Pinup in a Pack February 2018 Review

The invoice has contact info if I have any questions on my box and shows me as a recurring order. It is a rather standard invoice.

Baby Pink Heart Shaped Cat Eye Sunglasses (Retail Value Unavailable, similar found here)

My favorite holidays are Halloween and Valentine’s Day, so I was excited to see so many sweetheart themed pieces in this Pinup In a Pack! I always get post-holiday pumped to see the rows of heart shaped candies and valentines whether I am single or have a love (shout out to my awesome boyfriend for taking the pics in this review, btw). These soft pink sunglasses are the perfect marriage of two things I love: cat eye shaped glasses and hearts! These specs make the typical Lolita heart shaped glasses seem far less sassy in comparison. The glasses are pretty solid and are well made for a novelty accessory. I opted to style these like a good bad, not evil kind of girl would: with my red, faux leather jacket and leopard print mini-skirt, of course! These sunglasses will be able to be worn all year too, especially in the summer poolside in your favorite swimsuit!

Silver Heart Cloud Earrings (Retail Value Unavailable, similar found here)

This earring set reminds me of many trips to The Icing and Claire’s as a teen. There was always a sea like rack of novelty earring sets up front next to a merchandise display for whatever boy band was popular that month. These button earrings are definitely a blast from the past! I also appreciate that the earrings come in three different sizes. If you have more than one ear piercing in your ears you could wear multiple pairs at a time for an adorable look. These earrings are rather light and not terribly high quality, but they are rather cute.

You Said You Would Always Bring Me Flowers Scarf (Retail Value Unavailable, similar found here)

Who needs a bouquet of flowers when you can wear a scarf with them on it always, am I right? This scarf is made of a silky satin material and also a mesh, see-through fabric as well. It is long enough that you can tie it on your neck, bag, or in your hair which makes it an immensely versatile and classic accessory. I decided to style the scarf in two of the three ways mentioned to show its adaptability with this single ensemble. Imagine how this piece would look with a pastel shift dress and flats on a spring day or with a button down dress shirt, slacks, cardigan, and heels at the office!

Verdict: I am a sucker for a great theme and enjoyed the thoughtful Valentine’s Day pieces selected for the February Pinup In a Pack box. My favorite item this month far and away was the heart shaped cat eye sunglasses. The scarf and earrings are precious, but they were not terribly high quality items. Overall, I enjoyed this month’s box and enjoyed wearing some of the pieces I received on Valentine’s Day!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, the February box is not available, but you can find similar pieces at Pinup In a Pack. Also, you can sign up for the March box now!

Value Breakdown:  This box is $19.99 and that includes free shipping. Three items are included in each box making their estimated value around $6.66 each. I found a similar pair of sunglasses for $3.95, earrings at $2.45, and scarf for $1.98 on eBay. Those three items total $8.38 which means I paid $11.61 more for my Pinup In a Pack box! Do keep in mind the similar pieces are not exactly like the ones I received, especially the earrings which were a smaller stud style than what was included in this month’s box.

Nicole, please add me to the list of those clamoring for you to have a blog. Yours are my favorite reviews and while my style doesn’t always match yours, you present things in a way that makes me see the possibilities and turns the status quo on it’s ear.

Keep on being your gorgeous self and inspiring the rest of us.

Nicole, could you please tell me where you bought your shoes from? 🙂 I have seen similar ones on Gudrun Sjoden’s shop but not in that colour and I loooove red.

I had no idea this Pinup In A Pack subscription box existed and this is totally my cup of tea. I will be ordering one soon -well, I need to check if they ship to other countries.

Great review!

Yes! I agree with everyone’s comments & you do need a fashion blog! Once again you’ve combined red & pink beautifully which I reall need to try. I LOVE that scarf!

Thank you so much, heat7918! I appreciate all your compliments, it really means a lot! I love writing these reviews and I am glad you enjoy reading them!

Pink and red is really an understated combo! It always makes me think of my friend, Dania! She was the queen of combining pink and red back in the day! haha

I would keep an eye on the Pin Up in a Pack site. They usually put some of the items from their subscription boxes on the site to purchase! I think they said they had two more boxes left on their IG before they are out of the February ones. They go quickly!

Julia

You look adorably “eighties”! I love the eighties! You remind me so much of Grace, the heroine in the movie “Babycakes”. This sub is definitely adorable.

Nicole Rieder

Awe, Julia!!! You just made my day with the comparison to Grace in “Babycakes!” I just recently acquired a copy of that movie on dvd. I had been wanting to see it for years and it did not disappoint. I love Ricki Lake, so it was a must. I grew up watching her talk show and her role as Tracy Turnblad in “Hairspray” was life changing for me. That movie influenced me in every respect— music, style, being a strong babe, and even on my views on body positivity. I truly don’t know who I would be if that movie and John Water’s other films didn’t exist. They helped define me as the woman I am today.

Wendy

ummm… can you just start a fashion blog please? I need to know where to get these leather jackets. Do I need them? No, I live in south FL. I DO however need fashion help and you made everything look amazing.

Nicole Rieder

Awwwwe Wendy! Thank you so much! You really made me smile. I have such a passion for fashion and that is why I love doing these reviews so much.

That jacket is actually from Forever21 Plus a few years back! But good news is I found you a few alternative options since I love to shop hahaha:

And there is also this black biker jacket on sale at Shoe Dazzle! https://www.shoedazzle.com/products/CLASSIC-MOTO-JACKET-CA1825104-9649?psrc=shop_plussize_new-arrivals

I agree! I’m also taken with your lovely red jacket. I’d ask where you picked it up but alas I have a feeling this may have been a magnificent thrift find?

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe, thanks, DL! The jacket is actually a Forever21 Plus a few years back! There is a really cute red faux leather jacket on Eloquii’s site right now and a few cute biker jackets on Shoe Dazzle that I also review for! I also recommend checking out boohoo.com because they have awesome plus size pieces and are reasonable. I just ordered a faux red leather skirt from them recently that is AMAZING!

Are you doing any professional modeling? You should be.
