Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson, which includes a plus-size line of their fashionable workout gear! You can shop their line in two different ways—either you can shop through their regular store or sign up as a VIP member.

The cost is $49.95 a month, which goes towards the cost of the outfits curated for you. Outfit cost varies, but you’ll only be charged for what you choose to actually buy.

Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, you are not automatically sent a package each month. You have to go into your account and either decide to add items to your cart or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call Fabletics customer service to do so.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

Fabletics Plus Size YITTY Shapewear Review

This month is such a treat because it was all be pieces from the new YITTY line by Lizzo for Fabeltics!

I will be reviewing the  Mesh Me Smoothing Midi Top, Mesh Me Smoothing High Waist Shorts, Nearly Naked Shaping Midi Bra, Nearly Naked Shaping Ultra High Waist Short, and the Nearly Naked Shaping Ultra High Waist Brief. All of the pieces can be found on the YITTY site (yellow bra and briefs aren't on the site, but other colors are available) and you can use Fabletics credits on them as well.

Mesh Me Smoothing Midi Top in Neon Pink P***y Buttafly, Size 4x, Retail Value $64.95 (VIP Price $49.95)

When I first heard that Lizzo was releasing the YITTY brand, this piece was one of the first that I knew I had to try out! I loved all the warm tones of pink, yellow, and orange with mixes of lavender. I went on the site the day of release and scooped this piece and a variety of others to review for yinz. The one sad thing I found was the limited bundled outfits, at least in the styles I wanted to try together. I also made sure to read the size guide too and I a VERY glad I did. It was noticeable comparing the YITTY sizing to Fabletics that there was a difference. YITTY offers up to a 5x, even a 6x in some items, but the complaint among many eager potential customers was that the sizing wasn't true to the Fabletics brand and other plus size options like SuperFit Hero that goes up to a 7x or a size 42. I was glad I did my homework and got the size 4x or else I would have had to make a return/exchange. This particular piece is available in up to a 6x.

Back onto the subject of this smoothing top. I optioned to wear it sans a sports bra or any additional support to give you a true feel for the fit. The top is a mesh material, but has extra coverage in the chest to avoid exposure. I definitely feel comfortable in this top. If you are looking for lift, you will get some, but not as much as if you were wearing an actual bra. It definitely keeps you secure though and like most shapewear, it was a bit of a workout to get on-- I think my FitBit counted it as such with every piece in this review! I do love this top and would wear it out and about this summer! It looks great with the matching shorts, but I would love to wear this with some overall shorts and sneakers too! I styled it with the matching mesh shorts from Yitty as well as platform sandals from Torrid and earrings from Miss60sShop on Etsy to tie it all together!

These shorts have such a bold and exciting look, but provide ample support and comfort. Yes, they are shapewear and are snug, but I didn't feel constricted like in some brands. I love the length on these-- there will be no chub rub in these whatsoever. These shorts are truly high waisted, too. I have a short enough torso that the top and bottoms meet at the same point and give me the look of wearing a one piece, which I am not mad about! I love it with the matching top, but this could easily be worn with the yellow bra and a t-shirt layered over it as well. These will also be great to wear under my maxi dresses during the summertime.

What a shock that I selected the yellow bra, right? I mean, how often do you see a bra in yellow and in plus sizes? Of course. I won't lie to yinz, I was alarmed when I unboxed this piece. I thought it was a training bra for a young pre-teen-- it was so tiny! I was terrified thinking of how I would get this on-- HOW?! Needless to say, you can see I did get it on my body-- but it was no easy task. I literally broke a sweat the first time getting this on my body ody ody! Once I did, I must say it is SUPER comfortable and easy to wear. The bottom, like the top I received, has a rubber silicone/rubber strip to try to keep the piece in place. I feel it was more effective on the mesh top than the bra. When I wear this bra at the midi-length, it is a bit tight and uncomfortable. When I slept in it, it did roll up, but felt more comfy. I am not sure if I should have tried the 5x? I am fearful that it may have been too loose. I was glad to see this wasn't as see through as some commenters in plus size social media groups I am on. Some complained you could see their areolas, but I didn't have that issue. It probably differs depending on skintone in that respect, but wanted to give yinz a heads up in case! Overall, I love the bra and felt comfortable enough in it to wear it outside for pictures and on errands. It smooths and gives support, but if you are seeking major lift, this isn't for you. If you are looking for a bra that is comfortable like a sports bra-- this is the ticket! I ended up styling the bra with the matching shorts, Torrid platforms, and earrings made by moi!

