Adults & Crafts Kit Textured Floral Wall Art April 2018 Review

This month's project was a wall hanging with a floral garland at the top. The step-by-step instruction sheet includes clear directions and photos for completing the project.

Wooden Dowel

Two White Feathers

The wooden dowel is about 16.5" long and is a sturdy base for the wall hanging. I'm not sure what kind of bird the feathers are from but they're very pretty.

Silky Soft Darice Yarn – Retail Value $6.86

This yarn is fine and soft. The color is more of an off-white than a pure white.

Darice White Trims, 2 yards assorted – Retail Value $3.99 each

White lace, about 4 yards

I'm not sure if everyone receives the same ribbons, but I got one with a diamond pattern, some piping cord, sparkly ribbon and wide silver ric-rac. The lace is soft and a little bit stretchy.

White Cord

Faux Ivy

I'm not sure what to call this type of cord, but it's very soft. There's a good amount of ivy and I like the color, but I did think it looks a little cheap because there are plastic blobs between the stems. You could always trim that off though.

Darice 15" Bush Carnation – Estimated Value $4 each?

These are pretty standard faux flowers, but I wasn't able to find these exact ones online. I received red, cream and pink. Each bunch has six flowers, which is more than enough for this project.

Darice Low Temp Glue Gun – Retail Value $7.83

I'd never used a glue gun before subscribing to craft boxes, but they're easy to use. This one takes the mini size of glue sticks. Two were included.

The first step was to cut lengths of the yarn and loop them onto the wooden dowel.

The next step is to mix in more ribbons with the yarn. I decided to go for a simple look and only used the white round cord, but all of the different ribbons looked nice together.

The next step was to choose which embellishments to use. I experimented with the flowers, but in the end, I decided not to use them.

I chose the feathers for embellishment, wrapping the ends in the silver ric-rac for a little bit of shine. They're held together with hot glue.

Next, I used hot glue to attach ribbon to the ends for hanging.

Here's the final result! I trimmed the bottom into a V to give it some shape.

One great thing about this box is that you can always be creative and make the projects your own. My minimalist wall hanging is probably not what Adults and Crafts envisioned, but I'm happy with it because it suits my decor. It looks pretty nice with the wall clock I made a few months ago!

Verdict: This project was a lot of fun because there were so many different materials to experiment with. I didn't use everything, so I have supplies for future projects. This is another one of those foolproof projects Adults and Crafts is so good at putting together – it's perfect for makers of all skill levels. I think this particular kit would make a nice gift, because it's easy, not too messy, and results in a unique item that will turn out a little differently for everyone.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you order now, you won't receive this box, however, you can order the Textured Floral Wall Art Kit from their shop for $34. It has everything included here.

Value Breakdown: There are so many bits and pieces to this kit that it's hard to break down the value, especially since some of the supplies aren't labeled. However, the items with known retail values total over $30, so the value is definitely there.
