is even better. I have psoriatic arthritis and the weather is cold, so I hurt. I am so thrilled to have another tool to fight pain.

I opened this box in front of my mom, and she has terrible arthritis in her feet, so she was also eager to try it out. Let me tell you, when they say muscle cooling gel, they’re not kidding! It feels freezing on your skin, but the pain is greatly diminished. I wish, since it’s cold outside, that FCS would make a muscle warming pain relieving gel too. HINT, HINT!

A really nice bonus is that, unlike many muscle pain relieving creams, it smells good! FCS describes the scent as:

“Fresh, crisp notes of peppermint and eucalyptus peacefully blend with scents of sweet cotton candy, caramel and raspberry jam.”

December 18th: The Battle Bell Bath Bomb

This bath bomb is beautiful! The 3D bell shape and shimmer make it something I’d be happy to display! It’s one of the few items in this box that I’ve decided to give as a gift. As gorgeous as it is, I read the scent description and it’s not really my cup of tea.

FCS describes the scent as:

“Tart cranberries, juicy apples blend together with orange peel, freshly made cinnamon sugared donuts, topped with warm southern pecans smothered in rich maple syrup.”

I’m not a fan of foodie or sweet scents. The bath bomb is shrink-wrapped so I can’t describe the scent myself, but judging by the description, I’ve decided not to open it; it’s actually going in my dad’s Christmas stocking. You read that right: my dad! He’s declared himself official tester of unwanted bath bombs. Hey, self-care is for everyone!

December 19th: Signed. Sealed. Delivered Cuticle Oil

Seeing the packaging, I was expecting another gloss but was pleasantly surprised to find a cuticle oil pen! I have other containers of cuticle oil from FCS and I love how well it hydrates. The previous ones were in little nail polish style bottles, so this pen is a definite step up. It’s much easier to carry than a glass bottle and has an easy to use applicator.

The scent of this oil is described as:" …roasted chestnuts, caramel, rich butter, brown sugar and vanilla.” It’s a bit too sweet for me, so my bestie (and fellow nail polish addict) will find this in her stocking! Shhh!

December 20th: Magic Of Christmas Fortune Cookie Soap

It wouldn’t be a FCS box without a fortune cookie soap! As usual, it fits the theme and is too pretty to use! I put this one on display in my guest bathroom. But it smells so good that I’ll definitely be using it after Christmas. FCS describes the scent as:

“...sparkling fresh and joyous mixture of sweet orange, winter pear and a hint of rosemary….”

The fortune inside the soap cookie has a phrase from the movie, “Klaus.” On the other side is the name of the fragrance and a bible verse. I looked it up and I like it: Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” I think that’s something that everyone, no matter your faith, can embrace!

December 21st: This Is Tradition Exfoliating Body Wash

I love this body wash! It has a really neat, jelly consistency that contains exfoliating microbeads. So it’s a combination of body wash and body scrub: perfect idea! And of course, it smells fantastic! FCS describes the scent as:

“A mixture of juicy plums and whipped caramel cream blend effortlessly with artisan bourbon vanilla and jasmine blossoms.”

Plus, it’s pretty much my favorite color, ever!

December 22nd: Lousy Lump Of Coal Laundry Fragrance Oil

Introducing my favorite scent in the box, a:

“...warm blend of rich red mahogany woods, delicious apple, pink peppercorn and fresh lavender sprigs.”

This is a newer type of item to FCS. It’s a set of 8 wool balls and a bottle of fragrance oil. Add a few drops of oil to each ball, let them absorb the oil, then toss in your dryer with your clothes. The result will have you sniffing your clothes all day!

December 23rd: Eat Our Snow! Deep Conditioner

In November’s box, we received a deluxe size reconstructive conditioner; it was wonderful so I’m thrilled to try this (full size) deep conditioner. Cold weather can rob our hair of moisture so including a deep conditioner was a great idea. And, it smells amazing! Use after any shampoo for moisture and a lovely scented mane. FCS lists the scent as:

“Exotic apricots and fresh verbena, are followed by soothing orchid petals, pink amber, and white woods.”

December 24th: A Truce Facial Cleansing Cream

Christmas Eve’s goody is a product that seems to be new to FCS; it’s a facial cleansing cream. I found it to be a very gentle way to cleanse my skin. The scent isn’t very strong, which I like, since it’s going directly on my face. FCS describes the scent as:

“Silky almond milk blends smoothly with tangerine slices, creamy coconut, and heartwarming chai.”

December 25th: Snow Swirls Body Frosting

I was surprised that there wasn’t a whipped cream in the box, since FCS makes the best body cream I’ve tried, but I’m happy to find body frosting! There was a deluxe body frosting in November’s box and I’ve been using it like crazy; so I’m happy to have a full size container. I’d describe body frosting as a cross between body butter and dry body oil. It has a frosting-like consistency that melts into your skin leaving it feeling hydrated and smelling great!

The scent name is “Snow Swirls” so it’s nice to see the ribbons of frosting swirling between blue and white. It looks lovely and smells even nicer! FCS describes the scent as:

“...pear and apple swirl around you with cinnamon blossoms, rich plums and soothing sandalwood….”

The Verdict

Overall, this is a fantastic box! I’ll use just about everything in it; and what I don’t, I have recipients very happy to. When I first saw the price, $86.74 (with shipping), I was a little worried. It seemed like a lot of money. But considering you receive 12 full size products, it’s actually a really good value. And opening each (adorably wrapped) item was like a Christmas gift to myself! I really considered opening each on their assigned day, to get in on the 12 days of fun, but I really wanted to share this review with all of you as soon as possible!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today?  No, this is not a recurring box, and it is sold out. For these limited edition boxes (Christmas, Easter and Halloween), FCS sells them as a pre-order that goes on sale months in advance of the holiday release.

Happily, Fortune Cookie Soap offers a monthly mini box. Sign up quickly, though, because there is a waiting list. Once you’re on the waiting list, you’ll be contacted when there is a spot open, and you’ll be given 24 hours to claim your spot.

Value Breakdown: The box costs $74.99 (plus $11.75 shipping), which means each of the 12 items (excluding the pen) cost an average of about $7.23 each. Considering these are full size items, that’s a fabulous value! Plus, with every box, you’ll be mailed a code for $10 off any order of $35 or more to be used on any items in their vast store.
