Switch 2 Pure November 2018 Review

There isn't a specific info card that details the included products, but there is a basic one that goes over how it works.

Kaia Naturals Juicy Bamboo Natural Facial Cleansing Cloth - Estimated Retail Value $0.98 (Buy a 20 pack for $19.50)

Since Switch 2 Pure also includes free samples, I'm going to chalk this up to one of those instead of a full item. There is just one here and they usually come in packs of 20 or more. This single-use cleansing cloth boasts "3-in-1" action that cleanses, tones, and moisturizes in one fell swoop (or, swipe, as it were). Made without alcohol, it won't dry out your face and contains ingredients to help restore moisture while removing makeup and dirt. This is also made of biodegradable cloth so it can be essentially composted and will "disappear" within 60-70 days.

Skiin Studio Firming & Vitalizing Bio Cellulose Signature Mask - Retail Value $8.00

It’s rare I use a sheet mask that I’m all “oh heck yea” about, but this is one of the few. It happens every once in a while, and this is one of those times. First off, getting a mask that’s on the natural side of things is lovely. This one seemed extra fancy because it had two backings on it, sandwiching it in the middle. It wasn’t cotton, but more of a gelatinous situation which turns out to be coconut jelly. It felt amazing on my face and clung to it really well so I could go about my business at work while enjoying it. I left it on for 20 minutes and the aftermath was glorious. It wasn’t all drippy with extra essence but had just enough on there to massage into my face and feel incredibly soft and dewy! I did not even feel the need to add a serum or moisturizer after this one because it didn’t dry out my face. Love love love this mask. Would use again.

Georganic From Nature Galactomyces Intensive Oil Serum, 1.52 oz - Retail Value $46.00

Very happy to see K-Beauty brand in this box, and with such nice packaging to boot! Most of the text on this product is in Korean and Switch 2 Pure doesn’t have info cards that go over the included items, so I’ll have to find info online about this one. One of the things it does say in English is that Galactomyces Fermentation Filtrate is a “nutrient yeast which is a byproduct of fermented sake”. This serum is milky white in color and a pretty common consistency (not too thick, not too thin) which glides on and absorbs quickly into the skin. I’ve used it on and off with a couple of other serums after cleansing and before using a moisturizer. It has a really light pleasant scent, almost like green tea. I find it quite hydrating and seems to help with elasticity, making my skin dewy and plump.

Switch 2 Pure Hello Glow Rose Konjac Sponge - Retail Value $10.00

First of all, I love konjac sponges. I have sub boxes to thank for that because I may not know about them otherwise. I haven’t gotten a ton of these, so I am happy when they do come in one of the boxes I subscribe to. The difference in this one is the rose color. I normally see these in a deep grey, probably due to them having charcoal in them. If you haven’t experienced a konjac sponge before, it is all natural and derived from the bamboo plant. It’s really hard when dry, but once you run it under warm water, is slowly softens so you are able to use it without worry on your face to lightly cleanse and exfoliate with your favorite cleanser. I currently have one in use in my shower, but this one will be waiting in the wings.

Musee Dreamweaver Sleep Bath Balm - Retail Value $12.00

I've seen other brands call a bath bomb a bath "balm" and am not sure why since it's not a "balm" but I'm gonna stick with it since that's what it says on the package. I actually just saw this along with other scents at Nordstrom this weekend in their little holiday shop area. One of my favorite self-care routines is a bath with one of these babies (from various brands) so I was excited to see this in the box. It’s also an item I wouldn’t expect in a natural beauty subscription. The Dreamweaver variety that I received is made with lavender buds, grapeseed oil, shea nut oil, vitamin E oil, french lavender essential oil, and chamomile essential oil. Basically, it’s perfect for a relaxing evening bath before bedtime and smells wonderful.

Ballon Blanc All In One Cleansing Cotton Pads, set of 5 - Retail Value $4.00

Another K-Beauty product! This is a small box of 5 single-use cleaning pads in pretty pale lavender packaging. Open each pouch to reveal not one but two small square cotton pads, pre-soaked in “19 different all-natural ingredients such as coconut and aloe”, along with Alpha Hydroxy Acid which exfoliates and moisturizes. I found these to be a little oily, but highly effective at removing all of my makeup. I typically use cleansing cloths to remove most of my makeup (or dirt from the day) before washing my face at night, so these can easily be added into my routine.

Verdict: Switch 2 Pure was pretty great this month! I liked receiving a variety of different products, especially ones that were "clean" and was especially delighted by the k-beauty ones. The five items (minus the sample) have a retail value of $80 which isn't bad for a $57.00 cost. The mask and bath bomb were probably my favorite of the bunch, but the serum and sponge are also really nice. It was great to be introduced to completely new brands in addition to the variety.

AH

I’ll be interested to see how this sub plays out. The “clean beauty” sub market seems pretty well infiltrated already (Beauty Heroes, Boxwalla Beauty, Art of Organics, Pearlesque etc) and those boxes seem to offer higher value for lower cost. But this box did include a few products I’ve never heard of, so that’s interesting! To be honest, I’ve never really considered K-beauty products to be clean…in fact one reason I’ve stayed away from K-beauty is that when I read labels of the few products I received in sub boxes, or was looking at online, they seemed to have some chemicals that I’d known to be ~not~ clean…so I’ve stayed away. If this sub can identify some truly “clean” K beauty, I’d be interested in that. I’ll be following.
