Lip Monthly March 2020 Review

Our March note is so cute! It looks like this month's goodies are meant to help us transition into spring!

Each month, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag which is just a bit bigger than an iPhone Plus (although not quite big enough to fit one inside).  The bags are usually a soft fabric, but this month's bag is a bit more durable and has a waxy coating on the inside which means it will wipe clean easily! The cherry design is cute, too!

Steve Laurant Lip Oil in Orchid - Retail Value $18.00

This is a familiar brand and one that I have been pleased with in the past. I love the cute gold lid with clear pink gloss! This color is actually called orchid and while it is tinted in the tube, it just provided a normal shine to my lips with no noticeable color. While this is a lip oil, I found it to be pretty thick and sticky, more like a gloss consistency.

Cougar Beauty Products Perfect Pout Volume & Shape - Retail Value $18.36 (£14.99)

This product is supposed to give your lips volume and shape and wow does it burn! It feels smooth going on, but the intensity ramps up pretty quickly and while I do think it volumized my lips, it was much too intense for me. It has vitamin E along with capsicum annuum (chili pepper) resin and peppermint which are supposedly what contributes to the tingling (burning!) sensation.

So here you can see the progression. The top left is my bare lip, top right is a swipe of gloss. Bottom left is after a few minutes, and bottom right is after way too many minutes where all my senses were burning. Hence the pained expression! 🤣 Needless to say, this was not for me!

IBY Beauty Velour Liquid Lipstick in Berry Berry - Retail Value $12.00 (I was only able to find this color in a set, but I linked to what the single lippies go for!)

This lip gloss dries down quickly to more of a matte stain for me and it's got a lot of pigment. I really like the color, although it's a bit dark if I overapply it. It actually didn't last as long as I thought it would on my lips, but it wore comfortably. This formula is vegan and gluten-free, as well as paraben and sulfate-free.

Here it is on. A pretty color!

Here is with a swipe of the Steve Laurant lip oil on top which really makes the berry pigment pop!

Jing Ai Skin Velvet Shine Lip Jewel in Pink Star - Retail Value $14.00

This is my favorite product this month. This lip crayon is paraben-free and contains shea butter making it feel moisturizing to my lips. The color is great for spring with just a bit of a shine to it and it surprisingly had a lot of staying power. Plus the crayon makes it easy to apply and shape your lips.

Here it is on. Just the right tint of pink for me!

Here it is with some lip oil over it which makes it shine a bit more!

Swatched from top to bottom we have the Steve Laurant, the IBY, and the Jingai.

Verdict: I like that they switched up the bag for this month's Lip Monthly delivery! The products inside were great for transitioning into spring. I really liked the shades of the two colored products I received and the lip oil, while a bit sticky, is pretty hydrating and worked well over the colors for some added shine. While I was not a fan of the Perfect Pout product, I think it was still a good choice and hopefully others who aren't as sensitive to products like that will find it useful! The total retail value of our products comes to $62.36 which is great for a $12.95/month subscription and well over their promised value of $50+!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Do not subscribe to this! You will never be able to cancel. Read the BBB reviews! I don’t know how this got started. I did NOT order this sub. No idea how I am paying for it at this point. I am waiting to see what credit card it shows up on.😩😡

The Berry Berry and Pink Star are so pretty! They look fantastic on you! I also can’t stand lip-plumping products. I had one that was OK, but the one that was included in the recent Target lip box hurt so bad. I had to throw it out. I never notice my lips looking more plump anyway!

They recycled the cherry bag from when I was subscribed like 3 yrs ago. It’s cute and durable.

The products in it are different, don’t worry.

While I was a subscribed over 2 yrs, we ended up receiving two different Jing Ai sticks, and they were my all-time favorite items. They feel so good on.

I thought that bag looked familiar! I have that bag too from when I was subbed a while ago. I always thought Lip Monthly had such cute bags every month… one of the reasons I tried to re-sub a couple of years ago, but my account was wonky when I tried to re-sub and I didn’t feel like dealing with their CS, so I gave up, and never subbed again. 🙁

Nice and comprehensive review! I have been curious about this subscription for a long time, but it doesn’t seem to feature the type of lip products that I prefer.

Thanks! They do switch up the types of products they feature each month usually. If you haven’t checked out my past reviews, that might help! 🙂 What type of products do you like?

Those lip plumpers are not for me. I can’t stand the burn! I do love those Steve Laurant lip oils. I must be on my 5th tube.
