Bulu Box March 2019 Review

There isn’t a theme for Bulu Box and there is some personalization involved, so the contents are usually a surprise:

Bulu Box March 2019 - Booklet FrontBulu Box March 2019 - Booklet Back

Because of the variations with this subscription, there’s not a traditional information card listing the items.

There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription. They don’t always relate to the items in the box, although sometimes they do.

Bulu Box March 2019 - Artrex Cream Front

Artrex Cream (0.3 oz) – Buy 2 oz for $12.95 (found here for $10.36)

This product claims to be based in Ayurveda (essentially Indian traditional medicine) although the ingredients are mostly similar to Western herbal pain relief creams (i.e., menthol, camphor, eucalyptus). It does have turpentine in it as well, and thus it has a smell that is a bit too strong for me. It seemed to work about as well as any other product of this type, but I’d probably avoid it due to the odor.

Bulu Box March 2019 - Sun Warrior Protein Blend Choclate Front

Sun Warrior Protein Blend, Chocolate (25g x 2) – Buy 15 Servings for $23.99

This is a plant-based protein from peas, goji berries, and hemp seeds that I have had before in several subscription boxes. I am not one to drink protein shakes (I find that plant-based proteins don’t blend well in water), but what I do like to do is add some protein to my morning smoothies, and this worked nicely there. (Blending is better with other ingredients like frozen fruit as there is a thicker texture that works well with the powder.)

Bulu Box March 2019 - Sun Warrior Protein Blend Vanilla Front

Sun Warrior Protein Blend, Vanilla (25g x 2) – Buy 15 Servings for $23.99

I have essentially the same things to say about this as I do with the chocolate, though my own personal flavor preference is for the chocolate. This is not bad, though, and it’s nice to get two different kinds to try because if you don’t like one, you might still like the other.

Bulu Box March 2019 - Just Bloom Collagen Sip Spicy Front

Just Bloom Collagen Sip, Spicy Margarita (8.2g) – Buy 30 Packets for $38.95

Collagen protein is established as a way to improve the condition of skin, hair, and nails. It is becoming more popular these days and I receive something with collagen in it from one subscription box or another nearly every month. However, collagen can only come from animal sources (most industrial collagen is a byproduct of poultry or fish processing) so I was unable to try this. I will pass it along to a coworker. I have been informed that the problem with some collagen supplements is flavor, so I do think it’s a good thing that they are trying out different flavors to make their product more palatable.

Bulu Box March 2019 Lyft - Purelyft Clean Caffeine All Natural Orange Flavor Front

Purelyft Clean Caffeine All Natural Orange Flavor (0.03 oz) – Buy a 4-Stick Variety Pack for $7.97

I have received this before, also from Bulu Box. It has green coffee extract (which has antioxidants and caffeine) as well as some vitamins. I personally would not use this before a workout as it is intended because I have hypertension and do mostly cardio and that would lead to a blood pressure increase. However, sometimes I get sleepy at my desk in the afternoon, and it is a pretty good pick-me-up for those times. I think I prefer the orange flavor to the original (see below).

What I said above for the orange flavor basically applies here too. Since this has vitamin A, which is a fat-soluble vitamin, so be careful about how much vitamin A you are getting because it is possible to overdose if you are taking a multivitamin and/or consuming other vitamin A products in addition to this, since this contains the retinyl palmitate form (as opposed to beta carotene, which you can’t overdose on).

Bulu Box March 2019 - Viana Spicy Snacker Veggie Snack Sausage 1Bulu Box March 2019 - Viana Spicy Snacker Veggie Snack Sausage 2

Viana Spicy Snacker Veggie Snack Sausage (1.76 oz) – Buy 12 for $27.69

At first, I was like, “oh no, not another meat stick,” but this one is actually vegetarian (vegan, even). The primary ingredient is tofu. I shared it with my husband and he says it is not really like sausage at all (I wouldn’t know, I’ve been vegetarian since 1993). It is pretty salty and pretty spicy and works well if you cut it and eat it with cheese and crackers.

Bulu Box March 2019 - Jocko White Tea with Pomegranate Front

Jocko White Tea with Pomegranate (2 bags) – Buy 100 Bags for $24.99

If you had given this to me without any kind of label, I’d have just assumed it was an herbal tea, because it has a strong fruity flavor and the tea part is barely noticeable. (On the plus side, the lemongrass is also barely noticeable, which is great since I do not like lemongrass.) You should definitely go to the Amazon page (linked to in the product name) and read some of the product questions and answers as some of the company’s answers are quite funny.

Verdict: This month’s Bulu Box had ten samples (counting the tea bags as one item together), so they’d average about $1 each. I was very happy that most of the items were vegetarian. There’s not a real theme here, it’s basically just items that may be of use to someone who wants to live an active lifestyle (pain relief, energy supplements, protein) that you might not have discovered otherwise.

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, April would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.
