Little Bookish Wardrobe June 2019 Unisex Box Review
Mitford at the Hollywood Zoo by Donald Robertson - Retail Value $17.99
This book was really unique and fun! The star of our story is a giraffe named Mitford who is a very tall fashion assistant, in fact, he is the tallest ever, and one day he gets asked to help with a fashion disaster. It seems that the famous singer Rhinoana needs a dress for the Academy Zoowards and Mitford comes to the rescue. Throughout our story, he also helps some other celebrities including Meryl Sheep and Shark Whaleberg, and he ends up dressed to impress at the big awards and even gets a promotion for all his hard work. This was a silly book that parents will enjoy thanks to all of the absurdly hilarious celebrity references and kids will enjoy the illustrations and animal characters. The story was a bit clunky for me due to all of the celebrity name insertions, but it was still a fun read and definitely a different type of story than we're used to!
Each month they include a little card that provides some questions to ask your child based on the story and it also has some extension ideas such as designing some fashions for your family members. On the back is a cute little card that reads "You're a Star" and has a place for your child to put their Zooward animal star name. So cute!
Giraffe Costume
I was really impressed to find that they included a full giraffe suit in our box this month! My kids were both so excited to see this costume and I think the quality is pretty great, too. They could easily have just sent a mask and tail set, but this is so much more exciting! Plus it is really soft and cozy. My daughter already told me she wants to wear it for Halloween.
The costume has buttons up the front and it features a zipper at the back near the tail so that you can easily use the bathroom if you need to without taking the entire costume off. The sleeves and legs have elastic cuffs around them which is great to ensure a good fit for different sized children. It is pretty big on my daughter who wears a size 6x usually, but she was still comfortable in it and the way these kids grow, I'm glad to have an oversized costume as opposed to one that is too small!
Tuxedo Bib
Since Mitford got all snazzy and dressed up in our story they provided this cute tuxedo bib for us to wear with our costume. This was a cute way to add a bit of flair to our giraffe suit!
Plus it looked super cute on the baby! (This was after his messy dinner, hence, the missing shirt!)
Pink Mirrored Sunglasses
The last piece for our costume is these flashy sunglasses. They feature silver accents around the frames and along the arms, and the lenses themselves are mirrored with a pink tint. They are really fun and the plastic is actually pretty thick and not flimsy at all.
Here she is with the whole ensemble on!
Paparazzi Camera
The last item we received was this little paparazzi camera that we could color and assemble by folding it to turn it into a 3D camera. I thought this was such a cute and fun way to tie into the story!
Verdict: This was another fantastic box from Little Bookish Wardrobe that really excited my kids. The story was really unique and fun to read with all of the silly character names, and I think it was awesome of them to include a whole giraffe costume. The fact that they even included the sunglasses and tuxedo bib to help them get into character made it feel even more special. Plus, that paparazzi camera was so cute! This was definitely a complete experience in a box and considering the book alone retails for $17.99, I think that $40.99 ($32.99 a month plus $8.00 shipping) for this box feels fair!
