Little Passports Early Explorers Welcome Kit and June 2018 Unboxing Review

Traveler Kit:

The first box that you receive when you sign up for Little Passports Early Explorers will include your Traveler Kit. This includes an orange suitcase to store everything in, stickers to decorate it and a large World Map that you can use for your monthly activities. The kit includes a letter from Max and Mia who are the ones that will be sending you items each month from their travels. These will include a photo, an activity booklet, and suitcase tag, all of which are also included in the welcome kit.

Now, let's see what we received in this month's box:

Our letter from Max and Mia this month told us about our theme for the month which is Animals and how they are found in various places all over the world. They also sent us a photo from their travels of them with their dog Toby on a safari in Kenya. This is a cute way to start the box and introduce some educational information about the theme.

These are the trading cards that we received this month that highlight three different animals from various countries. I liked that when you put them next to each other they created a little panoramic scene.

We used the map from our welcome kit and located the countries that our animals were from.

On the back of our letter was this mini version of our map. They gave us animal map stickers so that we could add the animals to our world map. I love that the stickers have a clear background so that it really looks like the animal is being incorporated into it instead of covering it up. My daughter and I would locate where the animal was from on the smaller map and then compare the color of the country to the large map in order to place our stickers. I think it was a great activity for acquiring some new learning skills.

Each month you receive an activity booklet based on the theme. The box is geared towards ages 3-5 and I really think that the activities are great for that age. It was nice to find activities that my 3-year-old daughter could complete somewhat independently.

There were a lot of activities in this little book and I think they were all based on great skills such as tracing, matching and identifying similarities and differences. The pages were detailed and colorful with short, fun activities which are perfect for little attention spans!

I thought it was great that they had an answer key in the back for kids to use.

At the end of the booklet were some extension ideas related to our theme.

This little book was really cute! I think it will make a perfect car activity. I just punched out the flashlight and then wedged it in between the pages and it showed the animals which were otherwise hidden. It really resembled a little flashlight which was fun!

This was our souvenir for this month’s travels - a set of foam finger puppets. Sorry for the poor picture, but I must have forgotten to get a picture of the outside package in the excitement of my daughter begging to open it!

I liked that we got to put them together ourselves, but also that it wasn’t too difficult or too involved. The directions were clear enough that I could have my daughter follow them on her own based on the pictures and the foam pieces already had sticky backs so we didn’t need any extra materials.

I had to put the back piece in for her, but then we had our own finger puppets!

The back of the directions had this cute map that showed us where all of our puppet animals could be found around the world. This was such a great way to incorporate some more educational information on the theme.

We received our monthly sticker for our Animals theme that we could add to our suitcase now that we had completed our adventure.

They also included this luggage tag for this trip that we added to our suitcase. The best part is that everything can then be packed away into our suitcase until our next adventure. Such a cute and fun concept!

Add-on Item:

Small 6” Toby Plush

Small 6” Toby Plush - Retail Value $9.95

We received this little Toby plush in our box as well. This did not come with the monthly subscription but is an add-on item from their shop. One nice thing about this subscription is that you have the option to bundle shop items to ship with your subscription for free. This cute little stuffed animal is soft and cuddly and I love that he’s small enough to fit into our suitcase. Having our own Toby for our adventures was fun for my kids since he is also seen in a lot of the materials that we received. It would make a great gift option!

Verdict: I thought that Little Passports Early Explorers was really fun and we enjoyed this month’s theme of Animals. I liked that there was a lot of learning going on and that there were both independent activities as well as some that we could do together. I think the box was appropriate for the target age group of 3-5 and that the activities were engaging. At $21.95 ($18.95 + $3.00 shipping and not including the add-on plush toy), we got a lot of fun activities and educational materials, plus a few items that we could play with afterward like the flashlight page and puppets! My daughter was really engaged in the activities and enjoyed it, so for me, the value was definitely there! It’s always hard for me to determine value from just one box because I think that the consistency of quality materials has something to do with it, so I’m excited to see how our next box goes!

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You will receive the Traveler Kit first, with subsequent monthly themed boxes. From Little Passports:

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