When I worked in Torrid in the early/mid 00s, I wore a lot of SPANX. Since then, I rarely wear shapewear. I think getting more involved in the Body Positive/Neutrality and Fat Acceptance communities made me feel like I needed them less, but that doesn't mean I am completely opposed to shapewear. I am all for wearing what feels right to you and makes YOU feel comfortable and beautiful. I was excited to give these shorts a go to see how they felt compared to my SPANX shorts of yore. They are similar, but I feel as though these give a slight bit more coverage. I do have the briefs in the same color layered under these and a pair of nude underwear as well. I think if I had less layers on, these would be far more transparent. You may have been seeing a lot more of my booty than I would prefer. These are shapewear and have a slit in the crotch for bathroom use like a lot of brands do if you are not wearing other layered items with other undergarments. These, similar to the bra, looked itty bitty once I unboxed them. I had the same anxiety wondering if I would get these bad boys on, but luckily they got on and fit rather well. Though these were brutal to get on, I didn't feel uncomfortably encased like some other shapewear. I could definitely see myself wearing them as I am modeling them as well as under pieces to prevent chub rub and if I want a smoothing effect.

Okay, so I am sure you are thinking, why aren't there pictures of you in the briefs? I didn't feel completely comfortable modeling the panties outside with my father taking pictures, so I opted to just post the unboxed picture of the briefs. These are made from the same uber-stretchy material as the coordinating bra and shorts. The briefs are high in the waist, but not ultra high. Rather comfortable and don't seem to to move into my butt crack like some underwear does-- big bottomed friends, you know the trials and tribulations I am talking about! I do, however, wish the front portion had a bit more coverage. For a woman that prefers granny panties, these don't provide all the coverage I personally prefer.

Verdict

This month's Fabletics pieces were so fun to review! Each piece was so bold, and fun! this is the first YITTY release and I am eager to see what Lizzo does next with the line. The fit on each piece was decent, but I still wish they had offered more bundled sets. The price is pretty on point with what a lot of shapewear companies charge, but I think it would be a smart move to provide more outfits that you can use Fabletics member credits towards. My other grievance is their sizing. I am ecstatic that they offer a 6x, but I hope they try to make their fit more like competitors or even closer to that of the Fabletics brand itself, but up to a 6x or even a 7x. I want to ensure all bodacious babes have access to these pieces, and I know inclusivity is always a goal for Lizzo. All grievances aside, I am ultimately super pleased with my selections from the YITTY brand. I love this collaboration, it is a total dream! Fabletics has been on a trajectory to make sure their quality pieces are made for all bodies and I only see things going up and up with the brand, especially with this collaboration. I am a huge Lizzo and Fabletics fan, so this union is one that is so dreamy for me! I think if Fabletics and YITTY take in all the feedback their fans are providing on the brand, it can only get better. I will definitely suggest the brand to all my friends, just consult the size chart before placing any orders!  Do you love Fabletics and YITTY as much as I do? Are you eager to see what I get next month too?

Great review as always, Nicole! That buttafly print is lovely. How did you find the breathability of the fabric? I also used to wear more shapewear back in the day but stopped largely due to comfort and changing priorities. Lately I’ve been thinking it might be nice to have some fuller-coverage undergarments to wear under sheer things for modesty and a pop of color, but only if they’re very comfy!

Thank you, Claudia. In my experience, I felt pretty comfortable in all the fabrics. I have heard a lot of folks compare it to skims for the yellow set material, but I have never tried skims and don’t intend to tbh. So, I can’t vouch for that. The Buttafly is a mesh material, but felt fairly easy to wear. I can come back to this if I wear any of these in the hot weather we have been getting currently too! The weather war warm, but compared to a day like today that is 89 or 90 degrees, it was comparatively mild.
